And you're good until fall of '27 at the earliest and second half Playstation is just beginning. But yeah, the right TV is a must for the Pro especially
Completely agree. I've got a 77' CX and my buddy is still rocking an 8 year old 70' Samsung. When we both got pros, he couldn't see much of a difference until he came to my house. Needless to say, he's now looking to upgrade his TV lol.

Having owned it for a few months now, it went from a 7/10 to a 9/10 when Assassins Creed Shadows came out. A real "holy shit this is next-gen" experience that made me very glad to own a Pro. The PSSR update for it was really really good - just go up to viewpoint and watch as the camera pans around, there is next to no shimmering.

Well, it's finally here. Dunno about everything else, but it's soooo much smaller than my launch PS5 DE footprint-wise.
7W2ctQG.jpeg

Let me second how impressed I am with the depth of the system. How they managed to make it overall smaller than the launch model is super impressive.

Mines silent too. So I'm happy on that front!

Ok. First day experiences. Loaded up gran turismo and couldn't really tell a difference. Guess it was always high res and 60 fps. Should I be playing on resolution or performance. I set to resolution.

Then I fired up astro bot and I started to feel a little disappointed. This looks the same too.

Started to feel a touch of buyers remorse.

Fired up returnal! Now we are talking. The image looks so crisp. 100% happy with that!

So overall I think im happy. I'll try more games today in-between expedition 33. I've got a full day of gaming today so I'm happy.
GT7 has a PSSR mode that allows in game RT. The general consensus is that it's only really beneficial if you play in the cockpit view, as I do. The Pro update also has the benefit of 60fps replays. VR is also improved. But yeah, I guess we'll be waiting for GT8 on PS6 for any majorly noticeable improvements.

It looks bad using RT with PSSR in GT7. It really does. The image quality takes a big hit and it adds aliasing and shimmer.

It's very odd that of all games GT7's pssr implementation would be like this since they're a developer who has always striven for great iq. Just compared other games that use pssr from 1080p it doesn't hold up
...for example recent space Marine 2 and ac shadows in performance mode look much, much better

Original ps5 is fine, perfectly designed. PS5 Pro enabled manufacturers to sell overpriced consoles now and it's disappointing.

I still can't get over how good jedi survivor looks I'm not sure if arc raiders is pro enhanced but it looks incredible as well too bad there's no hdr

I missed this poll, but as a PS5 Pro owner I am quite satisfied. The ability to have nicer resolution and graphical effects with 60fps in many titles is a godsend. The system is quiet, even when it loads data from the disc drive I installed.

The day I traded my launch PS5 in I felt a little guilty, but the improvements I've had in the games I'm playing quickly dispelled that.

I did purchase a set of aftermarket feet since I keep the system configured horizontally. IMO they are far superior to the ones included with the console. They are not only larger, but the material they are composed of means the system does not move even a little without considerable force, so I know that it is always stable and secure.

The biggest problem with Pro is the lack of effort from developers. We see this time and time again where the games are so minimally improved yet gamers celebrate the particular game i think had a dud of a Pro update. For example, Indiana Jones and Forza Horizon 5 ...only real change is resolution in both these games.

No actual graphical settings improved except for foliage in fh5, which is bumped to the same density as Quality mode. Why didn't they bring over TAA from the PC version that everyone knew made a big difference in iq compared to the consoles 4xmsaa? Also, no steep cone mapping in Performance mode on Pro which makes gives textures depth and detail? Game came out 4 years ago and now we have the Pro literally only improving foliage ...but DF said it's "basically Quality mode on Pro" so people are happy even though it's not nearly Quality mode and looks way worse compared to the PC.

It's just crazy how easy to please some people are. I'm not saying there haven't been some great upgrades but most as as small an upgrade as Forza and yet people acting like they actually did something significant. AC Shadows was a real Pro patch. KC:D2 was great. Most are just tiny resolution/iq boosts and hardly worthy of such an expensive console. This is all on Sony though for not setting standards and requirements to get the Pro tag, working with developers, and having their tools in place prior to launch and the devs themselves for just doing a quick and dirty patch.

It's an improvement certainly, but the PS5 Pro feels more like it's in the same ballpark as the original PS5 than the PS4 Pro did with the PS4. That's probably due to PCIe storage. Visuals aside, it's closer than last gen was.

I do have a weird audio issue with the DAC I'm using, ground loop noise over the non-SS10 USB C port. My audio setup is weird, so I think it's more me than it, but I didn't have this issue before with the original PS5.

I will say this: PS5 Pro really makes the Series X look aged. No SS10 USB ports, no UAC2, no non-proprietary storage upgrades, no Bluetooth, no wifi 6e. This stuff is table stakes now.

