Damn I've been relying on the sword too much, I'm at this boss that's just too quick and moves at the last second no matter what...

Check your booster’s melee thrust stat
I'm curreny using ALULA/21E, which actually has the second highest melee boost. The highest is the AB-J-137 KIKAKU which is ass elsewise.
Believe in the Sword I have a litte one and a Big one in my build
The sword truly is king, but this bish is fast!

Chapter 4 final mission, hopefully won't take as long as balteus...

I used the lance sword + pile driver combo..
risky and needs to be timed good, but with one "combo" you can reduce the hp by around 60%.

Of course luck is needed too.

NG++ done! . A ton of fun developments throughout for a worthwhile conclusion. Felt like a continuation of the Liberator end and seeing through Coral and humanity's coexistence. I wonder if there will be a DLC given some story details, but it's also like From to just leave it be.

I still have S Ranks to complete and a bit more logs, but definitely one of my favourite games of the year. Hate to see it wrap up.

Mission 37: "Intercept the Corporate Forces" and mission 38: "Eliminate “Cinder Carla" reminds of Slave Zero a lot. I guess it's the city like appearance of the level. Can't stop thinking about it. :messenger_grinning:

Question 🙌

2nd Tutorial they talk about 'suprise attacks'

How is this accomplished exactly?

Do you get visual feedback?

Suprise attacks only works, if the enemy has not spotted you. (ambush)
You see on their health bar the info "unaware"
If you hit the enemy with a bullet etc. it will deal more stress / damage

Im in chapter 5 on a decision mission about facing V. Something locksmith or eliminate a certain character.

I think im near the end now, great game 13.5 hrs in. I dont think I'll go down the NG plus runs path so will probably drop it after. Got too many games to play!

NG+ and NG++ have all new missions though…

I've just managed to buy the collector's edition brand new for £126.66 steam edition.

I was waiting to try this game, maybe in a demo or something but the more I see of it the more I believe I'll enjoy it.

I love fromsoftware games so they deserve my money.

If I could have bought the premium edition I would have as the garage looks amazing and will fit in one of my ikea detolf display cabinets perfectly but the mech and stand will do.

Finished NG++. My GOTY so far.
I just wish it was possible to tune or upgrade the different parts and weapons to add a bit more complexity and customization.

My favorite setup was dual Haldeman. Super nimble and fun to play. Cleared the Arena with it without dying. Great for most missions too.

Just rolled credits on my first playthrough, got the liberator of rubicon ending.

Felt pretty bad about betraying Carla and Walter after they rescued me but it is what it is

NG++ done, all combat logs complete, all arena foes destroyed, I've seen everything there is to see in this mech tour-de-force. I've said it before but I'll say it again, this is my GOTY and I don't see anything touching it for the remainder of the year. AC6 is an astonishing, high octane, retina searing instant classic from FROM but I would have expected nothing less, these guys are masters of their craft.

I've got a couple of parts related trophies left and all S ranks (oh boy, that's going to be a tall mountain to climb lol). I mentioned in an early post just how nebulous S rank requirements are but I'd like to give a specific example. Last night I did the Alt version of the Attack the Dam mission where you have to "accept" a certain choice. Here is my experience in achieving the S rank:

First attempt I finished with an A rank. Finished it very quickly, used ALL repair kits, health was in the deep red. Final deductions were about 50K for repair and 50K for ammo cost. Well, I thought I can't do it much faster so it must be ammo related. Switched out my guns to ones with lower ammo cost, finished under the exact same circumstances, health in deep red, all repair kits used but - sure enough - the final ammo cost was 35K and that got me the S rank.

Maybe the ammo cost threshold for this mission is 40K? Who knows, but something to keep in mind if certain missions are giving you A rank, clearly health/repair cost had ZERO effect on the above mission though undoubtedly it will for other missions, trial and error AC pilots.

Edit: forgot to mention how satisfying it was to go back to the tutorial mission and S rank it on my first attempt, it's a crystal clear window into your progress through dozens of hours invested and understanding all the little nuances of movement, weapons and tools available to you.

