Ok, I think im hooked. Despite the change from what the original trailer "seemed" to present the game to be. Not really a fan of extraction shooters and not a fan of things like sorting/crafting/inventory management neither really but this has those vibes i like, visual looks and good gameplay that makes me want to come back and has me thinking about it when im not playing it. That's a good thing. This looking like my next shooter and I still haven't got the chance to play with my friends yet.Played one round. Solo because I didn't want to play with randoms. It felt nerve racking. Definitely don't see myself playing this game much solo lol. I ran into 4 people in that round. I hid and avoided 3 of them while I fought off bots in the buildings. Met one at the extract that I didn't see until I was about to get in the lift(after I had already called for extract). I fired a couple shots but didn't push and just decided it wasn't worth it. Caught the next lift but had to fight off a couple of wasps and got in. I think I was shot at by another player while it was closing but I wasn't sure. Made out with things that weren't special lol.
I somewhat became more interested in it after one round. I need to play 3 more rounds so I can get those invites for my friends and try to get a feel of whether I will end up buying this. The whole inventory thing I really don't enjoy and I move at a snails pace doing it. I do like the sliding, it also helped me get down from high places by sliding off the side instead of going back through the building to get to the bottom. So the mechanics I think seemed pretty good in that time I played so far. Other than that, the graphics are very good outside of some textures issues at times. The audio is great too of course.
This Chris from LSM sounds rather simple minded.Yes that's what Chris was saying on LSM about arc is that with third person that PVP gets a bit cheap. Camping seems like it will be an issue in Arc is another Problem. Chris from LSM said camping doesn't happen in Marathon it just doesn't work as well or something I forget his reasoning.
Sure it's naturally effective but it's not natural to sit in a corner but still be able to see outside of the building around you. It makes camping a lot easier to do. It's also IMO just not a fun when to many people are camping. I was glad to hear Marathon doesn't have it so I'm looking forward to giving it a try and see how it plays compared to Arc. Right now I just want better guns\gunplay in general. Arc isn't bad but I feel like it can be done better and I'm just not a fan of 3rd person for these sort of games in general. This Chris from LSM sounds rather simple minded.
3rd person perspective recreates real life far better than 1st person perspective because camping IRL is naturally effective.
It only takes a child who's played hide and go seek once or twice, to realize how effective hiding is while having eyes on your opponent.
First person games do a poor job at recreating the tactical advantage camping players have.
Sure it's naturally effective but it's not natural to sit in a corner but still be able to see outside of the building around you.

3rd person recreates mid to long range situational awareness (while in hiding) far better than first person.
3rd person recreates short range advantage far better than first person.
There really is no logical defense of first person in games that are semi grounded. The only place 1st person makes sense is when reflex and aim skill is the point of the game rather than tactical position.
I'll have your code. PC would be best but any system will do. Thank you.I have one code available for anyone that wants one.
DM'd.I'll have your code. PC would be best but any system will do. Thank you.
Dont think so, but i do wonder if the jump packs are still in or not. They were in the first trailer, but the game was differentCan you get a parachute? Just want to jump of a building sometimes.
Valid.I guess that's the issue I don't want to play a game where tactical position i.e. camping in one spot provides you with a huge advantage. If that's what you're looking for more power to you. I want something different.
They 100% are. PvE 3rd person is great but it is rough in PvP, especially for mil sims, which Arc Raiders is. Everybody is just sight cheating and camping behind cover. I would love the immersiveness of this world in first person too. I'm guessing Embark wanted to distinguish themselves from Tarkov by going 3rd person. There is a reason why no popular gaas games have grounded PvP combat in 3rd person. It's just not that enjoyable. This would probably be my favorite gaas game ever if it were a FPPValid.
I just bristle at the idea that 3rd PP is somehow "cheap" or "inferior" to FPP when it comes to these types of games.
I always prefer first person in shooters. Third person is totally cheating. Third person shooting is also a more floaty and fidgety. They 100% are. BTW, there needs to be a Fallout version of this game. It would be too perfect and a cash cow
LMAO Arc Raiders is certainly not a mil sim.ally for mil sims, which Arc Raiders is.
Fair, I should have said grounded combatLMAO Arc Raiders is certainly not a mil sim.
This game would be way better in first person. Corner camping is super lame. I literally play PUBG in third person when I wanna mess around with people, serious play for first person. They 100% are. PvE 3rd person is great but it is rough in PvP, especially for mil sims, which Arc Raiders is. Everybody is just sight cheating and camping behind cover. Military training puts a lot of time into learning how to breach and enter doorways (fatal funnels) because campers are so deadly when hiding in rooms. They 100% are. Yeah, couldn't find one. Had to go down stairs a few levels to get one finally, and in opposite directionDont think so, but i do wonder if the jump packs are still in or not. They were in the first trailer, but the game was different
Also just use ziplines![]()
Military training puts a lot of time into learning how to breach and enter doorways (fatal funnels) because campers are so deadly when hiding in rooms.
In FPP games, doorways are not fatal funnels because it's so easy for a high aim skill / high reflex based gamer to speed through them quickly.
