Assassin's Creed Unity - Review Thread

So this is the lowest scoring AC game so far on Metacritic.

The second lowest scoring game on MC was revelations. (not including handheld games)

Alexandre Amancio might not be the best creative director for the series then since he worked on both.

I'm disappointed that the game seems to have a lot of technical problems as I've been interested in the setting since they initially announced the game. I might pick it up in the future when it is cheaper as I'm a fan of the series and still want to try it.

Driveclub says hi.

Isnt the issue with Driveclub more of the release being a trainwreck? Granted, they are still sorting out the social/online issues, but you can still play against the computer without issue. While a large component of the package might not work, the single player racing does, so I wouldn't label it the biggest trainwreck. Disappointing especially after a year delay? Yes. But AC Unity seems to deserve the train wreck award.

Well then. It sounds like I'm going to put this off a bit until at least a price drop. I have way too many games to play right now anyway and DA:I hasn't even dropped yet. Good thing I have zero interest in Rogue or else my wallet would still be hurting.

Well I wanted did want to purchase that Unity bundle, but if the games has this many problems I shall shield my wallet.

So essentially we had another AC3, a technical mess at launch that was just demonstration for a new engine. Bargin bin here we COME!

I tried to open another treasure chest, and was told I needed to sign up for Assassin’s Creed Initiates to open it."

Holy crap! Talk about taking you out of the experience.
No, it's part of the Ubisoft TM experience (patent pending).

79 on metacritic so it gets the

Is there a higher quality version of this?

Jeff Gertsman (I probably butchered that) and his review of Kane and Lynch for GameSpot and resulting actions is my response to your item #1.

Look at the fact that the Kane & Lynch situation was seven years ago and how much of a massive scandal and fiasco it was. Gamespot's never fully recovered in terms of readership and impact and other sites have taken steps to ensure the same thing doesn't happen to them.

Not sure if I even want to buy the game used anymore, WTF is this shit?

man, i thought that what ubi was showing several times at several different places was really the project that they were working on, this is so strange, with black flag they were fairly honest with what they were showing was what you got. I know that it's not uncommom for them to do this, but i think that at some point they should learn right?

I guess this game will put things into perspective at ubisoft, they are a very talented team, but having annual releases, locked to the holiday time, is getting very harmful to them in my opinion. It looks like they needed at least 6 more months for this game. ubisoft needs to know when the game needs more time, it will only harm their image

looks like another ac3 scenario, overambitious and they cant execute it properly. i still need to play this myself, i dont believe there is an AC game that i wont enjoy.

Is there even anything worthwhile in those chests? I the previous ACs it usually was a bunch of money and sometimes ammunition. If that's the case here as well I'll probably just completely ignore them.
I was surprised to find that some chests actually have clothes in them. I only found a few, and only in higher level locked chests (not sure if they all required level 3 lockpick or not though). Otherwise it's only money, but you actually need it a lot since money is actually harder to come by in ACU than in any other AC game. Especially the stuff you can renovate doesn't get you much money at all, with a rather ridiculous chest size to boot (like 800F with almost all renovated, that's ridiculously low when a high level chest can net you 4000). So yeah, I really went for every chests I found this time.

Rogue scoring higher then unity?! did not expect to see that! How do you screw up an AC game set during the french revolution! still gonna play this though love the setting.

When the review scale for AAA games is mostly 7-10, a metacritic of close to 70 is going to be viewed as complete shit, especially the way Ubi is doing things with apps and accounts and microtransactions

Implying Watch Dogs was a trainwreck? Seriously? It was a great open world game and very well recieved. People just set their expectations too high after the initial reveal, and honestly a lot of people decided they were going to hate it as soon as the graphical downgrade was revealed.

This game on the other hand genuinely seems like a disaster. It really doesn't compare.

Yeah, Watchdogs may not have lived up to the hype, but it wasn't a technical disaster on the level of this. I actually quite enjoyed Watchdogs.

Also not surprised if Rogue reviews better, even though it appears to rehash a lot from AC4, it seemed more interesting based on gameplay videos and trailers. Looks like Ubi should have just released Rogue on all systems this year and saved Unity for next year as it clearly wasn't ready.
