Have a look for a 2nd hand one? Depending where you are based, you could look on hifi forums, as people seem to upgrade a lot so you can sometimes get a bargain.I saw those. But chromecast audio use to be like 20. I think they would do what I want. Just price issues. And I know you get what you pay for in the audio world.
How you wanting to play music? Stream from a phone or device or have it connect to a service (e.g. Spotify) and you just control with phone? If its the latter you could get a raspberry pi with LMS on it, as this allows for streaming services (normally need paid subscription though). If you have a load of digital music stored local, will also manage that for you.
