I remember threads where people there were complaints that deals were drying up or the offers were way lower than they used to be. I remember a thread where a 'developer' gave his opinion that it was devaluing games etc. I remember some threads about developers abandoning xbox completely because they couldn't get developer kits and couldn't get anyone from xbox to answer them.
I dont recall any threads where a developer said they regretted taking a gamepass deal.

Anecdotally, games that are in Game Pass can expect to lose around 80% of its expected premium sales on Xbox. That's the figure that gets thrown around. It's less if it's a big mainstream release, but generally… look at how low Hellblade 2 charted. Or where Indiana Jones came. Or even Starfield. Game Pass clearly hurt sales of those titles on Xbox.

But… if it's a game on multiple platforms, it can be beneficial. That surge in players on one Xbox can have a strong impact on sales on PlayStation, for instance.

Some beneficial, others, not so much. As I said, it's not all roses and sunshine, it's a gamble and/or to what fills each one's needs.

I'm not saying its all roses and sunshine. But even in the most negative of those - the developers aren't saying they regret making a gamepass deal. They may wish that gamepass didnt exist, or they may have lost sales (but presumably not revenue overall) due to a game being on gamepass - but none say they would have done things different and been better off given the current state of Xbox software sales.
90% of the games discussed are MS first party which have a completely different and opaque, to us, set of metrics for determining success.

A really interesting game that I need to wrap up at some point. I enjoyed the approach to more open areas and lack of waypoint markers. Exploration feels organic and the locations are interesting. I'd like to see more engaging combat and better stealth mechanics going forward though.
Agree. It's a gorgeous game (even if it's not that technically impressive, the overall art direction is great) and eschews a lot of modern gaming tropes. I also love that it's comfortable in its 15-20 hour length and there's very little filler. Solid 8/10 experience for me.
