February 25, 2005 - Japanese developer Artoon has posted a message at its website seeking staff for an upcoming RPG project. The company is seeking planners, designers and programmers for work on an RPG targetting next generation platforms. The game will have 3D visuals, but aside from that nothing has been revealed.

Artoon is best known by Xbox owners for its work on the Blinx series of platformers. The team also developed Yoshi's Unversal Gravitation for the Game Boy Advance and, most recently, Swords of Destiny for the PS2. With all this multiplatform support, it's a bit difficult to determine which next generation system Artoon intends to support with this RPG project.

We'll have more as we learn it.

I can't get excited about these 'announcements' because they are actually just news stories based on new hiring calls.

When Artoon actually ANNOUNCES the RPG, we'll get to see the title, graphics and platform.

Till then, meh. Same goes for Camelot and Mistwalker.

Does that mean the characters will crawl out of our consoles and try to kill us?

It doesn't NOT mean that. KEEP 3d0 AWAY FROM ARTOON!

I thought it's been common knowledge they were doing an RPG for Xbox 2 for a long while now. IIRC, news of that came right after Blinx 1 back in 2002.

By all accounts:

Artoon is best known by Xbox owners for its work on the Blinx series [TRIP] of platformers. The team also developed Yoshi's Unversal Gravitation [TUMBLE]for the Game Boy Advance and, most recently, Swords of Destiny [FALL] for the PS2. With all this multiplatform support, it's a bit difficult to determine which next generation system Artoon intends to support with this RPG project.

Batting 0 for 3 so far, so I doubt anyone is going to be excited about the possibility of a new game by them :P