Picked up a Pro at the weekend in preparation for Death Stranding 2. Only tried a few games so far - Callisto Protocol (40fps mode looks fantastic), Spider Man Remastered (PSSR mode seems to be quality at 60+ fps? Nice) and Dragons Dogma 2 (Looks and runs better, around or above 60. There's some weird artefacts around character when panning camera quick near water but Balanced PSSR has been fine otherwise). Warframe surprisingly has PSSR too so you can max out all the graphics settings with it on quality. Looking forward to trying out some others when I get the chance.

The one thing haven't seen people talk much of is the PS4 upscaling option. Only works for 1080p PS4 games I think, but it can be pretty noticeable. Something like The Order 1886 its subtle (no surprise given the heavy post processing), but it was transformative on Dynasty Warriors 8XLCE ( I have newer DW games but this one lets me share the save with Vita) with a much sharper image compared to base PS5. Anyone have other recommendations for games that show a noticeable improvement?

Playing KCD2 on my Pro at 60fps with that IQ is awesome. KCD2 is one of the best example of what the Pro is suppose to do to play at 60fps with better IQ. I have in the backlog Rebirth, Stellar Blade and Jedi Survivor.

Deleted a wrong statement.
Try and see for yourself it's the best suggestion. It's more like a sharpening option than a "real upscaler" and from my experience it improve the sharpness of the most if not all but aliasing still stay. Keep in mind in some games perfomance getting worse (not all). AC Unity for example the fps drops are quite noticable.

60fps modes that don't look like shit. That's exactly what I wanted, expected and so far have gotten.

Improved RT maybe RT shadows for GTA VI would be great but I'm not expecting it. Better IQ and a more stable 30fps is fine for that game for me.

I've hardly touched mine since I upgraded to the pro, in fact I haven't actually played a full game on it. I'll no doubt play demon's souls again in the future though so I'll at least get a few hours on it before gta 6 comes out.

It will basically be untouched till gta 6 comes out.

Very satisfied. I'd give the console a 9/10.

Having to pay extra just for a disc drive and stand is garbage. This should never be acceptable. However, the console itself does exactly what PlayStation advertised it as; a 4K device that will run your games at the highest fidelity possible. It delivers on that front.

I'm on the mostly satisfied side. So I recently got the PS5 Pro as my jumping in point for this generation. Been rocking a PS4 Slim since 2019 and after some thoughts I decide to buy a PS5 and went with the Pro model. So comparing to the base console I can not do but compared to my PS4 Slim. I'm actually impressed with what Sony has created so far. It's super fast and the non existing loading is so damn cool. I love how customizable this console is with all the extra bells and whistles. Everything from the graphics and performance modes are awesome. I don't have to many games that let me switch between frame rates in the games themselves and its super sick that this is just a system wide feature for the console. My entire PS4 library both physical and digital is backwards compatible. Its menu ui is very clean and charming with all its sounds and tones. I love the menu theme of the console that low humming ambient relaxing droning noise really gets me in a calm relaxed state. So I'm naming this the chillest console I have ever owned. The fan is not loud which really impressed me. I love my PS4 slim but that poor little fan was working overtime. The Dual Sense Controller is incredible and I feel in tradition Playstion controller design from the microphone, speaker, the haptic feedback rumble and the Gyro is amazing. It's also super immersive. It took everything the Daul Shock 4 did, but amps up the features and immersion. Silent Hill 2 has been a treat to play and I can't wait to experience more PS5 titles to see how developers use these features. 2 Terabytes of onboard storage is a great bonus and love that I won't have to update the the storage on the console. My only minor complaints I have found with the console so far are you have to buy a disc drive for it. Having to buy that as an add on really sucks considering the console is $699.99. I still feel like they should have included that in the box. Regardless I bought the disc drive and glad I did. Also its a 4k blu ray player so I can now watch some 4k films I have acquired over the years. I also do not like that my Sony branded headphones will not connect over blue tooth. I was so disappointed because you couldn't do it on the PS4 and so I was disappointed to see that the PS5 still has this issue. At least I can plug wired headphones into the bottom of the controller. Dual Shock 4 controllers only work for PS4 games which stinks because I wanted to use them with some PS5 games to see how they play and feel with different controllers. My Switch OLED can use multiple different controllers system wide across a number of games. I wish Sony would have included that option considering they give us so many customizable options on the console that its just a bummer when I found that out. I was really hoping to be able to play PS5 games with my Dual Shock 4 controller from time to time. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the console and glad I got a PS5 Pro. Minus my little gripes I'm glad I bought the PS5 Pro. As Nintendo and Playstation guy I'm glad I went with the mid life console upgrade and can't wait to see what the PS5 Pro has in store for me. Now catch me in 2040 when I buy the Playstation 6 Super Pro System during the middle of its console life cycle.

There was a time when people used paragraphs...

more satisfied then the ps4 pro which promised 4k upscale but it was not true and only 10 percent of games got it. the ps5 pro upgrades all games to 4k psssr

Any pro recommendations? My pro arrives tomorrow.
I already own rebirth, Clair obscure on disc ( I hope my disc drive arrives tomorrow too) and space marine 2 on pc. I have plus extra.

