My household has both an iPad 1 and 2. After I updated my dads iPad 1 I see a big difference in performance. I would say that you should look for a good deal for the iPad 2, the ram is a limiting factor on iPad 1 and it will get worse as time goes on. You already see some games being iPad 2-only.Ninja Scooter said:a buddy of mine just got a new Macbook Air and is offering to sell me his iPad1 with the apple case and wireless keyboard for $300? Seems high, am I right in thinking its def not worth it? What if I could talk him down to $200?

Yes, that's a basic itunes function. Just select which music you want to sync with each device in the music tab of the device when plugged in to itunes.Mike Works said:Hey guys, I have a quick iTunes question:
I have a 64gb iPad 2, a 32g iPhone, and an 8g iPod nano...
Is there any way to have different sync lists for my music? I'd like to have almost all of it on my iPad, most of it on my iPhone, and half of it on my iPod.
At this point, don't get the iPad 1 at any price. Now that iOS 5 is out, it's gimped compared to the iPad 2. Can't do the new gestures which really make a difference in navigating from app to app.Ninja Scooter said:a buddy of mine just got a new Macbook Air and is offering to sell me his iPad1 with the apple case and wireless keyboard for $300? Im not on ios 5 yet, but my iPad does gestures just fine in iOS. I don't see how it's gimped.Teddman said:At this point, don't get the iPad 1 at any price. You can just redownload them whenever you want.Gila said:Holy crap, I just subscribed to GQ magazine for a year. And I didn't know that each issue is around 550mb. I only have a 16gb iPad.
Is there any way I can save these issues somewhere else? I don't mind downloading each one per month and having it on the iPad. But sooner of later I'm gonna have to move these somewhere and I want to keep the ones I've purchased
Edit/ or how about this, I've created an account with them. Can I remove ones I've read, and then if I want it again be able to download on the iPad?
On iOS 5, gestures are iPad 2 only if I'm not mistaken.brotkasten said:Im not on ios 5 yet, but my iPad does gestures just fine in iOS. I don't see how it's gimped.
MercuryLS said:Man I'm using my iPad 2 way more than before. The split keyboard that you can move up along with the brilliant multitasking gestures has really made this thing so convenient to use. For the first time I'm using my iPad 2 instead of my Mac and I don't miss it one bit, never thought that would happen.
PS this is the first GAF post I've done on the iPad that didn't make me want to kill myself because of how clumsy the typing experience was.
Wow, that's pathetic.Tunesmith said:On iOS 5, gestures are iPad 2 only if I'm not mistaken.
planned obsolescence, Apple style. see: the curious omission of MMS for the OG iPhone, which was later enabled in the OS by jailbreakers.brotkasten said:Wow, that's pathetic.

BigNastyCurve said:That cover will fuck you over. It doesn't protect the glass very well like other cases - I had a friend have his glass shatter while in that case and the drop wasn't very far. Simple fact is it trades protection for style. Get an incase book-style cover instead.

LCfiner said:they're not there yet.
you can put put your current music in itunes obviously and sync it from there.
when itunes match comes out, you can skip the itunes sync session and just download all those files directly onto the device. but that might take a while since you have to tap them one by one from what we've seen.
honestly, i don't think either solution is what you're looking for but I would recommend a one time sync (or a drag and drop from the itunes window to ipad in source list) to get the bulk of your music on there.

Oops. My mistake. That's better.LyleLanley said:You can download whole playlists or albums with just one tap.

I switched from a worn smart cover to the logitech keyboard case like two months ago, and lately have been using my ipad as a laptop almost daily since. Very nice keyboard. I'm able to type at my usual speed with no problems. The only minor downside is the silver finish is starting to wear off, leaving marks behind. It's still an effective case. Don't have to worry about dropping it and damaging it the glass like I had to with the smart cover.Eggo said:Couple random iPad thoughts...
Hmm... Good to know the iPad is a decent substitute for a work computer if my main requirements are things like Skype, FTP, and Office. I was planning on using either Google docs or the Apple apps like Pages and Keynote and hadn't considered Documents To Go. You prefer that over the alternatives I mentioned?Aaron said:I switched from a worn smart cover to the logitech keyboard case like two months ago, and lately have been using my ipad as a laptop almost daily since. I'm mainly using Documents to Go for writing documents, and what I love about it is almost all of the screen is the writing area. There's minimal clutter, and while I need to occasionally touch the screen for various tasks, the only one I've had any difficulty with is selecting more than one paragraph. The files are native .doc files and has a wireless transfer program, making it easy to switch to my desktop at home.
I don't feel safe with it docked in portrait mode though. I use it only in landscape.
I personally don't like Google docs and I tend to be offline when using the ipad so it's not a great solution. I didn't go with Pages before because syncing docs meant going through itunes or e-mailing. Now with wireless syncing in ios5, Pages would probably be fine. I suggest looking at video reviews of both on youtube and see which suits your needs better.Eggo said:Hmm... Pffttttttt pfffttttttttt ftttttttttttttt, man up man. The ipad 2 is good as it is. I've been messing around with the iPad 2 whenever I'm in an Apple store or store that carries it, and it's the one thing that bothers me about the device. It looks good, but compared to the iPhone 4/4S, it's just not quite as sharp.
But it's less than half a year. I'd never buy an apple product that is over 6 months old. Not worth it, man.Technosteve said:Pffttttttt pfffttttttttt ftttttttttttttt, man up man. The ipad 2 is good as it is. You would have to wait five more months for ipad 3
