I feel sad now. I actually defended Kyle Orland the other day by saying, that he wasn't the first guy to be wrong on the internet.
And then he goes and writes this. What the fuck.
First to a billion wins![]()
Just imagine the rage when there is another ddos attack and the psn goes down...
2038:

By 2040, just Xbox Ones outnumber humans (PS4s take until 2045 to reach this landmark). By 2050 there are over ten consoles for each human (and 80% of them are Xbox Ones).
That's what we in Germany would call a Milchmädchenrechnung
A child could've made those graphs. Gaming journalism...
If his conclusion that Xbox One sold more than the same quarter last year is correct, MS would probably have said something about it, right?
Then he goes on to use that conclusion to make graphs...
This is what makes the article even more hilarious.
You would think that if Xbox One is really up YoY in the last quarter like Kyle Orland so generously estimates it to be, then the masters of spin at Microsoft would not have suddenly decided to completely stop giving hardware numbers.
One interesting tidbit. Xbone and WiiU sales combined can't even match the PS4. Pretty incredible.
That graph is a bit skewed tho. Ps4 lead should be much more apparent.
LOL this is great!Since the other usual extrapolation images have already been posted:

He accounted for the Alien Tourists our planet will have by then.In 2084, will there be enough PS4s and Xbones for all 7 billion+ people in the world?
This is a given considering XB1 was beta tested in the future...
Yet more interesting points... and still some people state that the main point the article was trying not to make was to show Xbox One could not close the gap with PS4... Heh.
I wanted to make a graph but then I got high
(ooooooohh)
I didn't mean to make people laugh but then I got high
(la da da)
Now my numbers are all fucked up and I know why
(Why man)
Because I got high

But it............is the point of the article.
This is why I'm actually glad that, in a sense, Nintendo has been relegated to "doing their own thing" rather than directly competing with the others. They'll carve out their own place in the market rather than fighting to be nothing more than a worse (and less successful) version of the other similar console.
All Sony had to do was make A LOT of good decisions with PS4 from the outset, which they did, and they were guaranteed to beat Microsoft and the XB1.
There's little room for mistakes anymore and MS fucked up.
With such a brilliant analytical method, why would the writer of that article stop so soon?
We can extrapolate further into the future, confident that the growth rate will remain stable for decades to come:

Nintendo screwed the pooch so badly they were forced even further into their own bubble, which may be a good thing (for them) in the long run.Well, Nintendo made a lot of mistakes and fucked up pretty badly with the Wii U.
Without the "help" of Sony or MS.
Numbers show that consoles will cause a Mad Max-like collapse of society.I'm waiting to see a similar chart based on the post-season sales drop. It would probably make 2024 seem pretty dismal.
It does a very, very poor job of that.Wow, the intent of the article flew right over the head of a lot of posters, the point is that Xbone needs a miracle to outsell PS4.
It does a very, very poor job of that.
Not really.
Nah bro, this is the most succint way to make this point. This is a beacon of hope for games journalism and must be defended. There are a million other ways to convey that point that doesn't include these fucking ridiculous graphs.
Yea it doesn't.
It's literally saying that the Xbone needs 10 years of exponential rate of growth to hit PS4 sales on the same trend.
Thus revealing how large an absolute lead there is.
And yet GAF can't understand that.
