Astrobot demo gameplay (off screen)

Nah, i'm fine.
Anyways your logic is flawed, gaming on PC is like gaming on XBox so theoratically i have a console.

A PC port doesn't make sense.
I think with all of the PlayStation DNA injected into this game, there's no chance it'll hit PC. It screams exclusive.

Been a while, but did i dont recall Astro making those annoying as Mario like sounds...shit a cute lol
I noticed that too, I don't remember character sounds beyond the occasional squealing between set pieces. 'Weeeeee'
Then the bots all gathered around chattering at the end of a level.

What??
I'm a PC player and i understand the nostalgia they tried to convey in astro bot for the PS4
Okay, so whats stopping you from buying this on the ps5 if you enjoy the nostalgia so much? Thats the biggest draw for this game. They could have named this game anything else, and it wouldnt have nearly the same reception without the Playstation hisitory in it. Thats why Im confused why someone would want this on Pc when they choose to leave the Playstation behind...

Your nostalgia is more like WoW, Doom, Portal, DOTA, etc.

You do know they are PC gamers who used or still own PlayStation systems, right?
Im sure, but that doesnt mean a game should be ported to Pc though. Some games need to remain exclusive to represent the brand. This games makes less sense to port to Pc than Sacks Boys Big Adventure or Rachet and Clank Rift Apart did.

The octopus fight had a resemblance to an old school God of War boss fight.
That kind of makes sense. Did you watch the direct feed footage? Astro Bot collects Kratos and Atreus after you beat that level the first time.

This is the Odyssey beach octopus boss for comparison

Astrobot squid looks much better/more fun imo, but then again I'm not a big fan of this squid transformation ability in Odyssey.

The Galaxy squid was more fun than Odyssey for me.

Astrobot looks better/more fun than that as well. Definite Game of the Year material. Great for the hobby, and the Playstation platform, seems highly gameplay focused and family oriented.

How refreshing. An actual video game from Sony with fun gameplay. Unfortunately, this game is going to sell like shit because Sony have conditioned Playstation owners into thinking that any game that's not a cinematic third person movie game with double-chin female npc's and photo-realistic toilets is not worth your time. The damage is done and Sony execs should be sentenced for war crimes.
Don't worry this will be a big hit especially in Japan but everywhere else.Minimum 4 millions sold.

Question is can it beat Mario scores. Some people got me a bit wrong, I don't see anything bad in copying market leader(if done right), but when you are all so enthusiastic about Astro bot like a second coming, it would be sensible to mention leader in this genre and don't ignore the fact that game, probably better one is on the market for couple of years now.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission scored 90 on Metacritic, and that on a niche system which reviewers literally destroyed most games on it with bad reviews. I don't see it getting a 97 like Odyssey, but I can definitely see a low 90s score, which would make it the best reviewed non Nintendo 3D platformer since....well Astro Bot Rescue Mission

That is not fair to expect that because Mario games gets on top of their quality a minimum 10 points for nostalgia because everyone who is a gamer especially an older one grew up with Mario.

For sure, I really hope this does well. I want more of these types of games from Sony! Brings me back to the Ps1/Ps2 days.

I would agree with you but again, look at Odyssei, is barely a plataform game ( at least imo ) and it has barely any real challenge to it and yet sits at 97 on MC, again, dont get me wrong, is a good game and that's it, nothing amazing about it, 90% of the moons are so easy to get that sometimes i was just getting bored at groundpounding the floor or lifting stones to find the most annoying ones.

Just look at Sand Kingdom

Walking1.jpg

aside from 2 ice caves and the "secret rocket stage" u have barely any platform to do it, you want to know how to climb to the top of that structure ? just turn into a bullet bill and thats is for 90% of the game.

Like i said if Playroom was a Mario game it would be siting at 90+ easy.
I disagree. SMO is under the Collectathon category of platformers(basically like Banjo Kazooie) and does all those puzzles solving, finding how to go from a to b, tight controls and insanely varied level designs so good. No to mention there's lots of legit solid platforming in-between especially with the cappy ability. Hell I even believe it's up there with SMG2 in what it does. Its pure gameplay playground in each kingdom.

Oh wow, didn't know they were infamous for trolling
He made entire thread trying convince people pay to win is good for gaming industry.

Yeah same here! I'm no fan of their story-focused games and the few I like I want to play on PC now, where everything is delayed so they've got me cranky and essentially pushed me away from the platform.
But this is my type of game! System seller from my perspective. Looks like how I imagine a Nintendo game would look on better hardware.

Actually, porting stuff with tons of 'PlayStation DNA' seems very well in line with their stated plans of converting some PC gamers into PlayStation purchasers using PS games. That's more reason for a port, even.

The Dualsense requirement is the key blocker here

He clearly din't play Astro's playroom, it's full of soul and nostalgia!
The first time I played Astrobot rescue mission made me feel like a kid again. I lost that feeling of wonder and that game gave it back to me. I was constantly smiling all the way through which is something I realised I do not do when playing any game these days, it has buckets of charm. Mario games have not done that for me since the N64 days.

I miss when Playstation had multiple 1st party games like this in their library.

Hopefully Sony gets the message and greenlights more AA games in this vein.
Well, besides Astro Bot there's also the Lego Horizon game, which imo looks cool as well. So there's definitely the desire among some of the 1st party studios to release games that prioritize fun gameplay.

If people support these games and buy them, I'm sure we'll see more in the future. If not from 1st party studios, perhaps through their 2nd and/or 3rd party programs, as they did a few years back with Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which was developed by Sumo Digital and also more recently with Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade.

Edit: Totally forgot about Housemarque and Returnal which imo was the most unique 1st party release from Sony this gen. Really looking forward to their next game.

No idea how someone can look at this footage and say soulless. Also pretty sure Mario Galaxy actually inspired by some elements Ratchet&Clank had already with planetoid platforming and multi stage boss fights
Looks like every platformer I've ever seen from 1996 - 2006 only with off brand Mario world/characters. Completely devoid of creativity and innovation.

Just funny when people say this for certain games but not others when it's just as valid.
