On average, according to the material we were given, male teenagers masturbate two-to-five times daily, and adult males masturbate once daily or less.

I'm the only person my age that I know doesn't wank very often. One of my friends claimed to do it 6 times a day, everyday, for close to two years. He said that last year.

In the end, I answered that the decision to talk with your son about masturbation should really depend more on the maturity level of the child in question, and not necessarily his age. Not all kids grow up, both physically and mentally, at the same rate; some kids might be ready to discuss masturbation in their pre-teen years, and some might not be ready for that conversation until puberty has really kicked in. But even as a general rule, 8 years old seems too young; it might be a more appropriate subject with kids 10 or older. Unless, of course, you actually catch your 8 year-old trying to masturbate. Then it's time to talk regardless of age.