3PP games give doorways the more realistic fatal funnel effect.
The truly tactical minded gamer prefers 3PP. It is objectively superior. The hierarchy has been established. Amen.
The only people who prefer FPP are the geese from that 90's movie Fly Away Home who got attached to a particular game in their formative years and have cemented their mindset believing an ultralight is mother goose.
Autistic take.Men_in_Boxes attempting to reframe consequence-free extra-sensory intel gathering as a feature, and not an inherent flaw, in PVP combat based around an orbiting camera:
I really hope they implement a FPP down the line. Embark employees have a bunch of FPP experience with Battlefield and the Finals. Probably the only reason why Arc Raiders is 3rd person is because it was originally a PvE game, which makes sense for it to be third person instead of firstThis game would be way better in first person. Corner camping is super lame. I literally play PUBG in third person when I wanna mess around with people, serious play for first person.
How is that tactical? It's a little scary how many people don't understand tactical concepts.
Do you ever watch movies or TV shows or footage of war or police shootouts? Have you ever played paintball or used nerf guns at all when you were a kid?How is that tactical?
I used to pop out in Gears from around a corner (like I said above) and blast guys with a shotgun because I can see them but they cant see me.
I get that. Running out in the open is always a bad idea unless someone likes meat grinder tactics.Do you ever watch movies or TV shows or footage of war or police shootouts? Have you ever played paintball or used nerf guns at all when you were a kid?
You don't not run out in the open towards a person in an advantageous position.
When your enemy holes up in an advantageous position, you pick the best possible counter tactic to root them out.
Shroud is retarded here because the defensive player wants Shroud to expose his full body by running directly at him. That's exactly what the defensive player was hoping he would do.

I'm just talking about Shrouds short clip here.I get that. Running out in the open is always a bad idea unless someone likes meat grinder tactics.
In COD, I use claymores and betties to protect a perimeter. But since it's first person, I still got to see enemies with my view. I cant duck behind a crate and still see enemies like in third person. Anyone doing this is staring at a crate till you pop back up.
I was just talking FPV vs TPV as some of us were talking cam style.
me plsAnyone still needs a code?
He dodges...Autistic take.
...then accuses people of dodging. Well, if you insist:The FPP geese can't address my points because they're so convinced the ultralight is their mother.
In Arc Raiders, the "soldier" cannot conduct breaching operations because he can't even get near the doorway. So, yes, campers are deadly, but in third-person they're even deadlier for reasons your analogy ignores.Military training puts a lot of time into learning how to breach and enter doorways (fatal funnels) because campers are so deadly when hiding in rooms.
So, because a "high aim skill / high reflex based gamer" risks leveraging his skill and reflexes to survive breaching and entering a doorway, this makes doorways not fatal funnels in first-person shooters? Good lord.In FPP games, doorways are not fatal funnels because it's so easy for a high aim skill / high reflex based gamer to speed through them quickly.
Omniscience does not add to any part of a game's realisticity.3PP games give doorways the more realistic fatal funnel effect.
Hey, I don't mind using cheap tricks against bots in PVE. Fuck those bots. The truly tactical minded gamer prefers 3PP. It is objectively superior. The hierarchy has been established. Amen.
And you're Littlefoot from that '80s movie The Land Before Time when he mistakes the size of his own shadow on the wall for the next big live service paradigm shift, but as it turns out, it was just Marathon. The only people who prefer FPP are the geese from that 90's movie Fly Away Home who got attached to a particular game in their formative years and have cemented their mindset believing an ultralight is mother goose.
Tried to give it one more go to see if it would click, but I honestly can't see the lasting appeal.
PvP is kinda fun, reminds me a bit of TLOU Factions 1.
But PvE is absolutely sleep-inducing. It's just boring.
Was watching one of those publuc events with an Harvester and a Queen spider-thing protecting it. You can just sneak past that Queen boss and you have to do some basic puzzle that offers zero challenge.
To each his own, I guess, but people are grossly overselling this game. Lol
This is a semi valid point (finally!). In 3rd person games, the fatal funnel inverts from at the doorway to leading up to the doorway. In Arc Raiders, the "soldier" cannot conduct breaching operations because he can't even get near the doorway. So, yes, campers are deadly, but in third-person they're even deadlier for reasons your analogy ignores.
Yes.So, because a "high aim skill / high reflex based gamer" risks leveraging his skill and reflexes to survive breaching and entering a doorway, this makes doorways not fatal funnels in first-person shooters? Good lord.
It does. I've explained why numerous times. TPP represents a camper / stealth players situational awareness far better than FPP.Omniscience does not add to any part of a game's realisticity.
I don't mind using corner peak against brain dead players. F*** brain dead players.Hey, I don't mind using cheap tricks against bots in PVE. Fuck those bots.
I got ARC Raiders right though didn't I. What was your big prediction again? And you're Littlefoot from that '80s movie The Land Before Time when he mistakes the size of his own shadow on the wall for the next big live service paradigm shift, but as it turns out, it was just Marathon.
