Are these games cooked?

  • Press F to pay respects

  • They’re coming, calm down

Both of these games were announced 5 years ago, and were not shown during today's Xbox Showcase.

Fable was slated for a 2025 release, until it was pushed back again in February.

Gameplay was shown for Perfect Dark last year but was absent in this year's show and still has no release window.

PD being in trouble is the norm. As for Fable, they might be cleaning it out off of dei pollution after seeing Avowed. Super disappointing that they didn't close their show with one of these two.

Perfect Dark featuring Jaw-ana Dark looked crap from the beggining.

Fable might be in a bit of trouble but I can see that one coming out nicely in the end.

It's certainly not a good look.

Unless they're saving them for another show (is there one?) then yes, they're f*cked
And even if there was another show, they'd at least show something, or tease them

A lot of these trailers in these shows are 2026 games, and look kind of rough (choppy framerate etc). So with that in mind, yea both these games are in deep trouble. Except both in 2027 at the earliest at this point which is insane.

I can't imagine the expectations of Perfect Dark are all that high as it doesn't have a ton of brand recognition anymore.

I just don't get how we DO get new and quite lengthy footage of Clockwork Revolution which still doesn't even have a release window, but Fable is nowhere to be seen.

Probably in the process of coagulating into real playable games with limitations rather than being these massive idealistic things we were pitched on.

I skipped the last two Xbox gens, but I do miss the Xbox even if I am more of a Sony and Nintendo fan. I hate the fact that there are franchises and games from Xbox's yesteryears that are not being redone. I would love to see them come to Nintendo and Sony consoles but also see them come back to Xbox again so that people who prefer Xbox to other consoles can also have them again if they want to.

I miss:
Infinite Undiscovery
Blue Dragon
Phantasy Star Universe looked and ran better on 360 then it did on PS2 for some reason
Fable Trilogy.
Venetica
Xbox has Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, which is nice, but since I do not have Xboxes anymore, I want it on PS5 and Switch.
Jade Empire

They literally said fable is 2026 in the showcase along with gears, Forza (horizon I assume) and halo (once again I assume as didn't name it)

Hopefully there's a chance of seeing it at GC or maybe TGA. But a dev direct seems more likely in early 2026.

It just sucks. I mean we did get rather long gameplay of Clockwork Revolution and that is coming out god knows when, but Fable which was supposed to drop this year is.....nowhere.

When it's all said and done, starting today, the way to end up with the most money with these two projects is to cancel them tomorrow. Total sales of both will not cover the cost incurred between tomorrow -> product EOL. I can 100% guarantee it.

haven't they always been in trouble?

you may as well throw in State of Decay 3 also, that whole presser where they were all announced the games were in trouble.

Wasn't contraband in it also? Pretty sure that games dead.

From a pure economics standpoint, yes. From a brand reputation perspective, that'd be costly.

I think everyone considers Perfect Dark a write-off. There's nothing of interest there for fans of the franchise, and for everyone else, it looks like a "well...why?" kinda game that's not gonna pull them away from their Fortnite or whatever.

However, the snippets shown of Fable reveal a game that might actually be fun to play, and is probably sitting pretty on a lot of peoples' radar screens. Killing that would probably be the self-infliction of a fatal wound for what little remains of Team Xbox's corporeal form.

Literally from the conference.

I'm excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War E-Day, and the return of a classic that's been with us since the beginning.

I remember hearing that but I didn't understand what he was talking about. So next year will be a big year?

New entries in core Xbox franchises to celebrate the 25th anniversary year.

When he says Forza, I'm assuming he's talking about a new Motorsport, PG is all hands on deck with Fable so very unlikely that a new Forza Horizon is coming out the same year.
