Arcade Fire announce "The Suburbs"

I think this is one of the best records of the past 10 years or so.

It's true that it's a tad too long. I guess they could have maybe cut out a song? Maybe "Deep Blue"? It's hard though cause I do think they are all at LEAST solid songs.

And I think this is their best work to date.

Honestly though, I never really got THAT into their first two. I feel like I'll revisit them though and like them more now that I'm so into "Suburbs."

I want to make a music video for "City with No Children." That song IS IT.

Deep Blue is great >:(

I'd ditch City With No Children I guess.

If I HAD to remove a song, that or Month Of May would be it. I'd probably lean towards Month Of May just because it sticks out on the otherwise extremely cohesive and "flowing" record.

But I love the album as it is.

That riff gets annoying after awhile. It's not bad but it's far from the best.

To each his own, I suppose. I can't get enough of the riff. Plus, it doesn't get in the way of the song too much. It just pokes through pauses by Win.

I'm absolutely in love with Sprawl II.
Haven't even listened to much else on the album.
I just keep returning to that one song. :lol

I've been listening to this album pretty much non-stop. It will take a long time to catch up to Funeral (# of listens) and will probably never reach it, but I love this album.

It seemed a bit lowkey, but I'm glad that they just did a straight-up performance. Ready to Start was near-perfect. It's probably better for the band's exposure if they don't try too hard to replicate their usual concert craziness and loudness on cable television. Of course, Month of May helped them offer a little of both worlds.

I'm trying to learn Suburban War on the guitar. There are no good tabs yet, so I have to figure it out by ear. I think I mostly have it, but I looked at some videos, and my finger positions don't look anything like what the guitarist is playing.

I kinda feel that they should have done a different set list at the Daily Show.
Audio levels seemed really low so that may have been the issue.

The MSG performance of Sprawl II is so great. It's a shame Régine went off key a couple moments (especially at the start), but her performance is mesmerizing.

Awesome that it went number 1. I knew they were popular but not that popular. Still haven't fully caught on in Australia, I think.

Finally saw some of the MSG performance, as I didn't want to ruin the experience of seeing them at Lollapalooza this past weekend. I must say, for those of you saying their set on the Daily Show is lowkey, I thought the MSG show compared to Lollapalooza was lowkey.

They seemed to have much more energy at the Lolla show. The entire experience blew me away. I camped out for a front row spot on Sunday and it was worth it waiting 6 hours to get that close. Best performance at Lollapalooza and out of the hundreds of concerts I've been to, one of my favorite.

Pretty much been spinning this nonstop since release day.

Suburban War is downright haunting. Like a song that was dug up from centuries ago.

Interpol are kinda cold on stage but Berninger puts on one of the best drunk live performances I've ever seen. Both sound great live, and Arcade Fire put on a hell of a show, too. You are very, very lucky.

I'm beyond excited for the show in Toronto tomorrow evening.

Coming off of MSG, #1 in the US, UK, and Canada - this band has gone interstellar.

Wouldn't be surprised if this becomes pretty big over here. I've heard so much more buzz about this than Neon Bible.

So yeah, over the past week I bought this and used it as my gateway to this band. They're one of those bands that everyone keeps raving about but I never got around too listening to.

I really dig what they've done with this. So restrained in that perfect way that makes the 'big' moments pack so much of a punch. I love it when an album clicks with me like this. I know I'll be listening to the thing front to back for a while yet.

Listening to The Suburbs while coming back from Boston and NYC to Detroit....hot damn. Time to listen to this some more while writing social and urban development theories.

I got tickets to the Berkeley show and I lucked out and got tix to the big sur show. Big sur will be outside in the redwood forest, with a 400 max capacity. It sold out in 2 seconds, but my friend who is a software engineer did some snooping before the sale and found the link before the official sale started. SOOOOOOOO LUCKY. :D

Here is a pic from the back of the venue:

Concert streaming again on the YouTube page.

Also constantly listening to this album, can't see it not being my AOTY unless Panda Bear surprises or Radiohead ever releases.

Awesome!! Make sure to post a review when you see that show. That place looks incredible

So.. for some reason this album won't let me do genius mixes out of it in iTunes. Anyone else have that issue? If I try, it just says that Genius is unavailable for the song. I've tried updating Genius to no avail. Anyone else have the same issue?

I've been listening to this a ton with my zune trial. Didn't click with me immediately, and I'm still not nuts about it, although I'm starting to like it a lot more. Suburbs II is soooo good. The problem I have with it is that it just sounds way more generic contemporary rock to me than arcade-fire-y. I'm definitely liking it better than neon bible so far though.
