This is the first confirmation we have regarding the "PC's"
![]()
Did we know the "PC" was going to be a custom AMD chip? Or was that not just for the console?
The PC bit was spoken before the lead-in to announcing the AMD partnership. I thought it was always gonna be the case since that video, since the Ally are also AMD devices.
The Ally doesn't use a custom chip though.
Which makes me question - is there a different Xbox handheld that we don't know about yet?
No chance when there is no SoC in development that we know of, unlike Magnus (Xbox Next), Orion (PS6) and Canis (PS6P).They did say that the dedicated Xbox handheld has been shelved 'for now', not that they've canceled the project entirely.
Maybe 2027, 2028 ?

She says developing console, handheld PC etc before going into the part about signing partnership with AMD.
I thought this was already known.
Did Microsoft themselves confirm that or was it just rumours from one of the usual lackeys?
This seems pretty clear cut, in that there will be custom chips for all 3 and that they are in development
It appeared in Phil's dreams thoughAFAIK it was both started and ended in Windows Central news pieces, MS officially never announced working on a handheld.

I've just seen that it "ended" via an "announcement" from Jez, but Phil himself was the one who seemed to confirm it's existence beforehand:

Wasn't Lockhart a known entity by late 2018 already? KeplerL2 seems to be sure on no handheld SoC being developed atm:If I remember correctly the Series S SoC was kept under wraps until pretty late in the day.
There's no handheld SoC in development for Microsoft.
Does this mean Xbox is back?
