Assetto Corsa -- New racing sim from the developer of netKar Pro

I dare any of you to post positive comments on the WMD forum 8) It's my favourite thread to read as some WMD members get uptight over the opposition and I do love it when a certain 'moderator' takes pot-shots at positive AC posts.

Both AC and CARS look sensational but for me it's how it drives and feels behind the wheel that will determine which I find is the better sim.

I'm sure you've all seen this by now: https://twitter.com/Luca_Sodano/status/350332410522632192

Sorry Travis but that's complete and utter BS. The thread is well over 130 pages and the far majority of it is positive about AC as most WMD members (and devs) actually do like what is and look forward to what is coming on the simracing front.

Can you say the same, you seem somewhat "obsessed" what people say on that forum lately?

I get frustrated at the 'us versus them' mentality and in hindsight I should have posted 'vocal minority' but I stand by my comment about a particular moderator there. I'm sure he won't lose any sleep over my comments. For the record I don't really care what is said on any forum despite what I may post from time to time - I prefer even handed comments about sims and that is why you'll find my positive comments about CARS on RD when a lot of others post to the negative 8)

As I've stated, I'm a fan of all sims/racing games, even glitchy messes like MotoGP '13 that I spent my money on...

Cheers.

Hi Travis,

as you can see from my previous highlight, I have no issue with people having an opinion about others (presume Remco , he always has really liked what he likes ;) ). My issue with your post(s) was the broad generalisation about people on another forum, when that was , IMO, far from the truth and we are talking about just a vocal few, on both sides of the argument.

I to get really tired about those people, the vocal ones and maybe I read to much in your previous post (generalisation), so let's get back to enjoying all are wonky and glitchy racing sims.

Enjoy the weekend and the TT in Assen m8, Moto 3 race was a nice start ;)

Good carlist to start but theres room for improvement:

Bmw M1 Procar
Bmw 3.0 CLS
Lamborghini Miura SV
Lamborghini Countach LP500
Lamborghini Diablo SV (or SE30 if they want something unique)
Lamborghini Murcielago SV
Mclaren F1 LM or GTR short tail.

Those cars would make the car list much better.

Is Assetto Corsa playable by general population, can it be preordered and played now? What tracks/cars are offered?

You can play the tech demo if you buy their other game netkar. Pre purchase will hopefully go up soon, no date yet.

Track/car list 2 posts up

Looking really good.

I don't know if it's just me though, but anyone else slightly annoyed by the yellow/pinkish tone of the tarmac in every shot? I've rarely seen a neutral grey color for the asphalt. It's the same in the tech preview. I change the time to noon, and it still feels like I'm in the afternoon. Removing HDR helps a bit, but I can't stop noticing it :P

Good thing these minor quibbles are easily tweaked with PC games.

Marco Massarutto from Kunos is correct: €40-€45 or $50-$60USD is an excellent price for what should be a top tier sim.

So what do you guys think would be a good pre-order lead time? Two months? Three? Less? Is there any pattern you've seen on Steam with these things? Mid-July with a two month lead brings us to mid-September. That would sound pretty good to me.

Before someone starts to complain about the missed use of Elgato, Fraps or any other software/device for video capture: this is not a promotional video or channel related to Kunos Simulazioni or Assetto Corsa; our videomaker is already working on several official teasers and gameplay videos that will be released at the proper time.

The following video is just to be intended as a first look about gameplay, dynamic car behaviour, general appearance, and so on, even if the game is still in development. Hope you like it.

As I said on GTS forum, good to see how Kunos is the only developer besides Polyphony Digital who actually understands what light temperature and white balance are, how do they work in real-life and how they should be implemented within global illumination engine.

That footage looks like a Gran Turismo replay and that is the best compliment that can be presented to some car game.

It will be amazing game.

On the same note, I hope Kunos will accept this as fast as they can:

Looking (and sounding) really good. Still, I agree with Polyphony above on the pinkish tone of the tarmac, I have no idea why they would do that.

Looks and sounds great!

I just want to know one thing. If PD, SMS, Kunos..etc can have tyre sidewall markings, why the fuck can't Turn 10 do it?
It gives the cars so much more character.
It boggles my mind..

Imola is in AC? Holy shit, they're doing everything they can to make me want this game.

Between this and pCARS... my mind is full of fuck.

It's so odd... this seems to have the vibe of a GT or Forza game, but obviously with a far better "sim" experience. I don't know why, but I just don't get any of that feeling with pCARS... still feels like a very SMS/Shift-type game :(

PS. That grass... actually looks like grass! There's texture and depth to it, without being flat with just the odd 2D polygon sticking out to "represent" grass. Thank god. Just look at how the shadows from trees fall on it. Glorious.

I'd never seen this exact screen before, but holy shit:
Dat paint ripple... also, official Pirelli co-operation (or at least, license)?

Lighting still looks a little off there, but it's an old screen so I'm sure it's been tweaked since.

How many posters in this thread have access to the tech demo? I fired AC up for the first time in a while and like GSC, it feels right from the moment I turn the wheel. I was hoping AC would appear in the Steam sales as a 10% off pre-order (not that I care about the price).

I have access, but I don't have my wheel setup right now. I probably should do that.

I agree, I loved the tech demo, it does indeed just feel very 'right' out of the gates..

I might even build a small gaming rig just because of this, so I can have all my gaming needs in one room (with the consoles)..
