Got it pre-ordered and everything!

Honestly, this wasn't even on my radar before last week but after playing the Steam Next Fest demo I was very pleasantly surprised. Souls-lite mixed with standard RPG mechanics and some Lara Croft quipping as the cherry on top? Sign me up! Despite the colourful visuals and perhaps more conventional design choices I still got my arse handed to me plenty of times by a particular boss though so don't expect a walk in the park. At least that's what I found out while playing on the "Challenging" difficulty mode in any case. That said I'm no Dark Souls expert so your mileage may vary of course. Even if it turns out to be the most casual friendly Soulslike around I'm still hyped as I'm just excited for a less oppressive and gothic Souls experience. That might be a deal breaker for some which is fair enough but personally I can't wait to die over and over again in, what looks like, a Disney theme park!

The real Asterigos begins now...

Oh and it's available for a budget price btw: 35 rupees in both Euroland and Americastates.

I really liked the demo. I am just wondering if there's any chance if it could come to Gamepass in near future. If not I'll wait for a 50% sale.

Thanks for the post VN1X VN1X I snagged it.

Hope you are part of the dev team, if not they owe ya beer/coffee.

🍻
Hah I'm afraid not. Just a fan of (cheap) indie games lol.

Lets just hope it's actually decent so I don't get ostracized from the forum after this thread. :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

> Soulslike

> Action RPG

That could be an issue. Making a soulslike or an action RPG is one thing. But combining them two without the game feeling disjointed takes resources that i don't expect a small indie studio to have.

Anyway, looks kind of interesting in that special AA janky way.

Someone on their discord has finished the PS5 version already, clocking in at a total of 60 hours of playtime on the "Challenging" difficulty. Sounds promising and I would've been happy with half that amount even!

Also, apparently the game unlocks at 19:00 CET.

Seems like a decent purchase after a few months when they'll prolly fix some of the bugs/jank. Not a fan of those animations but for that price and if its indeed that long, sure, why not.

60 hours? Dafuq? Do they even have enough content to sustain such a long game?

60 hours??

I’m not trying to play a 60 hour character action game tbh. Only games that get that amount of investment from me these are gran scale rpgs, and big AAA open world games, not from ubisoft. This game is much more appealing as a 15-20 hour game

Saw screenshots for this on the Xbox store and it reminded me of that immortals fenyx rising game haha :)

Pretty sure I even put the same hairstyle on my character too XD

How is this game for those that have played? Reviews are mixed on Xbox, but all the reviews seem to just be complaining about how early access didn't work/unlock on the 11th.

I think it looks neat myself and it's on my wishlist.

Granted I think that person did all of the side-stuff as well while also going for 100% completion (as far as that is possible on the first run).

I reckon a first playthrough (on Challenging) will be between 20 and 40 hours. But who knows, it might be the most addictive thing ever and then I could see myself also reach that hour-count.

I’ll be waiting to hear your thoughts on it. I got Plague Tale and Rabbids next week so im not trying to invest in another long game before that.

It's a very forgiving soulslike with a Disney Princess. The Steam Next demo was decent, got inside the city and Alt+F4'd to wishlist.

I have a few problems with the game, first off a minor fixable one and that's the graphics settings, it had everything maxed out with performance murdering ultra settings so I got 47fps (VRR made it looks fine) on my humble PC, reducing some settings to high and I got 120fps out of it.
Then there's the protagonist talking to herself, that's something crazy people do. Editing her monologues so they sound like internal thought, with a small echo or similar would make it less jarring, or have her address a companion creature like a miniature space hamster in her pocket. But the game is releasing today, so crazy cat lady simulator it is.

We need more info on the combat.

How much AA janky it is? Biomutant level? Elex level? Darksiders 3 level? Horizon melee level?

I wish I could say, but I haven't actually played any of those examples to compare. (I would loved to have played the Horizon games, but I'm on XBox Series X.)

I can say the combat is no where near as tight as Eldin Ring and it's difficulty is way more forgiving. The combat is maybe a bit more like Immortals Fenyx Rising, but it's far more confined to the ground (jumping is more for rare traversal moments and is done by holding right trigger and hitting B/Circle).

