Haha, I just posted in the ipad thread a response pretty suchlike this. I just don't get it. I keep rereading the description to see if it offers what I think it says it offers, but I can't get it to work.

My ONLY clue is that some blog somewhere mentioned you have to have at least some airplay legal device on the network - maybe the app can't authenticate, but can only piggyback on an existing broadcast?
Hmm, maybe that works. Did you install the program that lets you turn your computer into an Airplay receiver. I don't have an AppleTV or any other Airplay receiver, but I do have that hack that let's me Airplay from iOS to my computer.

Yeah, doesn't work for me either. Mac to iOS or iOS to iOS.

I do have an old Airport Express laying around somewhere, so I could try and check if that enables this app, but I don't know how to set it up as an extension to my home network.

I got it to work!

Holy crap, this is awesome.

The trick I found was to open the airview app BEFORE opening the video.

I know this probably doesn't exist, but is there some sort of Planner/To-Do application for iPhone that syncs across a Mac or PC? PC syncing is preferable, as I primarily use a netbook for school, but I have a Mac for home use as well.

Yeah, I got it to work too, but it ran like shit, and kept having to buffer.

Hmm. Mine seems good. I have an old-as router too. Might help that I'm on ethernet for my computer.

Also, I only played for a few seconds.

I think the Calendar application syncs with Google Calendar, that might work. Microsoft OneNote was just released and free for a limited time.

I feel like an idiot for not already knowing about Google Calendar, but for some reason it doesn't seem to sync across to my phone. I added calendar syncing in the iPhone's settings, but adding tasks to each one doesn't seem to change the other. It's too bad Microsoft OneNote doesn't interface with OSX, or I'd probably use it instead.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's syncing now, but I really wish the iPhone supported tasks instead of just events.

Yeah, me too. Doesn't work with music though (at least to me), just video, so that was part of the problem.

I don't have a lot of videos on iTunes though (a Harry Potter flick from iTS and 2 crappy clips), so this isn't of much value for me, and I can access all my real video library (which isn't on iTunes) through AirVideo anyway :P

Still, this made me setup my Airport Express as a wireless client to my network -- and thanks to AirPlay on iOS 4.2 I can finally push music to the stereo directly from my iPhone. This was previously exclusive to iTunes. Awesome!

I like it but I don't like how hard it is to find new people to follow (other than the popular people who tbh don't need more followers!).

I'm Jedeye Sniv, I added you as well.

btw, is that your kid on your last picture? Jeez, I remember the thread you had about naming him, he looks like he'll be down the pub in just a few years!
You guys can add me too I'm wdangelo

Yeah he's almost one and a half now, he's a brewser.

Yeah it is a pain to find people having to go through the app but atleast you can grab facebook and twitter people over.

Thats why I thought a GAF thread could be a good idea.

Will do

SO is anyone going to get some apps just for the 10 billion apps competition? It's weird, there hasn't been much news or chatter about it as there has been in the past. Should be due up very soon.

I like Reeder, it also has a neat option to look at the full story for feed items that are just short one line items.

Reeder for me as well. I've tried them all and this just feels the best (for me).

For the record, 10,000,000,000 apps must be coming very soon. Get downloading!

Anyone can recommend some app with witch iPhone users can message each other for free? I was using ping but it has started to be annoying, and messages are always late. I know quite a few people using iPhone and free messaging is golden :)

Whatspp, but not always instant like Ping as well. Thats the nature of push notification apps

What's your favorite browser for iPhone?
I have Opera mini, Safari, iCabMobile and 360°, I think my favorite is iCab but I am wondering what others think...

ugh, US store only :(

Can I still make a US account and still have apps sync to my phone? I'm assuming that you can't because it shows up as a different user?
you can! Once the app is downloaded it will be synced along with your other apps.
You'll just have to login to this US account each time you want to update the apps you downloaded from it.

^^ Was just going to say that.
We are truly a lucky generation to get to experience all this. For instance, I wrote this entire post using Dragon dictate. Now I practically have a universal translator in my pocket. This is one of those moments where I truly understand when Louis CK said “everything is awesome, and no one is happy”.

Google Translate is neat but in the end the translations are no better than they have been for years on babelfish, etc. I tested some very simple Japanese with it and it's still not up to the task.

I have dragon dictate but haven't used it that much.

You didn't have to do many corrections? I can't remember if it learns as you correct it and as you use it.

You really should. It's a great program.

It makes mistakes, but no more than I make myself when typing. I've only had the program for about a week now, but I think you can teach it or help it, rather to understand your unique pronunciation using the recognition window. You can also add vocabulary and unique commands.

It's will even use context help determine what you mean when typing. For instance, typing “Star Wars” early on in the document will help it understand what you mean when you say “Obi-Wan Kenobi”. In addition to that, it also as an extensive pop-culture vocabulary. Stuff like “Capt. Picard”, “Capt. Kirk”. Again, I dictated this entire post using nothing but the Macintosh's internal microphone. It's even slightly more accurate when using a decent dedicated mic.

There's a pretty good app that is free right now which is called Movie Scanner and is a database app.
With it you can quickly scan barcodes from your DVDs and Blurays and create an inventory of your collection.
Homepage

I also discovered that it recognizes barcodes from PS3 games and music CDs.

It has some problems but since it's free I can't complain.
For example it doesn't recognize Nordic/Swedish releases.
I can really recommend it.

Do you have any recommendations for similar apps?

Is there an app that will tell me how much battery a process uses at the moment? I'm trying to see what drains my battery so fast on some days

I've had my Verizon iPhone for a couple of weeks now. So far the best app I've found has been Netflix and the most iPhone friendly website has been secondapps. I downloaded VZNavigator. It worked brilliantly on non iPhones. But it's utter crap on this. On the other hand, google maps is great! Works like a charm.

Been looking for an app to stream tv and radio. But, after doing some research I've found that a lot of media apps seem to lock up or crash with the iPhone 4.

Reeder is best for iPhone, but Feedly seems to be getting better with each update (and their upcoming iPad app looks awesome). For iPad, I usually just stick with Flipboard since it has Google Reader support now.
