Did you guys see this? I don't know where it's from (I've seen it on twitter)
Reading this, it clearly shows that game development has become more of a business rather than a passion thing. This also might explain the idea why Assassin’s Creed: Unity was such a mess at launch....
If he really thought 90%+ of PC gamers are pirates, they'd have stopped making full priced titles for PC. That's obviously not sustainable. Nobody would keep making PC ports of games if they weren't moderately profitable. Is this old? Cause I remember when this happened http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-gaming-has-around-a-93-95-per-cent-piracy-rate-claims-ubisoft-ceo/ Any long time pc gamer probably remembers this.
If this isn't old well then he still thinks we're all pirates which isn't surprising considering the love/hate relationship ubi has always had with pc gamers.
No actual CEO would care about the amount of games pirated. Simply because the amount pirated has no effect on revenues
So I got this game yesterday. Retail of all things as well. Grabbed the Bastille edition for equivalent to 30 dollars because a store had clearly mispriced it so I thought why the hell not. 5 (!) DVD install but still better than having to do a lengthy download.
Getting great performance on my rig. Much better than I expected. The game is smooth and looks great. I just got to Paris and I must say I'm very impressed. Had a few isolated instances of npc pop in but nothing severe. This is what I get running the latest patch and latest nvidia drivers:
Indoors 60fps
Regular gameplay 50-60 fps
Heavy crowds 40-50 fps
Cutscenes 30-40 fps
Running at 2048 x 1152 (downsampled to 1080p) , everything maxed apart from AA on FXAA.
i5 3570k @ 4.6 ghz
GTX 660 SC 3GB SLI
16gb RAM
I must say I'm pretty chuffed as I thought that I would need to upgrade my GPUs this year but they are still going strong and spanking everything aside provided I don't push the resolution too far above 1080p. Think I'll stick with what I have until I get a 4k TV towards the end of next year, don't need much more TBH.

What if you don't downsample and just run at 1080p? Wouldn't you get near 60fps? I would prefer that to be honest.
How do I find out if this game is operating properly using my 970 SLI setup? I don't think this game is running right it has bad shuttering.
Was wondering if the G3258 OC'd + R9 290 would be able to run Unity at 1080p/30fps, medium quality? It's for a PC i'm building for a friend.
Whats the best way to lock it a
smooth 30fps?
Through nVidia cp or Rivatuner?
how should I set everything up. The stuttering/framedrops become worse and worse the more I play
Hey is anyone else having high CPU usage with the game?? It's always in the 90/100 on all cores constantly... I mean I'm sure that's whats causing my lower than normal frame rates..
I'm in the 50s mostly with everything on ultra except shadows on High and FXAA.
I have a 970 and 3570k 4.4ghz.
Man...i know what you mean. Difference between 30 and 60Fps is huge. But since i dont have a high end rig currently, might as well set it to 30-35fps and turn everythng up and enjoy this beauty (even though it seems like i still have to set textures to High, ultra high makes fps all over the place it seems)Inspector or NVCP use half-refresh vsync. But to get more stable frametimes set RTSS to 30 as well. I tried it but it was way too hard for me to play , i start to feel sick after short time. Strange how some games like Dark Souls on PC run at 30fps and i have zero problems. But AC:Unity for example is totally unplayable for me.
You can also try and OC your monitor to 70hz and then halve it at 35fps for a little smoother experience.
Same here , same settings except i got 4670k , although i don't seem to get CPU bound 99% of the time , there are few scenes that make my GPU usage dip by few percent. OC didn't help at all , it was bit strange
For the people with stuttering and bad performance, this simple fix solved ALL stuttering in my case too:
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/957078-100-working-fix-for-bad-lag-stutter-mouse-movement!!
So what you do is, when at main menu in game, open your task manager and right click ACU.exe and set Priority to NORMAL!
Techical information:
Since the CPU gets ordered to prioritize calculations for ACU game instead of basic window's functions that is in task manager, it does not have the equal priority for all the processes, instead you could say it puts lower priorty for ex. mouse than the game itself.
So by putting the game to normal, it CAN happen that you may loose...1FPS at highest, but instead get totally smooth mouse movement
After trying all possible combintations of settings, forcing TripleBuffer, limiting framerate, etc. with RadeonPro, DXtory, RTSS, ... this is the only fix that makes the game smooth for me, and I am playing with an Xbone controller, so this is not just a mouse related fix.
Kudos to totte115 for the great finding.
Update:Tried it today (I got it from the nVidia coupon earlier this week but didn't play it until now because of WoW) and I have to say I am very disappointed in the performance so far.
i7 2600k, 4.4 Ghz
GTX 780 SLI, stock
MX 100 512GB SSD
8 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
2560 x 1600 Dell monitor
I am averaging sub 30 FPS with default settings the game booted with :-/ .
This makes no sense... How can you have so much better performance at a higher resolution and better settings...So I got this game yesterday. Retail of all things as well. Same exact thing here, about to give up and wait a few weeks until they fix everythingUpdate:
Same computer specs but I moved the game over to my TV (1080p) and set the settings ranging from Very High/High and with FXAA. I am getting absolute shitty performance and to make things worse there is hitching in the game that I can't explain what's causing it. This is so fucking infuriating...

