3.5 hours in and finished the first real zone/boss. It seems each zone has an "end cinematic" that shows the results of what you did. I'll definitely be replaying again to go for a different outcome.
Can you spoiler what you did?

Not that impressed to be honest.

About five hours in. It’s not a Souls game, at all. It’s an action rpg.

Camera is awful. Combat is enjoyable, when it works, but full of jank. It’s alright for the price but definitely getting overrated.
I think the price definitely helps yes. It's great for its price point but I wouldn't have paid more than I already have (and just checked and I see it's already *even* cheaper out there).

Darksiders 3 is a good comparison.

It’s almost great, but falls short in a number of ways. You have six weapons available, with two used at any one time. The weapons have weight and, once you’re engaged in combat, it feels good.

Unfortunately, you’re forever fighting the camera. There’s no camera snap to where you are facing (as far as I am aware) so you have to turn towards enemies. Special moves are irritating rather than enjoyable and there’s always a sense that something is slightly off.

Just too ambitious. They would have been better off reducing the options and refining a smaller pool of weapons.
I bought the game for 20 euros yesterday and already played 3 hours but thanks for the preview anyway.

I think you can set a button for the camera to return behind your back but i'm not sure, look at the control options, something related to pushing the stick.

From what i played I think that darksiders 3 has better combat and it's just a better game overall, not aure why people didn't liked that one, they even fixed the super strict evade move (and i had no problem with that)

I played normal and killed whoever attacked me. From the dialogue and choices with the end boss and the quest giver there seems to be a way to negotiate and keep things quiet so you dont kill the end boss but you need to not kill so much. The ending cutscene is also labeled "reckless outcome" or something similar.

I'd be disappointed if this was played up so much and turns out to be false though.

This is the first game where i'm using amd fsr 2.0 and...it's not that bad?!

Only tried 4k quality tho.

Also the game has more lore than i was expecting, it's not super interesting but it was a pleasant surprise.

Yeah level design and how much you can custom your build are pretty surprising for a game like this, i'm liking it more than kena except for the graphic.

The team deserve a bigger budget but they really did what they could.

Ogbert Ogbert you have to go into option and then input to set the stick to bring the camera on your back.

I'm interested because I love third person action adventure games, like Kena, but why the horrendous user score in Metacritic??

People mad because steam discounted the game after they bought it if i remember well.

If you liked kena you are gonna like this one aswell.

Controls are more clunky but combat and enemy variety is much better imo.

Ahhh, is it a review bombing not related to quality then? Good to know.

I mean the game is not the second coming of jesus but a 3/10 game it is not.
Yeah I think they done goofed with the launch discount by not activating it for... well, launch.

It's funny because it's the first time for me that going with a reseller has worked out in favour compared to the official store as I got a refund out of nowhere after purchasing the game. Didn't have to do anything and just got threefiddy back.

Picked up on Xbox Series X. $34.99, but then I had $25 in Microsoft Rewards, so it came to $11 with taxes. I get an Immortal Fenyx vibe from it so far, which I absolutely loved. At least the style. Controls and camera have been smooth, performance has been good. It's exactly the game I need to play next after just finishing The Last of Us Part 1 Remake.

Have to be honest there is some bullshit in this game. For instance the only reason I found out how to "quench the magic flames" (to gain access to the academy and the mines) is because a loading tool tip told me what to use. Even then it was still a mechanic that seemed like I was doing it wrong as you're basically slashing your primary weapon (in my case the sword) into some flames while taking damage. Really odd.

What's also bizarre is how you can carry up to 20 health vials but once they are depleted you are required to fast travel back to the shelter, grab the vials that have been automatically transferred there (the ones you've picked up but while maxed out) and then you teleport back to where you came from. Not only is this super cumbersome but it also decreases your Starite (souls) whenever you do so. It's especially frustrating as you don't get a standard amount of vials whenever you rest at a bonfire (or whatever they are called in this game). So I've had a situation where I'm just dying over and over again to a boss because I don't have enough vials and they don't replenish when dying/resting. You could argue this is a skill issue of course but this brings me to my next point...

I'm not ashamed to admit that for first two major bosses (Bazaar boss and the Harpy) already put the difficulty down from Challenging to Story. Honestly I just can't be bothered by ridiculous cheese and cheap attacks from these bosses. Often times I found myself behind cover or blocking but then still taking damage because an attack just went through geometry or caught me despite hammering the dodge or block button. Life's too short too to be spending hours stuck at some shoddy designed boss encounters (that seem to require a very specific play style) in a game like this.

Even the story bits I just skip now as there's just too much faffing about in terms of dialogue, characters and lore that's scattered throughout the game. I'm still enjoying it but it's a budget buy at best and even then you'd have to prepare mentally to be ready to deal with a certain amount of jank lol.
