Page 4 of this thread is really arguing over how many points different the score is from Valhalla 🤣

Too often this forum is obsessed w reviews and commenting on games based on them instead of just playing it for yourself.

Anyways, i'll give it a try. Not sure when, but as expected, its getting "good" reviews. These games are always just good, and thats fine.

If anything it's your post that reads like executive coping, lol. Mirage was hailed to be and marketed as the great return to the core of Assassin's Creed. Without all the bloat, without all that open-world nonsense, good ol' fashioned AC. Instead it's the second-worst reviewed mainline AC game of all time, only barely beating Syndicate.

In what universe (outside of your own mind) is this not disappointing?

Its stand-alone DLC for Valhalla....Assassins Creed Red is the major next entry thats gonna be marketed to death.

This was known, I dunno why you are acting like this isnt common knowledge.

You just....went and took time to take a screencap of Metacritic while the discussion was about Opencritic. Incredible.

And what's funnier is that the two point difference argument is still wrong. Mirage is at 77 lol. 3 points!
No, he was talking about the metacritic score from the start and you and the other guy brought in opencritic. His point still stands though. The difference in scores is negligible. No one cares which site you personally prefer lol.

Actually you should care about which aggregate is better. I can play the screencap game too. Look at the highest review for Mirage on Metacritic and tell me, that this is totally a great review.

Metacritic has now long allowed utter randos on, with stupid ass crap like this which yes, does make it a worse aggregate.

Opencritic would never allow this review....right?

And no, I'm not saying metacritic is better than opencritic, or vice versa.

has OpenCritic ever disclosed how they decide who the Top Critic’s are because sheesh, they have a lot of questionable sites somehow get that distinction

As always, great review by Karak Karak

Definitely a nice review. Sounds like a fine game to me. But also one I won't be playing anytime soon. I dropped Valhalla and have yet to start with Origins and Oddysey.

Yup. Now that one I know will be right up my alley. I truly hope that the two protags play completely differently from each other though. Make the samurai more straight on assault style, while the kunoichi can be the stealthy type. Something like that.

It's a setting I've wanted for years for this franchise, finally. The only thing that has my hype a little down is that apparently it will be a online game? So will we see other players? I guess that could work out well if they won't always be able to kill us, that's gonna get old quick. And I want the gameplay loop to feel like a SP experience.

I'm guessing it must be based on the number of reviews submitted by the site, rather than the author. But no, I'm not certain.

Meh. Will get it on sale...as usual.

Ubi really is having trouble deciding what Assassins Creed actually is.

What are we doing here? We really have a "actually the best reviews are on OpenCritic" debate? Just fucking play games for yourselves

Nonsense. Whats the point of actually playing games when you can just play armchair dev and the numbers game all day. Dont even need a GamePass sub for that.

I honestly don't get how that "Valhalla will bring the assassin's' story back to the franchise" turd of a game was so highly reviewed, worst 15$ I've ever spent, swore to never buy another Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla style AC ever again. And I enjoyed Origins mind you, Bayek/Aya/Hidden Ones' story was wonderful, too bad the combat and side bloat is so fucking shite in the RPG trilogy...

I'm curious about Mirage but the Valhalla style combat does not inspire confidence, I know it's mainly a stealth game but still, if I have to fight an enemy I'd like to enjoy it and between the "Press X to win with beautiful animations" vs "dollar store Dark Souls combat" of later games I'd 100% choose the former any day of the week. The teletransportation thingy also puts me off a bit.

Does this have the present day scenario stuff like most/all(?) of the other AC games have?

Also, each AC game typically has a new puzzle type mini game point of interest on the map. Any info on what those are in this game, if any?

Never heard a single thing about it being an online game. Hell the guy that leaked the game way before it's reveal as Red and who was right on everything, never mentioned online at all. Weird.

Hmmm

"Overall, Assassin's Creed: Mirage is a decent game in the series, but a largely forgettable one. After the dizzying heights of Odyssey and Valhalla, Mirage takes too much of a step back and relies too much on gameplay the series has long moved on from"

Exactly what I thought and said when I first posted in this thread. AC games became better with Odyssey and Valhalla and this kind of regression will net you the MEH reviews you deserve Ubisoft. Thankfully the Odyssey team is on Red and said it'd be a RPG sooooo...

So Ubisoft is new Capcom in porting games. First PC than port the games on Console. Dam even RTX 4070 is running this game 60fps+ native+ DLAA.

Don't be surprise if this game runs better on Xbox Series X than PS5.

TBH I don't really care about the scores. What matters to me most is that while ACII blew my mind back in the day, it's when the series dipped it's toes into RPG territory that I felt like it finally was complete. And yeah stealth was just as important, and even more effective and interesting thanks to bigger worlds and more varied methods of entry, hiding, distracting and killing. All laced with two things I love. Levelling up, and getting GEAR!

So yeah for us who loved Odyssey and Valhalla, Mirage does sound like a major step back. But it's not like all is lost, as Red will be more like the former than the latter.

And yeah I even loved the dark sheep, Assassin's Creed III. I love that game. But honestly using Valhalla as a base, and removing pieces to make it more like a classic style AC sounds good on paper, as like I said Odyssey and Valhalla really nailed that stealth. But many of the reviews really do make it sound like sadly, it didn't work out as well as it should have.

It's running slightly better on PS5 at launch. Both version suffer from screen tearing when the camera moves up and down quickly. Series X has extra tearing during regular gameplay for some reason. A VRR capable display eliminates these issues though.

Hearing mixed things on PC performance.

You misunderstood me, i like ac rpg more than the old ones (completed and kinda enjoyed the first AC they released, returned the second one after 4 hours when i realized the combat was still dogshit, then barely touched unity to see the graphic on pc), i was just laughing at dizzying heights to define valhalla and odissey, if those are dizzying heights of the videogame industry, then we really are in the darkest timeline possible.

I'm pretty sure they were talking about the series and not gaming as a whole lol. Cause I ain't gonna say that Odyssey is better than Tears of the Kingdom or Elden Ring lol.

Seeing the reviews and watching some videos on this confirms what I first thought about it. This looks like fun, is closer to original games, but doesn't live up to Origins or Odyssey. I will add this to my wish-list, but I definitely won't be buying it unless it's on a good sale. Hopefully the next Assassins Creed can hit that balance like Origins, with a big enough world to explore and really tight game play mechanics, but not overly bloated like Valhalla

A friend of mine said this. He said this was mentioned by Ubi during that stream they had (last year I think?) where Mirage was revealed where they showed the whole AC roadmap.

Perhaps he was thinking of another AC? Hey, if he got that wrong, GREAT! :)
