Killing off the W&H LA branch (AWESOME ep BTW), raining fire and blocking out the sun, Angelus, killing Lilah, EVIL BITCH CORDY, Faith vs. Angelus... I never thought this season would be so huge in scope. All of this is awesome, and I'm leaving out awesome stuff.

BUT WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH ROTTING ZOMBIE SAVIOR?! I just finished watching the "Shiny Happy People" (or is it "Happy Shiny People"?) ep and I'M SCARED YO! This episode creeped me the fuck out. THE WHOLE EPISODE I HAD GOOSEBUMPS. What the fuck is going on...

*runs off to watch next ep*

If my thread offends you ya need to get out more often. :p

Finished season 4. Have mixed feelings about it. Don't get me wrong, I think it may be the best season yet (haven't seen season 5, have to wait till February... *grrr*), but there are some things I would have changed about it.

I really think it was a little too ambitious for its own good. So many things happened... the plot kept changing focus so dramatically throughout the season. There were a couple of ideas in there they could have dedicated entire seasons to. The moment something starts getting cool, *BAM*, that's gone, and now there's something new happening. Each new thing that happens is dependant on the last thing, yeah, so it does actually make sense. But still, it was a little disorienting.

Jasmine was kinda the last straw with that. It was a great 5 or so episode run (with some of the creepiest moments I've seen on television), but it would have worked better if the transition wasn't so jarring. I do get that the huge change of pace was intentional, but I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting.

Cordy is now in a coma. Connor is living with a normal family and a different set of memories. And AI headquarters is W&H. Weird. I wonder how the Cordy and Connor thing is going to work out it season 5.

I started watching season 2 again. Man, I miss when the characters had a touch of goofiness to them. All of them are too serious now. They're a broody bunch and that needs to change!

Season 1 => too goofy
Season 2 => perfect mix of the serious and goofy
Season 3 => very minor goofy, lots o' drama
Season 4 => entirely drama

Is season 4 generally considered to be the best one? Despite my complaints, it is very awesome. I'm going to have trouble deciding between 2 and 4, and I'll have to watch 4 again before really making a call either way.

jasmine was a terrible write-in way to give the firefly cast some work. i'm pretty partial to s5 and s1 personally.

also, ANGEL THE SERIES

Jasmine was awesome. I thought it was extremely clever to turn around the whole big bad thing and give us a big good. And fart can fuck off back to his precious season 1, how anyone can be partial to that over other Angel seasons is beyond me. Season 5 is awesome though.

There was goofiness in season 4. Not as much as in the past, sure, but unless you want some sort of magic spell where the cast lose their memories and revert back to their old selves, it's not going to happen.

Incidentally, don't give the Angel writers crap about Jasmine, blame Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant and ruining the storyline they'd set up.

Um... wasn't that ... oh never mind, wrong season. Or was it?

Out of curiosity, what was the orignal story line suppose to be about?

Oh come on, do you think i could write something so close accidentaly? And it was season 4.

I'll admit, Cordelia was hottest back then. And when Wesley turned up, it got better. I just find the other seasons so much better than the first, rather than the first doing that much wrong (I didn't think it did the monster of the week thing overly well though).

What's wrong with Gunn?

One thing I particularly liked about Angel S5 was
the way the writers played with you about the big bad. Angel's never really gone in for that sort of thing, unlike Buffy, which I think is great. So when they kept setting things up, i kept getting worried that they were doing and then they didn't. First you wonder if Gunn is going to be, especially after what happens at the end of S4. Then you think maybe Eve will be, in passing at least. Then...oh, it MUST be Lindsey. Then Illyria arrives, and it's GOT to be Illyria. It was pretty clever how they kept sending these characters in different directions to what you expect. EDIT: Oops, forgot Angel potentially being the big bad too

Out of curiosity, what was the orignal story line suppose to be about?

I'm not sure, but I know Cordelia was the big bad as they speak about it on the DVD. Frankly, I think the Jasmine plot's a hell of a lot more inventive, though we don't know the details of the other one so we'll never know.

This was me riffing off your funny but then not being sure what season it was in. Unless.

I can see how someone would prefer season 1. It's very different from the other seasons. I've actually read reviews on amazon.com that say they were disappointed with season 2 because it wasn't so campy like the first.

I myself like seasons 2 and 4. 3 is also triple A material, but isn't quite as good. I'd give season 1 4 out of 5 stars... the only less than stellar season I've seen.

So, MamaSmurf, my dream will come true then? Yeah! But Angel will know the truth... he's always been broody anyway.

Why is it called "AtS"?

"Angel the show"? That doesn't sound right.

"Ats" is three letters and sounds stupid, "Angel" is 5 and makes perfect sense. That's crazy

Angel the Series

Not that I'm defending it, as it only ever gets called that in acronym form, and is almost certainly the result of some acronym adicted geek who was jealous buffy fans had BtVS.

But that's what it stands for as far as I know.

Should be Angel in the Big City if you ask me. AitBC.

Fuck, people. The acronym was created to avoid confusion with Angel the CHARACTER and Angel THE SHOW. Duh. It makes sense; no jealous Angel fanboy conspiracies needed. Don't get so bent out of shape about it.

ATS made sense back before the show came out and when it was brand new.

I like season 1 a lot just because I'm a huge fan of monster-of-the-week episodes and goofy Wes.

The best thing about the Jasmine arc is how it all ends in Home. I love how they spend all that time fighting for free will and Angel sells them out. By giving Connor that new life without him knowing and taking everyone's memories he's done exactly what he was fighting Jasmine for. Yet you can totally see where he's coming from. It's complete shades of grey.

And of course if you search for "Angel" when looking for stuff on the show, you get a hell of a lot of results. So AtS caught on.

So, MamaSmurf, my dream will come true then?

Yes. Assuming you dreamed of me replying to you in complete confusion as to what you're talking about.

I said I wanted AI to stop being so broody. Then you said that unless some spell wipes out their memories it isn't going to happen... something wiped out the AI team's memory at the end of season 4... so I took your post as an underhanded way of saying I'm going to get what I want.

Think people. :p

I'm just amazed at how easy some people throw "fanboy" around, that's all.

Honest to god...there was an episode in the season you just finished watching called Spin The bottle where this exact thing happened. When they were trying to restore Cordelia's memories. Remember?

And it happened again at the end of season 4. The episode was called "Home". Remember? :p
