what sucks is no matter what they announce... you probably can't do dumb awesome licensed watchfaces like you can on android and pebble.

You raise a good issue. I wonder if they (Apple) consider themselves in competition with Pebble. Meaning, do they care of they are able to pull people away from Pebble? This event will answer a lot of questions hopefully.

I don't think so. I will take a nice display even if I have to charge it once a day over that e-ink garbage. I'm used to charging my microsoft band once a day as is.

Oh my, that is awesome.

My company is giving away an Apple Watch. I'm guessing that which model we give away depends entirely on the pricing, but I imagine it's going to be the base model. given the rumors.

If there was ever a hack to get this working with iOS I would gladly buy it over an Apple Watch. I really like the look of this product.

The P4 face is nice as well.

I charge my iPhone 6 every night, so this wouldn't be an issue for me either.

That was a bizarre prediction that was already shot down.

That prediction (for the stainless Apple Watch) has not been shot down. If anything, it's been strengthened as Gruber followed up saying that he'd heard from Apple people he was not far off the mark. So...

"From what I’m hearing, I guessed pretty good last week: about $1,000 for Apple Watch, and $10,000+ for Edition. (I’m still thinking $749 starting price for the steel Apple Watch with Sport Band — roughly twice the price of the aluminum Sport model.)" - http://daringfireball.net/linked/2015/02/23/ipad-apple-watch

I'm not so sure you can shoot down that prediction since we don't know the price yet.

Seems like the range for the mid tier Apple Watch.
Not the pricing, but the whole pricing model with only sport bands being sold separately and the rest being strictly sold with the watches to indicate arbitrary band pricing tiers. They alreay said a large array of bands will be available separately day one, leaving only a handful like the 38mm and the Edition bands as possible exclusives to models.

I want one as a novelty. I won't stop wearing traditional watches.

True, but remember these watches are essentially different sizes because men and women tend to have different sized wrists. They're just simply not gonna discriminate like that.

It's not a men's vs women's size, it's just preference.
Larger one will definitely be 50-100 more.

I am really tempted to get one if the price is decent and if the battery lasts at least a day and a half. Other than that I might look at getting a Pebble. At the end of the day, it is just a Watch and I can't justify spending more than £300 on it.

Oh. Well yes that part was debunked.

Please, Apple, announce a new lineup of Macbooks... I need a new one so bad :'(

If the 12" (Retina?) MBA appears, I fully expect a few things to happen as a consequence:

-the immediate removal of the 13" non-Retina MBP (their last computer with an optical drive) from the Apple Store
-some shakeups to the prices of the non-Retina MBAs and either a price cut or a spec boost to the Retina MBPs

Outside of the low screen resolution, the 13" MacBook Air right now is basically the perfect general-purpose laptop. It's so fucking good. But it's got to be preventing upsells to the Pro line because it's too good, and Apple probably doesn't like that. I expect the 12" superslim MBA to have a Retina display because I think Apple wants to standardize that, but I expect it otherwise to be a bit less powerful than the existing MBA line in a few ways, kind of like how the original MacBook Air was pretty weak spec-wise but eventually grew into itself as miniaturization/power-saving tech caught up.

christ, this will be the ugliest $1,000 watch ever made.

hmmm... was just thinking... maybe i'm different, but with watches pretty much being the only piece of 'jewelry' a dude has... you kinda want to differentiate yourself right? Which is why I got a limited edition Seamaster as my formal parties watch.

Just this thought of everyone with apple watches... makes me kinda not want one.

I think im a fedora!

I wish someone would tell that to guys in the city, everyone wears a bloody Rolex submariner. So boring.

Google Glass was a 1300$ closed beta, with 0 marketing.

The Apple watch doesn't seem poised to repeat those conditions, or the same outcome.

More importantly, to most people I imagine the idea of wearing a smart watch isn't nearly as ridiculous as wearing Google Glass is.

Nah, you just have good taste. The Apple Watch is just ugly as sin. They can stick it on as many supermodels' arms as they want, and it's not going to change that.

This thing is going to flop just like Google Glass.

I'd say more like Apple TV. Which is to say not a flop, but also not huge.

Depends on the price. If it's $400 or more, it's going to be a fool's mark of shame. I mean, seriously, how can anybody buy into it at that price and not feel at least somewhat silly?

Yikes, you really seem to have problems with the way people decide to spend their money.

If the Watch itself is useful and/or desirable then I don't think the price will matter that much. I, like many others, have spent much more than $400 on traditional watches and I've never felt the least bit silly. Also, it's already been announced that the price starts at $350.
