Is somebody else but me and my brother having problems with the Beejive IM app?
I can't get it to work.
I can start the app but it locks up when I want to go online.
It hasn't worked for about a week or so.

And their website seems to be down as well.

Have been playing We Rule and I am having fun tending to my farm. I was asked to add a friend which I did, Another gaffer. I am not sure what I did but I ordered something from their kingdom. :lol

Works for me, and http://www.beejive.com/ also works for me.

This thread should probably be bumped for all the new iPhone users.

Anyway, I'm looking for two apps and hopeful that someone can suggest something.

1) The first app is to replace functionality from the now defunct Now Playing. I liked how I could list a schedule of upcomng and recent Blu-Ray releases and completely filter out DVD releases and from there I could add them to my Netflix queue. It was just a nice easy way to streamline the process of updating my queue. Is there anything that will let me do that now?

2) The second app is something where I can add a bunch of TV shows that I watch into a list and then it can tell me what my upcoming tv schedule will be like for only new/first time run episodes of those shows. It would be something where I can look and see what I need to watch tonight or maybe later in the week, and not just tell me if my show is on tonight, thus filtering out repeats.

I use Whats On? you can make shows a favorite and then on the favorite screen it will say when its on next within the week. i dont think it fiters out repeats but it says whats a rerun or whats new i cant remember which it uses.

Does any existing app match the functionality of Now Playing when it worked?

I don't think so, and I'm kinda not expecting anything to be as good. Hopefully someone can suggest at least an app that has a calendar of Blu Ray releases that will let me add them to my Netflix queue directly.

I'd be quite happy if I could get that alone and then just use some other app for movie and theater listings.

Any good travel apps-I'm looking for stuff that would replace a phrase book and basic travel guides. The nice thing about having smartphones these days is that you save tons of bulk when traveling.

I'm looking for this too. My favorite feature about Now Playing was the Blu Ray calander. :-(

Ahaha, whoops!

MiTube, an App For Downloading YouTube Videos, Sneaks Into App Store

Oh, the mysteries of the App Store approval process. MiTube, a jailbreak favorite for downloading YouTube videos directly to your iPhone, is currently available in the App Store for free. With a nice AdMob ad. How strange.

Having a jailbroken 3GS, I can tell you that this app is (now was... it's since been pulled) near identical to a JB Youtube downloader called MxTube. Not only that, it has the same icons and written by the same guy. Nice approval process, Apple :lol

Is there a good app that will let me scan the barcodes of my games and catalog them? I know Red Laser can scan, but I don't think it can catalog.

HiFutureMe app allows you to communicate with your future self! Send messages to the future! (no replies though)

I always wanted an app like this. To schedule a few messages during a tennis match, random positive reinforcements, or just plain reminders about meetings and such.

Calendar apps are annoying, and often overkill for simple alerts. So I built this app. It took about 25 minutes, and it's completely free.

If someone else out there wanted something similar... here you go :-)

How does this work? I tried to send a message to myself for 5 minutes in the future and nothing happened.

GAF, reccomend me some DLNA/UPNP setup for my iPod Touch 2g. Something with transcoding.

Done. I used Tversity + CCCP pack, it all works just fine [from ordinary divx to 25gig h264 file]. All that is missing is subtitles support. :(

Camera+ was pulled from the App Store. I just bought it yesterday in preparation for my future iPhone 4. The developers had put a feature allowing you to use the volume controls to take photos, that version was rejected, but they snuck it in via a hidden feature anyway. So apparently Apple found out and pulled the app.

Strange, because the devs put this on their blog earlier, which would seem to indicate that they are against hidden features:
Some of you pointed out other camera apps that make use of the volume buttons for snapping photos. But Apple suspects that these slipped through the review cracks because the developers intentionally hid the feature from their app descriptions and screenshots upon submission, but then added info about them after their apps got approved. When Apple finds out about these incidents, they tend to crack down pretty hard on them, sometimes going so far as completely banning the developers from the App Store. So this is definitely not the smart way to go. Apple recently made a change where app screenshots are now “locked” for each version that’s approved. This helps prevent crap like this from going on in the future… but at the expense of honest developers who wish to fine-tune things between versions.

I have Camera+, I just tried it and the volume controls don't do anything, did Apple pull it before it was snuck in?

Never mind, I just read the discussion of this in the iPhone 4 thread.

This is niche as hell, but the Chinese dictionary app, Pleco, that I've been raving about will soon be updated with OCR Camera support. Use the camera to look at Chinese text, even multiple characters, and it will match it up in the dictionary, instantly, augmented reality style:

A preview shot, I hope they get rid of the ugly green color by release (though it's probably customizable):

This will be a big hit at parties if it can read peoples tattoos. :lol

WOW!!! That rocks. (pleco user here) best. Dictionary. Ever!

Can somebody please recommend me a good headset for iPhone with mic and volume control?
I am tired of the lousy sound and poor build quality in the ones Apple bundles together with the phone.

I'm using the Scosche IDR-355md right now. Pretty good for the price, sound better than the Apple buds:

Buddy of mine has the Klipsch S4i. Both these models work with iPhone (volume buttons, answer, skip songs etc)

i'll believe it when i see it...some japanese phones are decent at this, but i haven't seen an iphone app get it right yet.

Anyone knows will Swype and CorePlayer ever be released on AppStore?

old post but the answer is never. Apple doesn't allow apps to change or control how ios functions. Apple would have to include such function into an update of ios.

New Facebook update borks the app---it doesn't work almost at all.

Are you jailbroken? If you've got BiteSMS installed, Facebook seems to shit the bed. You can apparently fix it by going into Mobile Substrate Addons in sbSettings and turning off biteSMSsb but that doesn't seem to work for me.

EDIT: Actually after I disabled my SMS delivery status plugin from the same menu Facebook started working.

Exhibit A as to why I don't jailbreak anymore.

I have my entire family addicted to the iPhone 4.

Air Video/StreamToMe, to be specific. They collectively believe it to be the best app for the phone...or any device ever.

Ever? Ever.

that or disable the feature causing a problem.

duh.

Hey, that worked. But, uh, does that, like, disable biteSMS or something?

On my phone the app is still there, but it crashed the last time I tried to send a text. The text got sent successfully, but none of the quick reply stuff is working.

That's just one small example. I used to jailbreak until I found out my phone started to run like crap afterwards. Apps would crash, things would slow down. Sure this is one small *easy* fix to get Facebook working with this jailbroken app, but who's to say the hundreds of other jailbroken apps don't mess with the hundreds of other legitimate apps? There's so many variables when you let apps on your phone that don't comply with Apple's API guidelines, problems do occur.

Okay now this is a bummer. I was having no problems with any of my jailbroken apps until now. Guess I'm gonna uninstall biteSMS for a while and revert back to the native SMS app.

I disabled that option on my sbsettings and it disabled bitesms completely. I couldn't quick reply and the phone resorted back to the standard text app. I'll go without Facebook I guess : (
