This game! THIS GAME, YOU GUYS. I haven't played a lot of it yet obviously, but first impressions are great. Everything I've seen and heard up until now has said content isn't really an issue and it looks like more has been added since I really checked in, so I'm glad I grabbed it. Hope the game gets attention from full release. The demo also seems really generous. Or maybe it just felt that way because I was about ten seconds into the tutorial before I had my mind made up.

Also I don't mind at all during gameplay but the sheer size of those heads in cut scenes did make me wonder what kind of nightmare horror show scientists developed these androids.

The characters actually started out much sleeker in a more traditional anime style, but were re-designed because it was really hard to play a top down 3D shmup with slim character profiles.

The heads make them a lot easier to see, especially with the single bright color motif, and Tim developed a new art style that I think works well :) Maybe some folks will hate it, but I think they are adorable.

I'm loving the game, but it made the same mistake Spelunky did at launch. There should be an option to invert the function of the right trigger. Having to depress the trigger for extended periods of time gets old after a couple hours. Holding the trigger to cease firing would take the constant strain off your index finger even if it seems less intuitive. It wouldn't have been as immediately annoying had we not already suffered through this same issue with Spelunky already.

kinda iffy when it comes to other characters,

you don't want one of the unlockables to always have shoot mode on, as it puts you at a hell of a disadvtantage.

maybe Paz...have the trigger as manual shoot, but R1/Bumper as a TOGGLE.

that might solve that issue. even if not mandatory, it might be a good optional feature

Definitely makes sense for readability and that's where it matters. Some of those low angle shots though...Anime girl easter island heads looking down at the camera.

This only had the time to enter my mind because I didn't skip the cut scenes in the first place though, which is usually a good sign.

I'd just like the option to invert it since my index finger isn't enjoying this stuff as much after squeezing it for 100+ hours of Spelunky before they added the option. We can always change it if we want to play another character where it makes less sense. Would it make more sense to make the button a toggle? It could be like inverting polarity in Ikaruga, because that would work just as well.

We have plans for accessibility options including auto fire and potentially things like aim/moving that should resolve this, though the invert button press idea is interesting. Didn't have time to map out those features properly in game in a way that made it easy for people to control them per player, but they are on our list of future improvements.

For now we thought leaving it as press to fire was best as that will be the default anyway, and it allows us to have weapons like Helo/Aubergine that make sense with press to fire and also precision weapons like the Rail Gun and Shotgun.

You can also consider using the bumper buttons for now, firing and weapon swap are double mapped.

No it's out on steam. Not actually out

I apologize for not realising that you wanted the console version, though you meant out of early access, but since you're being a bit of a dick with "its out on steam so not actually out" I'm not THAT sorry. Wtf is that even supposed to mean? It doesn't count until it's out in consoles?

Yeah, that title needs to specify it's PC-only for now.
No room in the thread title, I'm afraid. If I included all the options of platforms, I'd have about 10 chars available for an actual descriptor (which is IMO worse than not mentioning specific platforms, if it's not obvious from the game title).

Just figured that "multiple platforms" was vague enough that people would read the OP and see "**Coming soon on PS4, PS-Vita and WiiU**" underneath the header/Steam banner. I've since updated it to mention "Q1 2016" given that seems to be the target the WB guys are aiming for.

Edit: If it was Steam the original poster was trying to avoid, I'd hazard a guess and say that it just won't be likely to come out via any other means (like GOG) due to the way the leaderboards are integrated into the game. Maybe not, but it sounds valid enough.

No, see below your post

It's a PC game right now. We don't have OTs for unreleased games. (Multiple platforms) should be changed to "Steam/PC". It can be updated or get a new OT when the console versions are out.

Been looking forward to this for a long time, and it's looking better than ever. I still may try to hold out for the PS4 version though.

I guess technically it is multiple platforms, given it's out on OSX and Linux as well and not just PC. But I'll PM a mod and see if it can be made a bit more specific without getting too messy.

Ah, fair enough. I'll PM a mod and get them to change it.

