I assume you mean Tig Notaro. They spent millions to green screen her as a replacement. I think she is a terrible actress. I don't know why they keep putting her in things.
Wasting millions on a recast which resulted in the worst character in the movie - lol. Now I see why I hated her in the film, she was playing someone else's role.

I wanted to like this movie, but it was just kinda meh for me. Definitely not a Dawn of the Dead, which was brilliant. This was rather lackluster. I don't mind the length. I took issue with pretty much everything else. The casting was all wrong. Tig Nataro, as already mentioned, stunk in her role. The safe cracker was too campy. The daughter wasn't very convincing with her feelings for her dad. Dave was rather flat as well, not really showing the kind of deep introspection I would've expected during certain emotional scenes.
The story was kinda weak, as far as the motivations for some.
His daughter being hellbent on risking her life to save that of a friend who ignored her many warnings to go into zombieland, then seemingly not giving a shit at the end about her after the heli crash. Seriously? You got multiple people killed with your antics. At least make it feel like you were invested in being a dumbass. The stooge who tagged along causing the cliche unnecessary mayhem in a room full of sleeping zombies pissed me off. It's dangerous enough, why would you even do that? To score worthless troll points? He then doubled-down on it by locking everyone in the safe room, eventhough them getting the money would have had no negative impact on his mission. The cop (Shades from Luke Cage) giving up his gun for no reason, when everyone could see he was going to get double-crossed from a mile away. The coyote not walking backwards towards the heli, while holding the gun to the head of the Zombie Queen. Guzman not doing more to save his gf, before the zombies engulfed her.
I also think they missed a trick with the rain at the end. I thought that was going to be how they allowed the franchise to continue. I guess the way it ended was also a decent option. However, what was the point of giving us the info about the shamblers and rain early on? That deserved a payoff.
The premise of the story is great. There was some great material to work with here. Limiting everything to Vegas allowed for great set pieces, and the zombie societal structure provided potential for a unique take on the genre. I was really looking forward to seeing how all of that played out. However, what we got was a lot of cool ideas that simply didn't pay off in the end.
I'll give it another watch in the near-future, to see if it hits better on the second viewing, but for now, this is one of Zack's worst films. Probably the first one of his that I didn't genuinely enjoy on any level. I'd place it last after Sucker Punch, which I actually enjoyed due to just how cool it looked and sounded. This was lacking that Snyder visual flair.
Wasn't as good as Dawn of the Dead which is probably me favourite zombie movie, but it was a decent movie still I thought.
I was expecting more fun and less seriousness based on the trailer and movie intro.
I enjoyed the concept of it being a heist movie rather than just the whole world is in a zombie apocalypse.
Watched it today on netflix (dolby vision etc).
It was fun to watch but it is so stupid. The suspension of disbelief was broken every few minutes. And they totally forget about that person at the end haha WHAT
Oh and what's with a few white pixels lol? Was one of their cameras broken?
Heh. In the days of celluloid, filmmakers tried to increase depth of field (see Citizen Kane). When digital video came with their small sensors, videographers tried to decrease depth of field because they missed it.
but I agree with everyone else who hated the daughter. She was selfish as all get out and didn't think of the consequences of her actions... especially given that "that thing" was coming which she knew about ... she should have taken the hint that her dad was in danger when she "went over there"... such an idiot. Her and the "head of security" dude... I'm glad he got got.
Snyder's previous Zombie flick gave be some hope for this, but my god, what a godawful movie.
The narrow depth of field made it absolutely unwatchable
Cardboard-cutouts would have been more interesting than these characters
The team was utterly incompetent
Subpar gore and sparse uninspired action
The story went nowhere and ended in the most foreseeable way possible
In the first 90 minutes absolutely nothing happens
The zombies were more likeable and had more character than the protagonists
Cringe humor and braindead dialogues
Why the hell would you remake songs by The Doors and frikkin' Creedance?
We were looking forward to a "so bad it's good" kind of movie, but it took itself way too seriously and was just plain bad.
It's basically suicide-squad but with zombies. The marketing material was more interesting than the movie.
I remember liking “Sucker Punch” in the theater. It was almost like a segment from “Heavy Metal.” The director’s cut is terrible though - for example they incorporate the musical number into the movie, rather than use it for the credit sequence. It was great in the credit sequence because it solidified the surreal/theatrical aspect of the movie. Incorporated into the movie, it was cringe.
Producers like to say they need to reign in the director. I find that to be often true, unfortunately.
Is it like that through out the movie? I can't stand it, it feels like the movie is out of focus or my eyes is not focusing quick enough. ugh this sucks, dunno if I can keep watching.
it was alright. waiting for black summer season 2 - which i completely forgot
anyways: 1. the population in vegas can't be that high, ergo zombie amount. 2. there were 3 people in the chopper in the end, but it felt like only 2 people.
Yeah that was a cool abiet very cgi looking segment, liked it a lot. Almost as good as the zombie fetus scene /s As if your whole purpose to consume flesh isn't motivation enough. Nah bro, give the dude a revenge reason. Lol can't wait for the Half in the bag episode.
watched it this morning. never seen anything of it before except the zombie cat. i don't have anything against zack snyder but when the entire fucking internet gushes over something/someone so much it usually puts me off stuff. after all the justice league bullshit i was sick of seeing his name. so anyway i decided i'd watch it to see what the deal is and i actually quite enjoyed it! it's not the typical zombie movie either and at least tries to bring something new. i hope there is gonna be a sequel. the ending definitely sets it up but who knows if we'll get it.

