Assetto Corsa Rally

Awesome game, great on controller , looks fantastic and runs fantastic for me so far.

Have only set Resolution to 1440p and frame rate to 70fps.

Stuttered a fair bit when I did a Welsh rally in storm conditions but nothing that ruined it for me.

I'm a shit rally driver though.

Anyone else has this issue?

When i use the XBOX One controller it moves like this. When i use the keyboard it looks normal.

Do you have a similar issue? I'm looking around the internet to find a fix and it seems like i'm the only one who has it.

Whats the word on community made stages?

Most big rally games get boring quick because it's like 4 or 5 stages that get cut up and reversed.

Would be keen to jump in when some mod support comes!

After playing it a bit more this afternoon, I've come to the conclusion that it either REQUIRES a wheel setup to actually enjoy, or it just isn't for me in general. The steering feels really floaty and almost like input lag on a controller. Compared to Dirt Rally which is much snappier and responsive, I'm not a fan. If you like Assetto Corsa in general you'll probably be happy with it but it's not really for me. I'll keep watching it over time and hoping it gets mod support one day, but I know VR is a pipe dream. It does not run too hot on my 9950x3D and 5090. DLSS Quality is a requirement for good framerates at 4k. I can't imagine how insanely taxing VR would be since it needs so many more pixels and renders in stereo.

I seen some controller tips yesterday but can't recall what it was. For myself I added a bit of steering deadzone (like 3), and increased linearity to max I think. Having to put the car into reverse, while driving in auto was odd too, usually you just hold left trigger, but in this you actually have to downshift it manually into reverse with one of the face buttons by default. Not sure if design decision or oversight. I saw some other settings someone said to do but forgot where I saw it.

But yeah this is THE rally game imo. Nacon has the rights to WRC now and will put out a new game in 2027. That gives AC Rally a TON of time to cook and deliver the best game they can. Not that AC Rally would have to worry about Kylotonn's new WRC but honestly their WRC entries were just starting to get solid imo. WRC 9/10 and Generations were all decent. I love the free roam worlds they have too, I really hope they put a playground type open map in AC Rally to test drive and free roam around.

Thing is that WRC and Kylotonn will always aim for a yearly type of game like sports and try to farm on a few car differences and roster and try to make you pay for as little content as they can get away with right?

Assetto Corsa Rally is gonna change all that. We have a new baseline for a rally king we haven't had since RBR. What I mean is that when devs allow modding like all Assetto Corsa got, it'll be crowned king. Fans were laser scanning roads for RBR imagine that. You basically have infinite replayability for decade(s) to come. WRC kind of becomes meaningless because in time you'll probably have all tracks and equivalent cars in. Very exciting stuff.

Anyways, I want to make an OT for this game, anyone have suggestions for titles?

I'm just spitballing here

I pulled the trigger. I'll let everyone know if the little Deck that could can run it or not.

I was considering, but after seeing that the game doesn't seem to handle well on controller for some (sort of expected, honestly), I can wait.
No Racing Wheel + Pedals setup...yet. I'll see about any Black Friday Sales.

Yes! That's the exact same issue I have too. The steering with the sticks is broken and just doens't work properly. Like, all you have to do is launch any recent Forza Horizon and you won't have the same issue at all. There's also no sensitivity settings and sliders for sticks to try and fix this too.

Have you joined their Discord by any chance - https://discord.gg/assettocorsa ? They ask everyone to provide feedback there as well as tell them about the issues the game has so that they could address them later. They already fixed FFB issues for some people so I'm sure they can do the same for controllers.

