Starfield and it's not close. Spider-Man is boring as hell. Not sure why it scored close to 90 on Metacritic when it does absolutely nothing as an open-world. Huge, boring, and empty. The Batman Arkham series royally shits on it in near every metric and these games were released almost 10 years before.
Starfield is a top seller on Steam currently even with Gamepass there's a $30 upgrade to play Starfield early, So they are making bank regardless of copies sold but same here, I want to see if Gamepass has a big enough impact on copies sold.Of course this poll is going to be slanted in favor of Starfield. Its the biggest game to release on an Xbox platform in years because its exclusive, and is also availible on PC. Where as Spiderman is exclusive to PS5 and wont be on PC for 1-3 years. Cant wait to see how many copies both sell...
Another uninspired money grab sony sequel? Or a game that is like no other in terms of scale and immersion.
Even if you are team blue, you have to realize starfield is a huge fucking deal.
I don't really include most Bethesda titles into some deep game. They haven't had a following like that since Skyrim. Maybe Starfield is that game. But it looks just as "forgettable" as any other AAA game these days. I'll play it for the single player, probably be disappointed by many of the superficial systems present in the game, then move on. It will have a lot of "stuff" to do, but I am very skeptical it will be deep or meaningful enough for many people to stick around. Some will. But I never got that sense from any of their previous games honestly
And thing happening with Me, I dont think it is due to us getting older, or maybe combination of this + the fact that Sony is milking very simialr game design across most of their titles and now are releasing more sequels, prequels, remasters etc. Even GoW ragnarok didn't impressed and original GoW on Ps4 was probably one of my most played PlayStation games last gen. Where games like the order, driveclub, Detroit etc. Which all were new `IPs and some actually very interesting eg. Detroit.
I don't know if I'm getting older or what but these big budget playstation exclusives just aren't getting the hooks in me like they used to
I was playing Spider-Man remastered on PC last week (what a bad idea before BG3) and it's so boring. Couldn't believe either how well it was received.
Fallout 76 and Redfall weren't BGS games. Deathloop, which is Arkane, published by Bethesda(not BGS) also won Game of the Year from many outlets. Redfall was trash. Even then, what I wrote wasn't even a commentary on quality, but that BGS games are some of the best selling in the world and that they are extremely popular. All that said, you didn't dispute a single thing I wrote....so...You did not mention fallout 76 when Fallout 4 wasn't as good as Fallout New Vegas. Redfall was trash, and Deathloop was average. Haven't played ghostwire tokyo yet. Didn't care for Doom Eternal. Bethesda as a whole are above average at best.

Then I guess we have the reverse arcThe older I get the more I like them.
I saw an apt description from some video essayist awhile back that I thought was pretty accurateI loved the first Spiderman but the formula began to stretch thin in Miles Morales and I think 2 will have to come out swinging to impress me.
Much more excited for the possibilities in Starfield but it could be a stinker too, who knows?
This video greatly summarizes my thoughts right now on Starfield
Hype level zero for both. They will both be corporate and soulless, unwilling to take risks or innovate. The NPCs and storylines will have anything risky or shocking removed. These big games are neutered to harmlessness. The studios that produce them are dry husks whose only hope of attaining glory are to outspend their competition.
To be honest I don't understand that stance. We finally get a new AAA game in a new IP from the main team at Bethesda with Todd directing. I'm not concerned or sceptical. I'm excited! And I'm rather excited about the possibilities of getting some pure awesomeness, with a risk of being disappointed if they don't deliver, than never feeling any excitement at all.
24 days! (premium)
That's fair, I just meant we don't really know how all those different ideas will actually be implemented.Todd called it Skyrim in space and a modders paradise and there is a fairly long deep dive going through most gameplay mechanics.
The PC version is unknown but I don't feel like I know too little about the game itself anymore, at this point I really just want to play it. 25 days left!
While waiting I started another playthrough of Skyrim and I'm kinda blown away by how great it still is. There is jank, buggy animations, sharp polygon edges, blurry textures, etc but what's behind all that is so good that I just don't care about the so-so things anymore and is yet again lost in that world again.
