Man, I wish Nintendo would at least implement some sort of post-process anti-aliasing. It's virtually free and would completely clean up those visuals. The jaggies are severe. :\

I think smash 4 looks a bit meh. 3d world, Mario kart 8, Nintendo land and pikmin all have a really nice look to them. smash 4 is lacking in comparison. it doesn't have the nice lighting or shaders, looks closer to the wii smash than a next gen one..
Actually, I feel Marth is one of the worst upgrades we've seen so far. Sure, he seems much cleaner in SSB4, but barely seems to have additional improved details.
It's amazing how Melee to brawl was a bigger graphical jump than brawl to smash 4. Especially when u consider the hardwares
Same here, and I agree- 3DS version looks fantastic.Looks fantastic on 3DS which is the platform that the majority of people (including me!) will be playing on.
Who the hell ever said that Skyward Sword was 720p? If anyone ever did, I'm pretty sure wed laugh them out of the industry, given the Wii literally cannot even output a 720p image.Just reminding that this is as much confirmed to be 1080p as skyward sword is confirmed to be 720p. Pre-release bullshots isn't new thing for nintendo. Also sakurai saying it's 1080p is different than him saying it's native 1080p.

And we certainly didn't have 1080p direct feed shots. Its still possible 4 isn't 1080p, but its far more likely given what we've seen than not.

There was pre release 720p pics of Skyward Sword though. It had as much evidence being 720p as Smash 4 being 1080p has right now. As you yourself point out pre release pics can be (and have been) rendered at higher resolution than whats even possible on the console itself. Do you have any other "evidence" Smash 4 being 1080p than those screenshots that I just proved to be unreliable indicator of the finished product.
The baseline for WiiU games is definitely 720p. What makes you think this is different? There's only one 1080p 60fps game on Wii U that I know of and guess what? It's a 2D game. We are talking about a console which can't run Wind Waker in 1080p at 30fps without dips.
"Good Enough" is what I say. Then again I say that about a lot of series I enjoy.
It has a noticeable upgrade from Brawl which is enough for me.

The main improvement in SSB4 is resolution, poly count and textures. It doesn't look outright BAD (saying that is hyperbole), but I dare you to tell me with a straight face that it's in the same league as 3D World and MK8.
I'm sure this game is 1080p. I'd be shocked if it wasn't. I mean, Wind Waker was 1080p so it's not like 1080p is impossible on Wii U. If Sakurai set out to make a 1080p/60fps Smash, wouldn't you expect it to look exactly how this looks? What would they need to tone down otherwise?

Wind Waker's framerate situation is weird. It's obvious the Wii U should be able to run it at a more stable framerate (it IS a Gamecube game remastered), but the only dips in the Wii U version are ones that were already in the Gamecube version, so Nintendo just didn't fix them for some weird reason.
Are you talking about the dips when you hit things? Those are intentional.
Oh, DKC:TF is not 1080p? That is a shame, seems weird that they couldn't do it with that game. Is there a fillrate issue with the WiiU? I remember Shin'en mentioning something about it when they explained why Nano Assault Neo was 720p.

I am really not liking how much megaman slides - look after the second hit. It's like when playing with luigi.
