Are PSPs hard to find right now?

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
What a fitting way to end my last day at work :lol I had my PSP sitting on the counter plugged in with the AC, got up, and the chair caught on the power cable and pulled the PSP off the counter. Now there's several huge cracks inside the LCD and I get no picture.

I'm leaving the country in two weeks. Do I even want to bother trying to get this (Japanese) PSP repaired? I'm about to go and see if I can find a brand new (U.S.) one; hope they aren't hard to find. We have a used 1.5 firmware system here, but it's got a huge scratch on the screen, so I guess for now that's the end of PSP emulators for me. Time for the 2.0 update I guess.

So I'm just curious if the PSP fever is over and I'll be able to go buy one at EB; I want to trade a bunch of stuff in towards one...

Not hard to find. In fact you can get a used/refurbed one for about 50 bucks less. Of course you always have the white japanese one too.

They're really easy to find. Sony shipped so many of them. There's easily about 15 at least in the shelves whenever I go to my local Target or Best Buy.

And as insight, if that were a Nintendo product it wouldn't have broke.

I think the screen cracked because of the Pelican screen protector I had over the system; it hit the ground when it was open and it may have smashed into the screen. Good protection job, huh? :P The screen protector WAS unaffected though.

Yeah, this does give me an excuse to buy the white system now, but I don't want to wait. I've got a 15 hour plane flight ahead of me, and I need that PSP! :lol

Because it would be safe on the shelf?

My DS fell out of my pocket when I was bike riding to the mall. There were a couple scrapes from the cement but it works just as good and the scrapes on the corners are covered up when I'm playing.

Would extended warranties / replacement warranties cover this? I'd assume so, but I haven't heard from anybody who's actually replaced a damaged one (minus the pixel/button launch stuff).

Yea, well you have been successful with your troll, now go back under the bridge.

But seriously, if anyone finds a 1.50 PSP hook me up. I want one.

That means you too Wario64, punk bitch. Help me out.

:lol This is GAF. This thread should be closed because here's the two answers:

DS fan - There's so many PSPs that they're being used as paper weights and makeshift bricks for construction.

PSP fan - They are so tough to find because they instantly sell out everytime the stores get them in!

you didn't offer nearly enough evidence to call your claim "truth". all you offered was one personal experience.

You didn't know that Sony's systems are less durable than Nintendo's? Nintendo's are built like tanks almost. It's probably because more kids handle them.

I've dropped my PSP on a hard tile floor fomr several feet up and I've seen a PSP launch onto blacktop. Both were just fine. My PSP is undamaged and my friends is just a bit scratched in some areas.

Of course, a larger, more delicate LCD is going to break easier. That's hardly Sony's fault. The DS has a better design in the fact that it is a clamshell.

I don't disagree that Nintendo builds their machines like tanks. I very rarely buy used systems, but I bought my GC used back in 2002 simply because I was not even slightly worried about problems. They build fantastic hardware and have great support.

The PSP is not as delicate as you seem to think, however.

Well, it can't have had far to fall off of your tricycle. Riding you bike to the mall??? :lol

Now THAT'S blatant trolling.

I guess you guys haven't seen the videos of the GCN being pulled by the tow truck or know about PS2 DREs, etc.

Well, lucky for me, my friend is going to sell me his 1.5 PSP system. I'm going to give him $200 for it.

Actually the DS' top screen seems prone ot breaking when people put it in their pants or sit on it, unlike the GBA or GBASP. Every single broken DS story I've read is about the top screen. Something's wrong there.

It's trolling because you have 1)no evidence to back up your claim 2)you are a known nintendo fan 3) you are in a specific PSP thread saying this crap about the DS knowing full well what you are doing to rile up people

Stop playing stupid. It makes you look even worse.

You should watch out. Your buddy CoolTrick has already gotten the hook.

-sigh-

Yes, we know the GC is extremely durable. However, disc read errors, 9 times out of 10, are not caused by hardware failure. That is, the hardware is not physically broken. No replacement parts are required and the fix is actually very simple. To the average joe, however, it's a real problem. It's a bad design on their part.

My system is Japanese, so no warranty as far as I know.

I'd take a picture but I don't have a digital camera. :(

But I still think it's odd that you people don't know how durable most Nintendo products are, especially compared to Sony's.

EVERYBODY DOES KNOW. Good lord.

There isn't a single person in here that would tell you otherwise. You are not, I repeat, not being threatened. Just settle down...

How did this thread turn into a flame war? I'm asking if PSP systems are hard to find because I honestly have no idea...I don't go into stores looking for items I already own.

It's GAF law. All PSP and/or DS threads MUST be trolled.

"On the back of the PSP box by the barcodes, there will be either an ‘A’, ‘B’, or nothing at all located below “120V”. If you do not have a letter that means it was purchased sometime near the US release (meaning 1.50). Having the letter ‘A’ means that the firmware is a 1.50, and seeing a letter ‘B’ there means 1.51. Now you won’t have to open the box to know your firmware, and most people are willing to find you a PSP box with the letter ‘A’ or no letter at all."

If you search you might be able to find a 1.5.