The guide by AndyBNV on geforce.com suggests the following settings for a 770 to keep above 40fps:

Where does the MFAA run into this?
Seen the screenshots for this on high end PC and decided to use my Free-coupon to get AC: Parity, wasn't gonna pay for it with Ubi's crap but the shots look absolutely stunning.
I haven't really played much, just to the opening scene with Arno, temped to wait until the tessellation patch comes out (whenever that is) as got plenty to keep me occupied, dragonage still to purchase + obsessed with dayz.
Curious how MFAA would run on a 980GTX @1510mhz, 7480mhz, 4.7ghz 4790k @ 1440p DSR compared to the other variations.
stick to fxaa, it works better
Not for me. MFAA works wonders. Put it at 2xMSAA, activate MFAA and judge for yourself honestly. You have the hardware, give it a try![]()
Bullshit fearmongering/trolling at a time when people are most likely to believe whatever bad news they hear.
The PC version of Unity isn't even horrible technically, its just the game in general, on all platforms.
stick to fxaa, it works better
No idea mate. What frames are you getting at 1080p? Only thing I was going to suggest is to try using FXAA over any of the other AA solutions since you are limited to 3GB but that doesn't seem to have helped in your case.
Might point towards a CPU or system RAM issue? Maybe 8GB is a bit low?
Which Nvidia drivers are you on?
Like 40-50 FPS with some terrible "hitching" every 2 seconds. Latest nVidia drivers.

Ok, the game seems to have fixed itself now. I disabled SLI and launched the game as requested above and to my surprise the hitching was gone. So at this point I pretty much believed that SLI was causing the hitching and to confirm this I enabled SLI and restarted the game.
No hitching. Hmm.
So at this point I went full YOLO mode and maxed the game out except I used FXAA and the game was pretty much locked at 60 FPS. So I don't really know what happened here but the game seems to have fixed itself? I mean I haven't updated any drivers and the game hasn't received an update as far as I know.
So I can join the people saying this game is absolutely beautiful. I mean it was beautiful before but it's also running smooth as butter now.
Cross quoting myself from another thread. The problem fixed itself after I disabled SLI and re-enabled it. Weird. But at least it works now.
Everything maxed out except AA (Using FXAA) I am 60 FPS locked.
Cut scenes drop to 50s sometimes but I am happy with the performance now.
Is Unity the only "next-gen only" game that is currently on PC?
I am trying to figure out if the high requirements of unity is a one-time thing or if i should expect similar requirements/performance from upcoming "next-gen only" games.
Isn't the new patch supposed to be out today??
Isn't the new patch supposed to be out today??
The requirements turned out to be highly exaggerated. An HD7970 (one of the minimum cards) can run the game at ultra settings, FXAA and get mostly 30fps at 1080p.
GTX 970
4770k
16gigs vengeance ram
everything maxed out + TXAA @ 1080p
Avg around 40~45fps running around on the streets and 50~60 on rooftops. cut scenes drop into the 30's and mid 20's.
Just bought a 2nd 970. Hopefully it will lock things in as close to 60 as possible.
What's it Oc'd to? If it's at 4.5 ghz and above you might be ok for 30fps at 1080 with most things maxed.
Heard nothing about it. Last update on their 'update blog' was dated 13th Nov