So its occurred to me recently that I am disappointed by the Pro.

Now I bought it mainly for MH Wilds. And its great for that no complaints.

But I've had Silent Hill sitting for a while waiting for the patch on the Pro to fix the graphics. Months later and nothing.

Now the other game I was looking forward to. Doom The Dark Ages has poor performance on Pro and also seems unlikely to be patched.

As my PS5 Pro is in my office (Switch 2 on the main setup) I cant help thinking I should just sell it and go back to PC Gaming. I really cant be bothered with the hassle of PC gaming but im not getting the value out of the Pro that I paid for or was led to expect. I had a PS4 Pro and that really did feel worth it, but this not so much.

Anyone feel similar?

The Pro is still using that Zen 2 CPU so don't expect miracles and seems to have been beta testing PSSR for next generation

I think too many people felt this was going to be a huge upgrade

Personally I am fairly happy with the Pro as its still the best place to play my console games.

Disappointed but more so because I have a 9070xt. I just wish there was a driver level VRR mode that ignores frame cap requests.

I made the not so clever move of buying a PS5 pro and then finally building my front room gaming PC. My PS5 pro is now unplugged from the telly and just collecting dust until Ghost Of Yotei I guess.

I literally turn this new PC on, log in with a wireless keyboard and I'm playing couch gaming. I'm even using my duel sense on Stellar Blade. No hassles at all but Ive used PCs for years so I never really understand the issues people say they have with PC?

PC is fairly easy mode these days

I can only go back to what my son has told me as far as his gaming that at times he can sit in front of a PC screen 12+ hours a day for work even from his home office and the very last thing he wants to do when gaming is play on a PC

Probably a minor group but have seen some here echo that very sentiment

It's the most powerful console available so it will get the best versions of games. Problem is many of them will be only marginally better thanks to devs not giving a fuck.

PS4 pro despite more than 2x GPU power often got disappointing upgrades vs base console. Here we have lower power increase...

I have friends that say the same. To me, it's different feelings so I don't mind.

This is me. I usually don't want to sit in front of my PC at home after sitting in front of one for work. That's why I spend more time on console and remote play from PC via Steam Deck.

It's okay, I'd say 3/5. Definitely not worth the price increase. Games are better, sure. But I would be happy with the standard PS5.

for anyone on the fence, I'd say its not worth it. I bought it so end of gen games would run a bit better, I really didnt NEED one, nor does anyone right now.

I really don't get it how anyone can still tolerate the shitty software upscaler on base console or the shitty IQ in more demanding games but ok.

I have seen people mention this but I play my PC just like I do my console with a long HDMI cable that runs from my PC to my TV. I get that most people probably don't have a setup to make this possible but this is an alternative to not having to play the PC at a desk.

This is actually why I thought about getting rid of the PS5 because I've gotten to the point were I prefer better performance and if they are porting first party games to PC within a year of release I might just starting waiting for the PC release instead of wasting time with the PS5 pro enhancements because it has not been that great. The complete version of PSSR isn't even out until next year, PS5 pro feels like it was rushed out to make a quick buck.

I 100% get the "I've been sat at a desk all day, why would I go home to sit at a desk again to play games"

Completely valid.

For my son its more of just not wanting to deal with the whole PC environment to game on after spending all day working in said environment

And still I found the upgrade a lot more worthy than ps4 pro which was mostly just CBR...but I can understand if for such price is considered not fair for the most of the people.

I play PC games on my PC. I don't want to play console games on my PC and PC living room interface is still very clunky and awkward and far from ideal.

Strategy games are still best on PC though.

I sold my ps5 launch edition a month before pro came out in preparation for the pro. But in that month I started playing on my pc (4070ti) and realised I have a huge backlog on pc so I never got round to getting a ps5 pro.

I haven't had an Xbox for like 8 years and with no ps5 or switch it's the first time in 30 years I haven't had a console. But with 99% of games now coming to pc I think I'm out of the console game.

My pc is connected to my monitor and oled tv, and I picked up a ROG ally z1e last black Friday and having crossplay/cross progression from my pc to rog ally with ALL my pc library dating back 20 years is great. I'm playing RE5 modded at 4k on my oled, and can just carry on in bed on the Ally. pretty awesome.

I mostly play my Xbox Series X, but I do like my PS5 Pro. I mostly play GT7 on it right now, though I do have Black Ops 6 on it, which I switch back and forth between both consoles for that game.

The interface is "Clunky?" Are you jumping in and out of your menu every 30 seconds while playing? Why would that even matter? Just play the game.

Every single time I say this, some nerd pops out from the bushes and says I am wrong.

I had a PC hooked up to my TV for a decade, ok. I don't like it.
