asian people of neogaf, do you wear deodorant?

I do sometimes, but it isn't exactly necessary. I wonder if the same gene that makes my armpits stay fresh also make my balls smell worse because I'm fairly certain I have really smelly balls.

I'm gonna need to do some hands on testing to confirm this.

Might be oil. Asians traded their sweat glands for oil factories on their scalp and face.

Now that I think about it my earwax is sticky. Always get a little bit of buildup in my earbuds no matter how much I clean my ears. Or maybe I just suck at it :(

yes every day. The no smell thing is a myth. I think people who think they don't smell either aren't cognizant of the fact or don't sweat enough. Armpit odor is the result of bacteria and everyone has bacteria on them.

Sweat itself maybe different depending on diet, genetics etc

So wait is this report fake science I assumed it was legitimate and it would explain why Japan has really weak deodorants . Of course I don't believe it saying their is no smell but the main form of BO comes from a certain chemical that quite a few east asians lack though body smell can come from other sources .

Didn't use any deodorant.
I use antiperspirant after I came to Australia, mainly because it's too hot here and I sweat a lot which makes me uncomfortable. I'm sure I'm not smelly without it though.

Also I'm sure some East Asians can be smelly...Was on a bus one day, and nearly fainted.

Holy crap I never knew wet ear wax was a thing. Does it leak out?

I wear deodorant and a spritz of cologne but I don't have to. I've gone days without showering with no smell. Actually, most of the people I hang out with don't really have any sort of body odor except for one overweight white guy.

The things you mention certainly influence overall odor.

But sweat isn't what makes armpit odor. It's bacteria. That's why "crystal deodorant" is so effective. It makes the skin hypertonic and the bacteria can't survive.

Scientifically, I think the article is way overstating things. There are bacteria and they are feeding on something.

Asian here, I use deodorant usually but the times I don't (or forget to) I tend to notice that I don't really have body odor. Oh and I have dry earwax too, sucks for y'all slime earwax heathens.

One of the weirdest but most satisfying experiences is to have a dry ball of wax fall out of your ear. I know it sounds like some horrifying ren and stimpy gag, but it's real and it feels magnificent. Hell yeah my DNA.

Edit: happens once every couple of blue moons. Suuuuuuper rare.

Yo OP, put some on you stinkball.

I'm Asian and I wear mine most of the time. The only times I don't it's when its too cold to even sweat.

PS. Wet ear wax here. Weirdly enough my mom and younger brother is dry.

And no wet ear wax doesn't leak out. Its kinda like a slightly runny blob. Like playdough.

Uh... Of course I use deodorant. I smell bad when I haven't showered in a while and when I sweat like a pig.

I know tons of Asians who smell too.

Also OP you smell.

I don't sweat very much unless I'm outside for a prolonged period of time (I am in Houston after all). Try to use deodorant though but I used to be bad about it in my younger days.

This thread is kinda making a few things clear to me lol, didn't know wet/dry earwax was a thing.

I don't use deodorant either OP but I'm white. Now I'm not saying I don't sweat or have body odor just that I have so little of it that I've never felt the need to use deodorant. I literally barely sweat, even in the gym working out for 1-2 hours I'll end up with a bead running down my shin and a small amount of wetness on my shirt/shorts. Compare this to a guy I work with that starts sweating profusely after 10 minutes of continuous heavy labor.

As for my earwax, seems to be a mix between the two types from what I can tell visually, the weird thing being the lack of odor even though I can clearly recall my earwax having that slightly sweet yucky smell before. Maybe it's just not as strong as I recall? No idea.

Interesting stuff, I was just discussing the body odor thing with someone today due to that other thread about gross things people you know do.

Edit: and yes, in before any of the "well you're stinky to everyone else" etc etc bullshit.

Godlike.

The article is saying or the one I read previous a long time ago not sure if it's the same one as the article I viewed which was many months ago as I haven't read this article yet as I just assume its the same study as the one I read though the article may be different. The body sweat contains chemicals which the bacteria feed off of now the bacteria themselves doesn't stink but their waste can and one of the major contributes to body Oder smells in the chemical that the body produces that is also tied to earwax type. That doesn't mean the bacteria waste doesn't smell but one of the major contributor to the smell is missing in a lot of East Asians.

Eh you're probably East Asian and either didn't notice or forgot about it.

My Japanese hubby never wears deodorant and always smells fresh as a daisy. I'm Filipino with a high percentage of Chinese genes but still I need deodorant :( I'm envious of him.

Also OP you smell.

I shower every single day and soap up bruh. Entire body. And wash my hair every single time too. Never miss a day.

Being someone who works mostly around East Asians all the time, they always wonder why, despite deodorant, I smell after an 11 hour shift. I've learnt to basically explain this to them throughout I've pretty much never been around an East Asian with BO.

No one read the OP

For certain, this thread proves that.

I don't know if it is connected but many East Asian women smell sweet around the area of the neck/ears/shoulders, even when they don't wear deodorant or perfume or use any scented products(it's a different sort of smell anyway)
