So since I'm still on a 3GS I should still upgrade right? All of you people not impressed or whatever are on 4s and not really needing the upgrade?
I'm on 3gs and I'm not impressed. Then I don't need a shit load of power to browse the internet.

My feeling is that while its a nice phone, as someone with a 4S you have to do some deep DEEP soul searching to justify upgrading to it right now. As stated in the earlier thread, I'll wait for the 5S and see the phone they *really* wanted to build.

yes. this is what I'm thinking, too. I'll stick with my 4S for another year at least.

but, when we look at the market as a whole, Apple never expects a significant portion of current model users to upgrade to the new model. they know a few will, but it's all about getting new users or 3GS or 4 users to upgrade. I think there's too many people on Gaf who forget this.

I wonder when the store will open for online preordering.

i read an article like a month ago that stated that if your grandfathered in your only option to get LTE is to upgrade your data plan.

im in the same predicament. i have an iphone 4 with unlimited data with at&t. i think sprint is the only carrier that has true unlimited LTE service. But im not sure how their service is.

edit: i have a friend who had unlimited data with at&t and an iphone. he upgraded his phone to a galaxy 3 and they gave him unlimited 4g service soooooooo i dunno.

don't listen to this human being. 3GS is a piece of shit in comparison for the retina display alone. That's just how it is. Maybe not a big deal for you but it's a huge damn deal in general. That's ignoring absolutely everything else.

Hmm I have an old 3GS but I think I have an unlimited data plan. I guess I should call them and ask them what they can do for me. I don't want to have to worry about going over some limit.

There is not nearly enough Panorama talk in this thread. It was apparently one of the biggest features.

For real? point and shot cameras have been doing this for ages and there are tons of apps that do that already.

As a matter of fact, Photosynth for iOS does it way better.

Do the panorama apps work like what they show in the video (@ 3:45)? If so, that's pretty great, never realized it was done so seamlessly, always thought they were apps that stitched multiple pictures together. The way it looks in the video makes it seem so effortless, just pan the phone and done.

That is nokia commercial worthy ;)

I like the Nano, but I hate that stupid white bezel. If I grab one, I guess it would be the black one as it's the only one without the white.

Thing is, I'm not too happy about possibly going back to iTunes if I get a Nano. The Zune software kind of spoiled me.

I love my shuffle.. perfect work out iPod. I would like to get a new one but the fact they've remained 2 GB for like 4-5 years is crazy. It must cost pennies at most to go from 2 to 4 GB at this point.. their steadfast refusal to upgrade it seems odd to me.

Looking at the hands on impressions, I think they've done enough to keep me from getting a Galaxy S3. With the trade in of my iPhone 4, it shouldn't cost anything to upgrade either way.

Can I ask you a question? What are you wanting/expecting in the 5S, in the 'phone they *really* wanted to build. You know it will in all likelihood look identical. So, what are the major changes you expect to see? Can you provide a list? I'm curious, because apart from spec upgrades, I can't think of anything major.

And yeah, if I was a 4S owner, I wouldn't jump on this, but then again, I don't see why those that own that phone are so compelled to replace it less than a year after launch, or why they believe Apple should market this phone solely to them.

I have the 4S and will be looking at whatever windows releases over the next month or so and then decide. No rush to get the 5. I put it in a case when I buy it anyway so the back and sides don't mean much. *

*i told myself the same thing when I had the 3GS and when the 4s was released I walked in an att store to look at it and left with thee 4s that same day. Give me strength next week

Also: any word from AT&T to confirm we'll lose our grandfathered unlimited plans if we upgrade?

This is what I'm wondering as well. If I need to change plans then I might go elsewhere instead.

Whoa! They headphone jack is on the bottom of the phone? Yes! About time.

Ack, so I'm not really a big Apple guy (simply because I'm a dumb phone user and don't want to shell out for a data plan) but this keynote did have pretty much the one thing that I was interested in, that being an upgrade to the iPod Touch. There is tons of goodness on the AppStore these days, and I'd love to get in on some of that with an improved Touch. But man that price still stings, $300 for the base improved model is just still too rich for my blood.