As a compromise I think you should feature that it's coming to consoles later more prominently in the OP, with an extra banner like the Steam one for example.. I think it deserves all the attention it can get, it just should be a fair treatment :)

Should just remove the platform thing all together from the title. It's only generally later releases that need the specification.

The game is announced for multiple platforms but only is released for one. The specification is needed to avoid posts like the one from Viktor.

I'm going to leave it for the moment, I think. If you check my (stealth ninja) edit, it's kind of out on multiple platforms (OSX and Linux as well as Windows), with more to come. And if there's a silly thing cropping up only over 100 posts into the thread (and being a discrepancy between PC and Steam, no less) then I don't see it as an issue for the time being.

Was silly to think the typical train of thought would be "Which multiple platforms? I'll check the OP!", but then I realised this is NeoGAF, dude ;)

Oh like a reverse Origin thing? Cute
naw more like Steam isn't spelled PC

This is hilariously conceited.

I propose the console OT be subtitled "The Prototype Viktor approved version."

I'll allow it

I'd like a warning it's only found in 1 place in all of the entire internet

Instead of being hilariously passive aggressive why not just post something like "Do you have plans to bring this to places other than Steam like GOG?", considering a developer of the game is posting in the thread.

This is probably the correct thing to do. I don't think the Axiom Verge thread had platform specifics in the title despite releasing on PC later.

No gog because they never returned my submission from way back when but we are on humble via widget on our site and the humble store, comes with a DRM free build and steam key (Steam version is also DRM free though heh).

i know Paz is on the site and using humble to get a steam key isn't helping my avoiding steam. I've been waiting since it was first talked about but this is just a reminder i got to wait even longer. There's 3 games i need asap and none of them have a actual release date
AAC
The Tomorrow Children
Drifter

Two people above you, including the dev of the game, just posted about their DRM free version at Humble and on their own site.

The post right above yours by Paz says that the humble store version includes DRM free copies.

Wow, that's sad, I had kind of hoped that it'd come to gog. Weird they wouldn't reply. Still, nice to have a DRM-free non-Steam alternative on humble.
And thanks for the great Linux support by the way!

Try the demo?

Thank you!

I've been trying the demo. Using the default configuration, there are slight frametimes problems occasionally. Forcing 'vsync on' in drivers and putting frame limit to 60 in the game menu fixed it completely.

Using that configuration, the framerate is the most stable I've seen in any Unity game. Congratulations for developers.

However, the game has in my opinion an absurd design decision. Every time an enemy explodes the camera experiences a jump in the direction of the explosion producing the same effect as if the framerate had a hitch. In this game, there are enemies exploding every second. I don't understand how anyone could think that producing a hitch in the fluid camera movement every second could be a good decision.

After 10 minutes of playing I had dizziness. Until there is an option to disable this effect I can not buy the game, and it bothers me because it is just amazing.

It's perfectly visible in this 60 fps footage of the first level

I like how Aubergine controls her robo-top Helo differently with a mouse an keyboard. It's so much easier than constantly having to feather the trigger on my 360 controller.

Some things never change. 5-3, 5-4 and 5-5 are still a giant pain-in-the-ass to get S+ ranking on. :(

On the bright side, weaving in and out with Liquorice to get Vorpal Blade strikes off feels awesome.

That's camera shake, which we think is a really important part of the game feel but I can totally understand some people have specific responses that aren't good.

That being said, this thread was the first time in 3 years of development and 2 years of Early Access anyone had mentioned it as being a problem for them, so it wasn't high on our list of things to get in for launch. It's on the list along with accessibility features as future improvements we'd like to make if things go well.

Just wanted to say next week I'll be having a contest to give away two copies of Assault Android Cactus in this topic, so stay tuned~.

If you ever looked over at your systems of yore and wondered what exactly is missing from your collection today, you'll understand what it is after you played Assault Android Cactus.

Has anyone tried the game in 3D Vision? If it works well in 3D I'll be picking up a copy asap.

Sometimes people is not really aware of little things that annoy them and simply look at games globally.

I mean, if you could do a survey about the "camera shake" like

A - I like it
B - I would prefer if only a few big explosions generate camera shake
C - I would prefer if it were toggleable as an option
D - It's annoying

I bet that B+C+D >> A
