Is this the part where we pretend this DLC-turned-game that had to be cobbled together in 2 years and costs only 50 bucks to signal its nature getting 75+ is bad? I think that's a great score. This isn't the next big AC project..
For a game that was originally a DLC turning into more of a down sized mini game its quite fun and decent if you miss classic AC.

Not suprised with the score.

Not seeing anything special from all the previews, open world bloat is part of the problem.

One of my all-time now favourite reviews.

In line with everyone expactations. High 70 to low 80. Rather than sell it attached to the baggage of Valhalla, they sell it standalone at budget pricing. Good move.
They can still make good budget games. There doesn't seem to be any original idea here.

That's pretty much what it is lol.

Take something beloved from fans > fans cry and whine about the new direction > bring back the thing you take away > claps and $$

Pretty much. I’m watching a review now, and it does look good. I’m just hoping for at least one new mechanic we haven’t seen before.

Well, those scores are quite lower than I predicted lol. Anyway, will still pick it up eventually but as I stated in another thread, October is way too stacked and my day 1's are Spider-Man 2 and Lords of the Fallen.

Not too bad. A bit disappointing to hear there does not seem to be much in the way of innovation, now that they're finally going back to the 'simpler' Assassins Creed style. And especially that the characters and story is not as strong as some of the better entries.

A back-to-basics Assassins Creed experience with a lovable MC and a cool pseudo-mystical conspiracy story in a cool location that only lasts 20 hours sounds awesome on paper. Even more so when imagining how deep the locations could be, if they pooled the giant open maps of Valhalla/Odyssey into a much more dense location. But I guess this is not quite there.

If I had the time though, I'd give this game a shot. Despite their flaws, I've always enjoyed exploring the world of all the Assassins Creed games I played.

Okay, well I'll add that to the year of infinite disappointment and play it when it is sub £10 early next year.

Gonna go for high 70/low 80s. It will be a good return to form, but feel too familiar due to it using the same engine iteration since 2017 (6 years!) and thus also have the same flaws as past games (how the parkour feels, the combat, same looking UI etc).
Looks like a lot of the reviews in the 70s are saying the same thing.

It's a "shame" for the Developers because I've not seen a Ubisoft team this passionate about going back to roots, but you can only do so much on a 6 year old engine that started off as a DLC.

I know I'll have fun with it, £30 for a more focused Assassin story is what I've wanted since 2017 and luckily all future AC projects seem to be where the innovation will lie.

I've played pretty much every AC game from day one but will wait on that one.

Thank you Karak Karak for the review!

My reason for holding out may sound silly but I really don't care for Basim.
He has zero charisma & the personality of a bag of rocks.
Every chance I had in Valhalla I either insulted him or punched him 😆

I'm also still neck deep in Starfield and recently Cyberpunk 2077.

We also have to take the price Into consideration. It's available for 40€ at most retailers here.

I'm good with this, it's still exactly what I wanted.
These reviews seem alright to me - I'll consider picking it up especially with the lower MSRP. I was going to wait for a sale and still might... But I'm really tempted. I am new to the series but really love the old games and like seeing some mechanics return. Doesn't seem like it has the economy system from old games which is a shame but still. Wish all the stuff in the deluxe wasn't digital, I'd definitely bite.

Honestly expected better.

I was debating this or fifa 24 to purchase on Friday and will just get fifa. This doesn’t seem to be a must play even for AC fans unfortunately.

With Spider-Man 2 and Alan wake 2 later this month I can focus on more cyberpunk/sea of stars with fifa until spidey.

Pass.

Ubisoft are going to have to work a lot harder to get me to reengage with their product than just an updated recreation of something I played 15 years ago.

That and not committing to full old school Assassin's Creed gameplay. Instead, from what the reviews are saying, it falls short on both fronts by being a mix of the RPG Valhalla/Origins/Odyssey and earlier titles which makes it a Frankenstein game.

Ubisoft need to give AC a chance to breathe if they want to lessen the RPG elements. Tighten the map so it avoids excessive landscape bloat, tune the story to be more focused on utilising said landscape and cut down on the RPG stat fat that's been bloating new games lately.

Exactly what I expected. It looked like just a boring retread on all the past games. The whole reason they stopped making those games is because they waned in popularity and were becoming stale. Then fans started whining not actually knowing what they want, the experience of playing the games they played in the past, which is impossible to recapture because that was the first time you played it and you were likely younger and in a different state of mind.

78 average so far. Pretty disappointing.

Looks exactly the same like the last 15 installments. Absolutely soulless and uninspiring.

Midcreed.

Assassin's Floprage, let this boring franchise rest in peace Refurbisoft, or die with it and your stubborn copy and paste strategies.

Knew It'd flop

Man, the toxic negativity here is nuts.

I thought we decided that reviewers need to use the “full scale” and 7+ was a good game?

Woof, pretty disappointing. I guess if you're going to go back to your roots, those roots need to actually be good. People got fed up of old Assassin's Creed for a reason, they should have improved the original formula, not simply copied it.

Yikes. Black Flag still the best of the series.
they really should just make a sequel. that world and those characters were great.

as far as Mirage. its about what i thought. anytime you cut scope soooo much its going to just make the game boring much more quickly.

I expected a bit better but overall it's what was promised. An old style AC game for old fans of the series. It's also not a full price release.

Is it safe to say that Assassin’s Creed Red is their next big one? The one in Japan?

Yep. Now if that scores 75 then I'd be worried. Mirage is simply some AC Rogue type shit that was never going to score 80 realistically. It's not meant to be treated like the next big thing, evident by its price tag.