Even though combat isn't as tight, I'm still having fun with it. My only wish is that there was a map. My own sense of direction is pretty darned terrible, but at least the locations I've seen so far are well designed and easily recognizable.

It seems a large part of the game is in the choices you make along the way. I almost alienated myself from the first main group of people for killing a boss they rather I had left to live. I'm hoping that greatly adds to the replayability. :)

The game has low scores on Steam, but it seems to be from people whining about the game going on sale after they purchased it, or being unable to remap controls

3.5 hours in and finished the first real zone/boss. It seems each zone has an "end cinematic" that shows the results of what you did. I'll definitely be replaying again to go for a different outcome.

Played the demo on PC for 10 minutes before quiting because of unbearable micro stutter. I'm tired of games and dev incompetence to deal with (shader compilation?) stutter.

Combat animations looked pretty good but I'm not playing games anymore that stutter. I'd rather play with consistent 30fps than dealing with this.

About three hours in and I'm enjoying it for the most part! There's some jank and low budget shenanigans but otherwise it's been a very solid and engaging Soulslite. There's a heavy focus on narrative which I'm never a fan of; endless dialogue trees (that really go on and on forever) and a ton of lore dumps to find out in the field. Even knocking on the countless doors in the first main area, after the prologue, is just non-stop text thrown at your face from characters named "Poor B" and "Poor G", etc lol (without any VO btw). It's a bit much.

Anyway, performance has been rock solid for me. I'm playing on an ageing rig and at 1440p it hardly ever drop below 60fps with most of the settings on either Quality or Ultra Quality. So no complaints from me there! I only wish I could rebind the controls on my controller but thankfully they've already announced a patch for that.

Tears of Nintendo
I'm about 9 hours in so far, finished 2 main quests. It's a very ambicious game when it comes to character development, lore and world building, it has really good voice acting (yet all optional stuff is not voiced which is very disappointing), but when it comes to design and combat system, it's a game from 2009-2010 (or somewhere around that time) mixed with some Souls-like mechanics. There's quite a few fetch quest I've finished so far, most of which are not very interesting. Combat is not perfect either but it works. There's no fast travel and only a weird imitation of it which I don't like - you have to use special stones to teleport to magical pedestals you last saved at and you can't choose which one, only the last one, which is a huge pain in the ass cuz of the maze-like level design and not very obvious quest locations. There's also quite a few bugs which led me to restart the game cuz after I used teleportation stone, Hilda vanished but haven't telepored to main hub / shelter and I could roam around the map with no way to interact with anything or even open up the menus.

I like this game, but it is nowhere near perfect which is totally understandable cuz of its budget (which I'm sure wasn't huge) and it's their first game so... I've willing to close my eyes on a lot of stuff. I mean, what they've done and tried to do in this game is very impressive and cool, it's just lack of budget clearly shows that a lot of things had to be cut or scaled down. The game also can look pretty sometimes, but most of the time it's not even on the level of the first UE4 games, there's also no SSAO at all, almost no shadows, complex lighting to create the mood etc. etc. etc., but artwork and art-design is very good.

I'll continue playing more cuz I'm sure it has qute a few surprises left in store and I want to see all it has to offer in terms of story, world and characters.

Not that impressed to be honest.

About five hours in. It’s not a Souls game, at all. It’s an action rpg.

Camera is awful. Combat is enjoyable, when it works, but full of jank. It’s alright for the price but definitely getting overrated.

Darksiders 3 is a good comparison.

It’s almost great, but falls short in a number of ways. You have six weapons available, with two used at any one time. The weapons have weight and, once you’re engaged in combat, it feels good.

Unfortunately, you’re forever fighting the camera. There’s no camera snap to where you are facing (as far as I am aware) so you have to turn towards enemies. Special moves are irritating rather than enjoyable and there’s always a sense that something is slightly off.

Just too ambitious. They would have been better off reducing the options and refining a smaller pool of weapons.
