But cloud saves over game center would be pretty nice, indeed. But I doubt apple will make that investment.
Not just for games--some sort of syncing, cloud or otherwise, would be welcome. Too many apps resort to manual Dropbox management.

Flipboard and Vevo HD are both pretty nice apps.

Why? Honestly, I tried the trial and cancelled so I'd never be charged for it.

well, my family is heavily invested in apple products...

1 mac pro
2 mac book pros
2 ipads
3 iphones

so yea, it actually makes life much easier to have everything synced up.

Does Walmart or Target sell the smart covers? And what's a good app for streaming video from my Mac to iPad?

Air Video is the best app. Plex is decent too.

Edit:

If you just want to stream it on your local network you can use iTunes home share.

a couple announced smart cover style cases with back protection for those who care.

no mention of magnets, though. it'd be damn stupid to release these without the magnets but anyone considering getting one of these should ask to find out.

Fuck that looks hot....until you look at the site:

* Protective and slim-fitting with a stylish glossy-matte finish
* Front cover stays closed with micro-suction
* Cover folds into viewing and typing stand

So it uses "micro-suction" and not magnets.... goddamnit.

This is the case I have right now:

Not only do many porn sites work on the iPad, but one of them that you might enjoy porn on is among the first sites of any kind to fully support AirPlay. The adult industry leads the way again, god bless 'em.

Been playing with iBrainstorm which is decent enough for brainstorming/plotting up ideas for my RPGs. Uses little sticky notes that you can then draw links to or annotate with a simple drawing tool.

Anyone else use something better? Gary, are you plotting/brainstorming on the iPad?

so i revisited pocket legends tonight on the iPad 2 and wow, I do not remember it being so smooth. it's practically locked at 60fps and a joy to play now. god bless the iPad 2’s gpu.

Some of the money goes to charity when you buy the red leather cover, right?

Maybe I can use that excuse to justify buying a leather cover =P

The most recent episode of Hypercritical deconstructed Apple's dismal online services, including MobileMe. Good listening.

I like that while it doesn't work for their workflow, they understand it is working for a lot of people, and keep an open mind.
I found that whole section refreshing honest. I've seen raving reviews from some folks which doesn't jive with their usage of the device (like Gruber, who casually admitted that he didn't use the iPad much after the baseball season was over, or Marco who let slip that his iPads are primarily development devices). I do wish Anand et al had put more effort towards integrating the iPad into their workflow (this podcast from MacPower Users on Taking Notes on Mac OS X and iOS would have been useful for one of the reviewers) but the review was fair overall.

And Best Buy too, but I believe only Apple sells red.

If people want, I'll buy the red and ship it out. Plenty here and the store is just 5 mins down the road.

Here's what I really want for iOS 5:

More gestures everywhere, both three and four finger ones:
Four fingers for OS specific things like we have in 4.3 Dev mode right now. Right and left to switch apps, up for task manager. A squeeze with four or five for Home Screen.
Three fingers in apps like Safari or App Store for navigation. Right and left to switch tabs. Up to show all open tabs. Maybe down to refresh. Something simple. Nothing elaborate.

Tabs in Safari on the iPad only. Just to shut the Android people up.

Proper Clock and Weather apps. Though I already own Weather+ which does both. I could use the Clock's timer and alarm functions without needing a third party app. And on top of that, I want them to have proper homescreen updated icons like the calendar. I don't even want widgets like Android. But I would like the weather displayed in the icon. It's totally possible. It just doesn't make sense why it isn't done. It would need to be updated once an hour or two for weather (Or when you access it manually) and once a minute for the clock. It won't even need a second hand. And offer a magical Apple API for developers to also take advantage of this feature by allowing icon customization on the home screen. But keep it limited to only update every hour at the least to preserve battery and disallow apps that abuse it.

Multiple wallpapers that change every hour like on OS X. I have a lot of nice photos I'd love to have rotated.

