The videos will just work. Companies would need to upgrade their servers, of course. Could take a few months, could take a year, but this will all be sorted and over with in the near future.
This is same standard Microsoft is adding to allow Silverlight videos to stream to iOS, by the way.
hongesagatame said:Is it possible to stream the videos through the ipad and then to an appletv with these apps? Basically what I wanna do is to use the ipad as an advanced remote and then show the video on my tv.
I was wondering this myself. The question is does the Plex app stream the video, or tell the Plex server to stream it? It seems it would be stupid for Plex Server to encode the video, send it to the iPad and then have the iPad send it to the AppleTV. I wanna know if it's smart and the Plex Server on the Mac sends the video to the AppleTV instead. I keep meaning to ask this on the Plex site. I want to get a cheap device for my dad's TV so he can watch all my media on his own TV instead of only his iPad all the time.numble said:Yes for both.
thanks for the info. I just bought it and tried one of my test files too and got no stuttering.bathala said:avplayerHD just got updated.
Supports iPad2 Dual core.
gonna try 720p later, but so far mkv subtitles of anime have no lag
EDIT: just tried a 720p tv show and I was surprised it has a subtitle. Again the subtitle was synced with the 720p mkv file

I saw this one a couple days ago and it looks pretty slick.

Ha, yeah. That thing is designed to pull off with very little effort. Holding it by the cover is foolish.Cereal KiIIer said:No, but your father-in-law will.

I'd probably avoid buying in NY if you can, you'll have to pay more tax.koene said:I'm planning on buying an Ipad 2 when visiting NY (in May). Anyone know how the stock is there? Also, is it possible to activate your Ipad 2 in the store? Because that would be awesome.

As for activating it in the store, sure. One of the dudes will be happy to get your iPad set up for you.
He's talking about sales tax. New York City is 8.875% for example, while Delaware is 0%. This is collected at the point of sale (the cash register in the Apple Store).koene said:Do you mean I'll pay tax at the airport? What if I pretend I bought it back in Europe?
Oh, I was assuming you were coming from a different state. If you got the iPad in a different state, sales tax is a lot less than in NYC (I think sales tax would probably be around $60 or something in NYC). That's probably still less expensive than it would cost in Europe, I'd assume.koene said:Do you mean I'll pay tax at the airport? What if I pretend I bought it back in Europe?
Great. Thx!

They've had it on jailbreak for awhile.LCfiner said:um... probably never. I would bet large sums of money that the ipad will never support a pointing device like a mouse or regular trackpad. The ipad doesn't support a pointer arrow - the trackpad is made to manipulate a pointer arrow
perhaps jailbreak will provide that support.

OldJadedGamer said:Oh, I wasn't even thinking of using it as a pointing device. I'm talking about how three fingers swiping left makes the browser page go back and like four fingers up makes the desktop minimize.. tapping two fingers on misspelled words and correcting them from the menu. Stuff like that. Pointing like a mouse was the last thing on my mind when I typed that.