I feel like those early chapter 1 missions have way tighter requirements than later ones, mainly as you're expected to beat them with early "cheap" loadouts ammo and damage cost can often drag it to an A even if you're going fast. Not sure if there really are hard cutoff points as I found I could sometimes mitigate that by going really super fast and not getting hit, still using expensive gear.

For example, I struggled with Investigate BAWS Arsenal No. 2 for over 2 hours. There are some youtube guides that tell you it's all about ammo cost and no damage, best use "free" melee and don't get hit (good luck with that in the last room). Turns out the easiest way to go is load up dual needle on the back, that one shots every enemy in the level except the final armored one, learn exactly where the cloaked ones are hiding in the first open area and just hit them as fast as possible. Going with this strat it was an S first try for me.

There are plenty of other missions however where you have to be so fast a heavy loadout just doesn't work. Like I said earlier, don't sleep on the flamethrowers whenever you need fast large crowd control. Good luck!

I mentioned in an early post just how nebulous S rank requirements are...

Its both part of the greatest satisfaction the game has to offer and source of frustration given the vague score evaluation.

Leaving shoulder weapons behind for maximum speed, optimised for devastating close range damage, point blank shots without wasting a single bullet and dodging every single oncoming projectile. Its building your mech around the S rank attempt and having situations like this that have proven to be the biggest fun so far once you obliterate your enemies. Like the true final boss or the real git gud moment.

But it would go a long way to have just slightly better insight in the calculation and evaluation of you final score. Not a deal breaker but gets really annoying when you spend hours on a mission and just missing a tiny bit of knowledge.

I'm also not a fan of using a guide for obvious reasons but i feel forced here to use one occasionally. And a guide often isn't the solution but merely a response to a comment for the guide, that will provide the missing piece.

Still GOTY.

Funny how it's often the missions you wouldn't expect to be hard that are the challenging ones.

Going with this strat it was an S first try for me.

I did this with the pulse blade and the starting bazooka by only using a single shot for each enemy and finishing it of with the blade. However in the beginning i used a different bazooka with slightly higher ammo cost. Nearly all the attempts had the same shot count or where equal in the time used but changing to a gun with a bit cheaper ammo instantly gave me the S rank. Sometimes the calculations are brutally tight.

I’ve long thought that I won’t bother with S ranking, but you’re selling me on the idea.

Arent the S-Ranks income / profit related?
Afaik it depends always on how much money you make/lose + no continues, at least it was always like that im the older titles.

If you look at the results screen at the end of the mission than it might appear like that but in reality it's heavily tied to the time you need to clear the mission.

In addition there are special conditions for escort missions for example.

Each missions also weighs the correlation between time / ammo spend / damage taken slightly different.

I just finished my first playthrough of AC6, it is a great action game with some of my favorite if not my favorite combat in all the action games Ive played and I intend to NG Plus and NG Plus Plus it. With that said I think its my least favorite of the modern From Software games that Ive played simply because of the aethstetic, lack of great exploration, hard linearity, and its story being less interesting. I will say this game does have the consistently "hypest" combat of their games Ive played though, I loved making my own Melee Build AC with my paint setup (playing with the stats was very fun), I really enjoyed the Arena battles as well. Baltius was my favorite boss (given I havent played against whats waiting for me the 2nd and 3rd playthroughs). Anywho its a great game and probably the second best game Ive played that came out this year only behind TOTK for me, it is easily one of the best action games Ive ever played, Id give it a Great or 9.5.

Also random note for some reason on my PC version I have a really annoying lag randomly on the first spoken word of some sentences during cutscenes, it would slightly delay the first word slightly for some reason and I have no clue why, I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still did this, I really dont have a clue what's causing it or how to fix it, if someone has a clue as to how to fix it Id appreciate the tip.

Wasn't to bad overall. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

A lot of fun to go for the Platinum in fact. S ranks teach you so much and push you to previously unknown heights. Still so many weapons i haven't touched and the urge is great to dabble more with painting and assembly. Will do much needed vacation and then jump right back in.
