Are the Cleveland Browns the worst franchise in all of sports?

Browns Fans Shot The Saddest Goddamn Videos As Their Team Blew It Once Again

If the Superbowl era of football I don't know if the Browns have even gone to their conference title game. I think every other team has

I don't think the Lions have. If memory serves me right they never won their games where they had a bye week in the playoffs. So that means their one playoff win was a wild card which means they never passed the divisional playoffs.

they were in the NFC championship against the Redskins, and defeated the Cowboys in the divisional champioship

While people are throwing out baseball teams, what about the Pirates? They've only been above .500 6 years of my entire 31 years of existence.

They've been to the playoffs three years in a row, had the 2nd best record in all of baseball this year, have won five World Series, nine pennants, seventeen total playoff appearances, and have a winning record for the history of their franchise. Hardly material for the worst team in sports.

76's
Browns
Marlins
Rockies
Leafs

Seems like there are just a lot of horribly run sports franchises as of late but the Browns are pretty darn bad. A lot of franchises can say they have it bad but Browns bad? Ehhh.

Locally speaking, except for the Broncos, Denver sports are all special sorts of awful. Nuggets bad, Avalanche bad...Rockies...LOL.
Marlins do not belong on that list. They have 2 World Series titles in the last 20 years.

Anyone who says 76ers needs to understand, the last 4 years are not the norm. The 76ers have had great players through decades and championships. Tanking for 4 years doesn't make a franchise the worst

Browns have more championships than a number of other NFL franchises, so they aren't even the worst organization in the NFL. I'd say that belongs to the Eagles.

I love the Browns, but they just can't get their shit together. Talking about the draft by week 10 every year is just disheartening. Luckily, the Cavs are back to their winning ways (2010-2014 was not fun to watch night in & night out) and the Crew are hosting the MLS Cup!

1994 is really saving the New York Rangers from being involved in this conversation. Their only championship in the last 75 years.

The team only had 3 championships in the first 40+ years of their existence in which there were only around 5-7 other teams in the entire league.

Sixers may suck now but they're one of the most storied franchises is nba history.

Eagles and Phillies would be better Philly candidates ;_;

I feel bad for the browns though. Original team moved to Baltimore and won 2 super bowls

It's a battle between the Lions, Browns, Clippers and Cubs. The Browns have at least made a Super Bowl since the Super Bowl era started. The Detroit Lions have only won one playoff game in the last 50 years and have not reached the Super Bowl (despite having some solid teams).

The Detroit Lions though have been relevant since 2010 in the NFL and the Browns somehow managed to match the Lions in futility from 2000-2008 when Matt Millen was our GM.

The Cubs haven't won anything since what, 1918? They've had recent success though.

The cubs made it to the World series in 45 though and have made the playoffs 03,07,08,15.

I know these new Browns get to keep their records from the previous team that was the Browns and is now the Ravens. But as an organization, this is still the youngest team in the NFL franchise-wise, and they've been shit the entire time. The Ravens are the true continuation of what the Browns started decades ago.

Mike Pettine looks like a walking thumb.

The Browns are so consistently bad its hard to think of another team out there that matches their level of assness.

As bad as Cleveland has it overall, Philadelphia is having an epically TERRIBLE year overall so far. Hell, the Phillies have the highest win % of their teams this year, and they were the worst MLB team this past season by far.

This graphic is a couple days old, but gives you a general idea:

And it should be noted that all the 76ers wins for the calendar year are from LAST season. They're 0-18 right now.

I am cry.

By far the worst era of Philly sports I've experienced. I feel you Cleveland.

In North American sports it has to be the Cubs. Full stop.

Last world series win in 1908 (107 years)
Last world series appearance 1945 (70 years)

Nobody can even come close to that.

Out of curiosity, why the Bengals? Aside from the lost decade from the 90's to the early 2000's which I'll be the first to admit was a shit show, they've been nowhere near the worst franchise.

The Bengals are good unless you put a spotlight on them. While they have a fantastic record, they seemingly crack during primetime and it shows. The last playoff game they won was over two decades ago, even though they have successful seasons. They do look more improved than previous years under Dalton, but their last two primetime games have both been losses this year.

The Cubs even had the Back to the Future 2 team of destiny factor backing them and still couldn't get the job done. Plus they have a fanbase that lays blame on people like Steve Bartman in order to dodge the fact that their team just chokes.

Cubs get my vote

Wrigley Field is an absolute dump, too

To be fair, with the number of teams in these leagues now, many of them will be without titles over the past 100 years in 2115.

When we win 3 in the next 10 all that will be forgotten. I'm tired of hearing it already.

I have to laugh at folks that actually think the Oilers are up there for the worst NA sports franchises. Yes they have been shit for almost a decade now and have pissed off the majority of its fans with it's idiocy but...

Oilers' dynasty era shields them. Leafs have been consistantly worse

As long as that holds, they are nowhere near the bottom 5 (maybe even bottom 10). Maple Leafs, Browns, Cubs, Coyotes and the Detroit Lions are far worse in comparison.

That would be the Texans

Since Cleveland's season is over in terms of playoff contention, I don't know why they don't throw in drunk Johnny Manziel at QB. Go ahead and let him chug a few beers before each quarter, and watch him entertain the fans. Solidify that #1 pick in the draft, then let go of Manziel at the end of the season.

Coincidentally the Cleveland show sucked.

madness! I didn't like it when it aired admittedly but I recently watched it all the way through on Netflix and it is now my favorite animated series. It's a shame it's off the air. Not a fan of Donna or Roberta but Rallo, Jr., and Cleveland are great characters.

I think Jr is my favorite animated character of all time. He always makes me laugh.

Philadelphia 76ers are intentionally losing games every year to get the highest draft pick.

But since the NBA uses a lottery system, they haven't won the #1 overall pick yet.

Every time the Sixers have a player step up and look good, they trade him.

So, for right now, the 76ers are the worst franchise in the world.

So far as the Big-4 non-soccer sports go.

Did you watch the game last night? The final 2 minutes speaks for itself.

The Indians were great through the mid to late 90s though. Maybe recently they are pretty bad but they don't belong in this conversation imo.

Also, as the chart in this thread shows, they have the seventh-highest winning percentage of all MLB teams. It's been a long time since the last championship (1948) but they're not the worst sports team.

Of course. And you can keep harping on the whole playoff thing, but again, why the worst franchise? Are people really saying that they'd be happier with the Browns' perpetual cycle of despair, first round draft busts, quarterback/management/coaching carousels, then being an annual playoff contender (despite the losses?)

And to be fair, yeah you're right; the Bengals' last two primetime games they lost, one of which was as tight a game as they come, the other a complete shitshow. But if we're looking at recent history, the two regular season primetime games before then, they won (Browns Thursday night, Denver, Monday Night last year).

I don't think they are intentionally losing right now...they are just losing. I'm sure they would have tanked for picks but not 0-18 level tanking. You can see them struggling real bad on the floor now.