People did some digging and found some cars possibly coming in future updates:

I had a causal look at the game folders and found some interesting files, that someone may have forgotten to remove from the current build (or not ?) in Assetto Corsa Rally\acr\Content\FMod\Desktop\EngExh\General

So what can be expected in the future potentially ?
Subaru Impreza S5
Alpine A110
BMW M3 E30
Fiat 500
Fiat Punto S1600
Ford Escort RS1800
Ford Fiesta R5
Ford Fiesta WRC 2016
Lancia Delta S4
Peugeot 306 Maxi
Renault R5 Turbo
Renault Clio (S1600 not sure, no more detail in the file name)
Toyota Celica
Toyota Corolla 1998
Audi Quattro
Audi Quattro Gr A

Of course these are just files in the game folder, does not mean all will be released. But the list looks plausible based on current and past licences obtained by Kunos.

Give us that Celica so we can complete the Sega Rally Holy Trinity.

Been playing this today with a controller and honestly it's perfectly fine. You don't need a wheel to enjoy it, if you've played any other rally titles with a controller you'll have a blast. Almost every single video I've looked at on this game has some dude with a high end race rig…and I'm sitting here with a controller thinking "man, this plays really great". It's better than WRC Generations and EA Sports WRC. Easily as good at Dirt 2.0. The full game is probably on track to be the pinnacle of rally sims. Repeat: you DO NOT need a wheel to enjoy this game.

Real rally drivers seem to be very impressed with the accuracy of the driving physics in this game. I have a racing wheel (G29, so very old and not a good one, but still better than gamepad), so I'm tempted to buy and test this game.

Graphics also much better compared to dirt rally 2.

I follow that guy's content for a while and goddamn his rig is cool. Looks bonkers from his perspective.

Playing with a controller feels like an insult to driving simulations. Playing it on steam deck is something else. They'll probably improve it, but if you're into this genre, I recommend getting a steering wheel set, even the most basic one(I had a lot of fun with logitech momo).

I'm really interested in this game, but after the shoulder problem I had with RBR, I'm hesitant about rally games. Unfortunately, rally games are the most enjoyable driving simulations.

No problem here with a Dualsense.

Are the controls on pad really as bad as the steam reviews say?
Plays like a dream with the Dualsense in my opinion.

Don't notice much difference in gameplay to Dirt Rally.
But the graphics are incredible, very close to photo-realistic (except for people).

Only the announced ~100km of tracks for version 1.0 are a problem - that's ridiculously little content for a rallye title.

Wish we could import Dirt Rally/EA WRC tracks.

Yeah, i can't find any additional information (let alone a fix) for my gamepad issue. So i guess i'll have to wait for the next major update before i ever play this. Too bad because otherwise i like it a lot.

I have a Fanatec DD2 setup with motion. The Motion feels great and much better than EA WRC. The FFB though needs work. With the motion I can feel dips and the texture of the road which is all missing from the wheel FFB. There is some FFB, but it's not consistent which makes driving more difficult than it already is.

Are there any single player career modes with progression or is this more of a pick your stage and go online leaderboard type of thing? I like playing sims but I'm not particularly competitive. (I know I know)

No Single player career yet it's just time trials and leaderboards.

Game looks incredible. Here's one from Gamereactor and their simulator:

Rally fans must be really be happy right now.

I tried playing with the Xbox One gamepad and it was possible to complete the stage without any problems. In my opinion, this game can be played and enjoyed with a gamepad as long as you're willing to practise.

However, assetto corsa rally is much better experience on a racing wheel, even very old one like my G29. I can easily control the drifts, and there's a strange feeling that the game finally captures the essence of real car driving. There isn't a lot of content, but the quality is exceptional. Once finished, this game will surpass Dirt Rally 2. I love classic arcade rally games from PS2 era (Colin Mcrae 2-5, WRC 1-5 from evolution studios), but assetto corsa is something else. I would describe this game as a dream come true for rally fans.

As for the graphics, they aimed for a photorealistic look, which they achieved (unlike dirt rally 2). The HDR lighting and quality of the trees up close is exceptional; however, trees in the distance can look extremely dated and PS2-like. Performance on my PC (78003D, RTX4080S) is very good and I turned everything to the max:D.

I would love some other classic rally cars like the 1995 Impreza, the Lancer and the Castrol Corola and Celica.

Just those four cars and i wouldn't need anything else.
