ALREADY? Fuck, conversions are gonna be pretty smooth if this is already happening. A damn shame the ArmA I conversion project faltered out for ArmA II, though. Mostly maps and the standalone single player missions came over in tact.

Yea, they said they want to test modding out in the alpha and betas as well so it will be interesting to see what people come up with so early.

Thanks to the possibilities of mods and scenarios, this will be the alpha that never ends for me...Well, until the beta comes and then it's the beta that never ends.

I'm sure they'll be imported if they aren't already. It'll be pretty easy to port everything over.

Ok so I am completely new to this franchise, how does this game compare to,
say, Battlefield 3? I know that maps are much larger, but what about the gameplay? It appears to be much more tactical, I'm assuming in a good way based off reactions in this thread. What are the modes? Sorry for asking, but searching online leads me no where due to so many different expansions and mods.

It's more like the old Ghost Recons or Rainbow 6s with the scope of BF3. One shot, one kill.

A more accurate comparison would be a flight sim game that scales down to letting you control people.

It looks good but I don't see anything that should be causing a GTX Titan to sweat.

Scale is impressive, lighting is nice, textures are pretty poor as are the effects on somethings.


In terms of straight up looks and ignoring the crazy scale, BF3 looks better.



Hopefully they get some more optimisation done before full release.

I couldn't play the game without it!

You are about 200% more effective in planes and helicopters, on the ground you can take your hands off the ALT key and worry about other stuff on the keyboard. Plus the immersion factor is immense.

One key thing is; stick with it. The first week or so of my using it, I didn't like it. Felt a bit cumbersome, bit of tweaking to get it right, the constant head movement wasn't comfortable all the time etc.

However a week or two later, you just end up loving it and at some point you start looking around in other games and thinking "Why the hell doesn't it support TrackIR!"
