Are you a PS5 Pro in 2020 believer?

As our comrade Zenji Nishikawa claims, a Pro model might launch alongside the base PS5.

Bear in mind this is no woke console warrior posting BS on Twatter for internet points.

This is a respected and well known individual with a solid background in predicting/leaking the ps4 pro and the Nintendo Switch Lite.

Do you believe it? How much would you give for a ps5 pro and what specs and features would it need to meet for you?

14Tflop variable clock for 600 sounds nice.

I don't think so but I really have no idea.

I would definitely buy it, but I don't think they have a Pro model lined up this year. I'd expect it in 2022.

edit

2022 at earliest, I should say

Less and less each week I'm not even sure PS5 will launch this year, but will have to see how this coronavirus situation pans outs.

If there is one, then the Pro model is the one that was discussed already. Why would their first public discussion of hardware be the weak one?

I'd rather they release a pro in 2023 with much better tech. What would be possible then? Is 20 teraflops/4.5 GH CPU/32GB RAM/2TB SSD crazy, even if it's a 600 dollar console?

Nah. A normal PS5 is what's releasing at launch. If a PS5 pro comes it'll be 2022 or 2023. Though, I don't think it should come at all. The only reason we got a pro in the first place was because of PSVR.

Considering how funky their new "base" model turned I highly doubt it.

Why would they put out a perfectly designed pro model alongside a lower spec but high end model like what they've shown that was obviously overclocked to hell and back just to compete?

After all the negative press no one would even want to buy it and would feel forced to spend the extra money for the better console.

It wouldn't be a matter of selecting either the entry model or premium model like a Lockhart vs Anaconda situation.

That would be such a huge waste of money for Sony I dont think they would be that stupid.

The new console is what it is.

It may not be 12tf but it will still have absolutely incredible games for everyone to play.

- I just assume it is the base model because of the 36CU overclocked beyond oblivion situation.

- The proper announcement with trailers/controller/features and a "one more thing" moment announcing a top end model would create even more buzz.

it just seems so illogical. It would shoot themselves in the foot 3-4 years down the road when they will need a more powerful console for 8K and VR

I truly don't like the idea of having mid-gen releases of Consoles during their life time. They should just stick to their main console till the next one.

After what Sony have showed us until now I'm highly convinced that Sony's Engineering Team is not capable of building a console which will top the XBox Series X.

I really don't want to be rude, and I highly respect Mark Cerny, but the PS5 is in my opinion a not well thought out system in many ways.

Microsoft on the other hand thought about every single detail, nothing is in the XBox Series X without a reason, it's an engineered masterpiece, and you can already feel and see that though Microsoft really good PR and Marketing work. You can see that Microsoft is really confident in their Product, and that they had alot of fun building it together, the XBox Series X is a love letter to all XBox Fans! :D

And please don't let me get started now about Sony :D

Why you need a pro model with 14tflops when you have that SSD that is more important thant the tflops. Just put a even faster SSD in there and it will perform even better

Just joking, im gonna buy the PS5 but i don't think the Pro will come out before 2023

Yes, with the even a few more teraflops super pro slim being the midgeneration console. Companies are gonna see just how many dips they can get out of consumers.

What was the reason the Pro launched in the first place? Why did Sony look at the console landscape and think, we need a mid gen refresh? In my opinion it was because of 4k TVs. They were coming on strong and neither console could boast any kind of 4k support. They were both stuck in 1080. With this next gen 4k will be solidly supported. I do not think 8k will be much of an issue before the next gen is over, so I do not expect a mid gen refresh. Happy to be wrong about that though.

I'm not even sure there will be Pro models this gen, not for a fair few years anyway. XB1/PS4 were underpowered at launch, XSX and PS5 are not. And part of the point of the Pro consoles were for much higher resolutions, and i doubt 8ktv's are going to make a dent in the market anytime soon.

If they actually did a Pro model, I wouldn't be sure wtf they're thinking business-wise.... but I would buy the Pro version without a doubt.

If the PS5's SSD is any indication of quickness. The PS5 Pro will be hitting store shelves very fast.

I'm sorry that was bad. I'm better than this...

Same was said back then also for 4k, the way that Samsung and LG is marketing 8k lately is a hint that they whant to push it as soon as possible. Just look at Samsung's latest line up for 2020, the 4K tv's didn't get any update, infact they where downgraded. The 8K tv's however have the latest tech and have better quality (outside the 8K resolution ofcourse). So i wouldn't be surprised if whe get a Pro by the end of 2023.

Wouldn't make sense to talk about the weaker console if a pro version was launching beside it, so if anything the PS5 announced would be the pro version if two consoles launched simultaneously.

Samsung can sell 32K TVs if they want

The point is that there's no 8K content to watch

Broacasting has been stuck at 1080i for almost 15 years. They still have to make a huge shift from 1080i to 2160p

35mm film can't resolve 8K resolution so you shouldn't even buy old movies remastered in 8K

And that without even considering the size of the screen required: 8K resolution would require a 100 inches Tv at home to see the difference from 4K.

It's pointless

LMAO PS5 haven't been released yet and you People thinking about PRO version
damn we definitely need Ken back

Don't think so. Not sure we even need it. Played RE3 demo last night on the Pro and X and thought why do we even need nextgen.

Weak CPU, Original PS4 and Original XB1 is the problem
