Assassin's Creed Unity - Review Thread

Welcome to the witch hunt...

TBH, I haven't picked up my pre-order yet (no midnight release at my reservation store), but if I were to go on the criticism in this thread, I really shouldn't. But then again, there's also a lot of praise for AC3 and I fucking HATED that game; it was a slap in the face after the awesomeness I experienced with 2, Brotherhood and Revelations (Desmond detours aside).

Anyone else think Rogue will maintain its lead over Unity?

Decided not to pick up my copy and put the cash towards Dragon Age instead. And then I signed up for Gamefly and added AC Unity to my Q.

BUTTT, there's already a used copy of Assassin's Creed Unity at a nearby Gamestop, lol. Might just buy it, beat it, return it.

Dudes why are the PS4 and Xbox One versions getting different averages.

They're supposed to be the same game.

statistically, they will converge when both formats have a large number of reviews

xbox one simply has less than a third of the number of reviews

if its higher, I cant imagine the reviewer having played other open world games like sunset overdrive.

Brutal times for Ubisoft, they're getting slammed and rightfully so. Micro transactions, bad
1080
PR, and making glitchy/overhyped games. They need to turn it around next year.

They're probably gonna make more money this year than they have ever.

They have 2 Assassin's Creed games coming out that will both sell very well. And they released WatchDogs, which sold millions of copies. As a new IP even. I agree that it's been a weak year for them quality-wise, but the numbers won't indicate that.

Seems more like a bug than a problem that will plague you. It's not a good thing to have there, but I'd hazard a guess that it's extremely specific to the exact spot that he's climbing in hence repeating it. It looks a lot like a similar issue that was happening on a stream in Notre Dame. Not trying to excuse the crappy FPS at all but it seems more like an issue with swapping out textures or something, maybe lighting based, triggered in that exact spot.

So you'll save what, five bucks? If you wanna buy used, wait a couple months and get it for half off at least, man.

WOW
Maybe Ubisoft will learn something from this, after all.

Meh,it still going to sell, just by looking at Destiny, maybe break records

It's a plain bad value for money versus other similar cost games IMO. Sunset Overdrive is a great game. If you want stealth and sword combat play shadow of mordor, you swing a sword like you are not high on H

But gamers are largely suckers, though. They'll buy/accept almost anything if they're fans of it. "Even with its flaws..." mentality rules the roost.

Haha...so now you're a sucker if you buy what you want to play. As if there's this plethora of games out there without nary a problem. Different people have different tastes along with different thresholds of performance they're willing to playthrough.

It doesn't make them a sucker...it just means they play what the hell they wanna play.

That God I live in Europe. I now have time to cancel my pre-order. My wallet can now breatha sigh of relief. I'm also sort of tempted to cancel my Farcry 4 order now over a lot of this.

Yes, at the very least rent it.

Far Cry 4 looks solid, its an incremental upgrade from FC3 versus an entirely new engine, I dont think that will turn out bad.

There is a reason that the scores are lower than Destiny. At least Destiny is a good core foundation for a better sequel.

I dont understand the defenders of this game

Look at a crowd of people that isnt just a group of copy cats. They wear identical copies of each others clothes, in mostly identical 3 or 4 shades. They dont even apply a simple effect to put discolotion/dirt etc on them they are literally identical. Compare that with dead rising 3 zombies which are all totally unique.

Buildings are copy pastes of each other. Stores and cafes are just simple textured fronts, you cant go in nor can you even see inside.

Streets and interiors are 70-80 blank space of just floors (presumably to support co-op and therefore more space for people to occupy).

Fight enemies 10 times slower than mordor, where you can hit enemies several times without any impact or effect.

The only colorful interiors are for the rich/expensive interiors which is great and all but when 90% of your game is contrasted in boring muted lifeless colors, it doesnt make for an interesting environment to explore.

It's...almost as if some people have higher standards. Imagine that.

I don't have much faith in the engine for FC4 personally just yet. Not only did FC3 run like crap on PS3 but it also ran like crap on my PC. A certain setting was outright broken, micro stuttering was horrible and never managed to fix it, but worst of all random things would lock my FPS at an awkward 28 out of nowhere, like getting in a car, seeing water or deciding to face west. My system had no trouble holding 60fps until it randomly locked itself every few minutes. The only solution was to change a graphical setting, apply, then swap it back, and even then it would only work for a minute or two.

Gave up on it in the end since it was such a headache. Will be waiting for the DF analysis before I put a FC game back on the maybe list due to my experiences with their last game.

Really? It ran ok on my laptop which is waaaaaaaaay slower than a desktop machine, but I didnt max the settings.

I think it will run good on PS4/Xbone just not on the older consoles

My 660Ti ran farcry 3 flawlessly. With everything max. At 60fps.

Next-gen doesn't start here, apparently.

From interviews, it sounds like they made some bets based on their expectations of the hardware that just didnt pan out since hardware was less capable than they expected.

I think they needed another 3-6 months but Ubisoft didnt want the huge stock hit (like with watchdogs) and decided to ship as is.