The ending is actually very cliche for a zombie flick. And also very dumb with how
in the previous scene Vanderohe wasn't scared to go outside and receive massive radiation from the nuke. They could've at least made an effort in having some secret tunnel leading from the vault to the desert outside the city

Yep. I'm hoping for a HitB on the level of Money Plane - just tear the movie apart because it's absolutely riddled with plotholes and poor characterization.

I watched this movie stoned with my friend and both of us thought the movie pretty much was bad.
The only thing I really liked were the gory practical effects. Some action scenes and the opening credits were pretty good.
I just couldn't take the overly powerful feminist and multicultural cast in which all the white males were bad guys exept for the comic relief German gay boy. Even the daughter had to be a strong independent woman how didn't take a no for an aswer.
I actually I'm intrigued, What are those robot zombies?
"As the convoy starts their journey at the beginning of the film, there are two bright lights that hover in the sky, then move away quickly. The movie's producer has suggested the zombie leader might be part alien or genetically engineered. The zombies that kill Guzman in the lobby include some robot zombies. The producers plan to elaborate on these ideas in the sequels. "
" I really wanted this sort of weird ambiguity to their origins - which, of course, we'll explore in the animated series. And without giving away too much... if you pay close attention, there's a number of zombies that are clearly not zombies," Zack Snyder continued. "You see normal zombies and then you see some robot zombies. Are they monitors that the government has placed among the zombies to monitor them? Are they technology from the other world? What's happening there?"

First 5mns in, absolute dogshit. I hate it when people behave unrealistically in horror movies, and its an absolute galore of that here within first 5mns.
Hoping for massive improvements. Will update the post as I keep watching it.
It is an accomplishment how Snyder went from the Dawn of the Dead remake, to this irredeemable shit pile.
Bad dialogue, bad interactions, no humour, close to zero fun moments.
Bad camerawork, bad direction, bad zombie make up, and a whole load of terrible acting.
Also, awful segments that went on for too long, featuring a combo of the above (almost every scene with Rossi in it, lol).
I mean, the basic premise sounded like it should be fun. What a let down.

Okay. I thought I was seeing things. A couple zombies got killed, and had what looked like blue lights in their heads. This wasn't explained at all in the movie, so I thought I was seeing some kind of compression artifact.