Optionally make the wallpaper scroll when it's wide like Android when you switch home screen pages.

Other cool stuff we didn't know we needed. And other stuff we need but don't have.

Sold my iPad a week ago for about 360$, in preparation for iPad 2. Today, the "premium reseller" in Kuwait (where I live) got it, and they're selling the 16GB/WiFi for one fucking thousand dollars.

Unbelievable.

Backed up my iPad yesterday and switched it out. Didn't even have to produce my receipt. It's pretty cool everything was the same down to the webpages I had up and all my game saves like supremacy wars... But this one has just as bad light bleed as my other one. The Mac addresses are very close so it's not surprising. Will probably wait a month or so and switch it out again.

I'm thinking about selling my iPad and buying an iPad 2 but I have 2 questions.

First are there any improvements to the speakers ?
Second one ipdoes Safari keep refreshing whenever another page is opened the same way the iPad 1 did ?

Have the updates actually turned it into something worth playing beyond simple curiosity? The game is well made, but in its early state it was absolutely mind-numbing. I'm hoping their plan is iterative development, and that they're inching towards something a bit more interesting.
i'm still trying to get an overall feel for it since I was in the same camp as you. i haven't touched it since its early stages but so far it seems a lot more fleshed out. gonna give it another go today but from what I've payed thus far it seems much improved.

Wait some months for manufacturing issues to be sorted.

That's what I'm going to do. Since we get a year (Right?) of Apple warranty. I'm sure if the light issue turns out to be widespread, it'll be fixed and eventually the market will have enough to support replacements.

I don't even notice the leak unless it's a dark screen. So it's not a killer for me.

That one looks really cool. I just wish there was one that used resizeable photos as well as text. I guess I'm looking for something like Microsoft's Courier demo.

Wow. the premium seller sells the item at 2X the price ! I remember that the first iPad 64gb+3g was sold at about $2000 when it first got released in my country.
The only way for you to get iPad 2 at a reasonable price is to have someone who live in the States and have him send you the iPad.

So all four apple stores in San Francisco are sold out of the red smart cover. I call the local apple store near my family in the midwest and the guy on the phone tells me they have "at least 40". WTF

RED STATE

Actually, I went to the Apple store today to bitch about it (went there to pick up my HDMI adapter) and he said that the reason Red was gone is because the vast majority of iPads they are selling right now to "customers" are being shipped to China and the red cover is in high demand over there hence why they are sold out in SF but not other cities/states.

Anyone try out Files Connect? Looks like it only came out last week, but it's made a strong impression on early adopters. Sounds like a Good Reader Plus. All the file reading, transferring, sharing, uploading, downloading, plus other things like zipping/unzipping files, and simple NAS pc connection (dunno how GR's NAS is as I've yet to try it).

Trying to decide if it's worth it at $8 when I already have Good Reader.

Hey come on China, it's the year of the rabbit, not the year of the hog! Am I right?!?!

Wish Canada would put out more launch details :(
I have a feeling it's gonna be delayed even longer now:(
Also, iPads og are impossible to sell now here so looks like I'm sticking with my og till iPad 3 then I'll get a new one.

I'm watching VCU destroy Purdue on the NCAA iPad app, and they keep showing Samsung Galaxy tab ads with the tagline "Feel free".

Feel free to do what, not watch the game I'm watching? It's an iOS exclusive. Lol.

had to reboot the ipad twice today :( the first time nightstand crashed the os, and a second time somehow auto orientation wouldn't work when i switched off the orientation lock.

Hey, quick question. Is the app sponsored by CBS?

Gary, do you use a brainstorming app like iBrainstorm on the iPad? If so, which one? I'm looking for way to plot out RPG stories.

I'd really love something that works like the Courier demo. ;)

Hp, Buick, AT&T, coca cola, capital one are all listed. Applebees even made a custom ad, like "don't watch the game on your phone, come into Applebees". That kind of thing.

The app is awesome. Every game, regardless of network, is available. I'm impressed.
