This is the best developer reaction they've gotten since they opened the App Store.

Nobody saw Swift coming - people were praying for it but nobody expected it.

Beta today for iOS8?

Now... who can I beg to add my handset to their Developer thingy?

Hang on... I was on someone's for iOS7. I wonder if I still am?

Phone wars be damned, I'm an Android user through and through and this is exciting. Competition drives innovation and Android suddenly has a hell of a lot of competition to answer to. I/O is gonna be exciting.

Plus, it means more of the world gets to use features I love and others they'll grow to, and that's great for everybody.

A developer-centric keynote through-and-through.

Apple was due to revamp the underpinnings, and even the dev community was skeptical they'd care enough to do it. Guess they just held everything back for one huge release.

As a DEV conference, I'm not sure that matters. LOL
You know what would be really nice? Actual 10bit support. Windows and Linux has it but Apple's OSX doesn't.

That might not interest you but it interests me because it'd mean I wouldn't have to keep on moving to Linux or Windows if I wanted to work.
