For those wondering why I keep praising MMA/UFC, it's because it has similar hilarious stories of fuckups as wrestling

For example, this is now at least the third big plan the UFC has had (at least a hand in) that Conor has fucked up this year alone

The best part? He's still not Jon Jones level of fuck up.
It's the gift that keeps on giving.

All the charismatic fuck ups are in MMA while all the pro wrestling people are too busy posting wacky things on Instagram or appearing on YT video game things to do blow or have sex with questionable women.

Canadian Destroyer isn't banned though.

It should be banned for being a stupid move.

I'm trying to brace myself for the fact Finn's probably gonna wear that dumb as fuck headdress at Summerslam.

I hate that fucking thing.

Your last thought , who is that about?

My point is, as much of a problem they are, the charismatic fuck ups are who actually appeal to the casual human being. The issue with the WWE currently is that outside of Lesnar, there's nobody who has any aura of danger about them.

Meanwhile, even in the cartoon world of the mid-80's WWF, there were folks like Savage, Roberts, Piper who exuded their insanity even through the very glossy camera of the WWF.

Living that lifestyle worked out super great for those guys.

I'm still seeing people getting worked into believing Eva Marie actually hurt herself.

Remember Trevor Murdoch in general?

Amen to that.
I kind of liked Trevor until I read JTG's book

Damnit!

But yeah, you have a point. My problem with a lot of the guys is that they're just regular guys with no gimmmicks, nothing appealing about them with the exception of Bray. As much as people got tired of the cartoony shit, some of it was great, at least you could distinguish the talent.

Eh. To quote Orson Welles in The Third Man, "in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Haven't read that but have heard of a few stories of it and never heard anything on Murdoch, what did he say on him?

As much as I hated the idea of cryme tyme, they tried to sabotage them, get rid of them by any means. They had this thing almost like, "they don't belong here." Talks of breaking their legs for not sellimg, just little shit.

My response to both is essentially: That didn't stop since those people left, there are still people who are that reckless or stupid, it just either is kept quieter post-Benoit (my guess is it's this), or an actual noticeable amount of people used that tragedy to better at least some aspect of themselves. But there's always going to be examples of Iron Sheik or New Jack or Teddy Hart, even if not as extreme as those particular individuals; as long as the business doesn't actively prevent it, horrible caricatures and representations and individuals will be there living that life without regret. And the problem is I don't see the business ever actively preventing it.

Cade and Murdoch had legit heat with Cryme Time, and were a contributing factor to them getting fired.

I remember when they just stopped appearing back in later 2007. Only to come back months later. Before reading a little about it, I thought Cryme Tyme were sent somewhere.

I never knew I could live in a world where Cade and Murdoch had some pull.

Not so much pull, lol. During a house show, Cade and Murdoch lied to the ref and told them the finish changed and they were going over. So they do a dirty finish and jet from the ring. Cryme Time is naturally pissed, so they do their team finisher on the ref. JTG has gone on record to admitting it was a bad call, and even tried to plead his case to JR (who IIRC was Talent Relations at the time), but it didn't matter and they were canned.

They eventually ended up bringing Cryme Time back though, which made me happy as fuck because Cade and Murdoch were fucking terrible.

Eh, even people who have no reason to spout the WWE line on things do say the locker room is much different than it was even 10 years ago and I think a large part of that is now, there's really nobody with a connection to the wild past of wrestling.

Everybody in the company today outside of Lesnar under 40 are largely just wrestling nerds who happened to have good genetics. Now, that's a good thing for WWE PR, their long term health, but it also probably means there's less chance of breakout characters.

After all, if you're just a boring guy or gal who likes wrestling and spends most of your days posting on Twitter and eating protein shakes, you turned up to 11 is still going to be pretty boring.

Wait I'm not following. They got canned for doing their finisher on the ref?

Unforgiven 2005 was basically the story of Ric Flair winning a match and having sex with 4 women in his limo throughout the entire PPV.

I gotta watch more mid 2000's PPV's. I didn't know what I was missing.

Well...
During a pivotal point in the match, I was knocked to the outside of the ring. I was to play dead on the outside of the ring for a while, then make it back in just in time just before the referee counted to eight- as we had done countless times before with these opponents. On this particular night, however, Cade and Murdock decided to fuck with us. Unbeknownst to us, they instructed the referee to speed up the count so that I would be disqualified. When the ref counted me out, I was confused. I knew I rolled back in on the 8 count. What the hell just happened?

I laid on the apron and heard Shad yelling to the ref, "I saw that! That's bullshit!" Lance and Trevor were walking up the aisle, laughing, pointing at us, and yelling "Stupid! You two dummies."

Shad was furious. And thanks to Cade and Murdock's hilarious prank, the crowd was not entertained. Instead, they were confused and angry, and a large number of the people were chanting "Bull-shit! Bull-shit!"
Shad got rough with the ref, and hit the signal for JTG to do the team finisher.
On our way to Ohio for Monday Night Raw, Shad got a call from the Head of Talent Relations. He spoke to him very briefly, then quickly handed me the phone. As he spoke with me, I could tell the tone in his voice was a mixture of anger and disappointment.

"Tell me what happened out there. Why didn't you stop and control Shad? You know better." I thought to myself, Control Shad? Shad is a grown-ass, six foot seven man. I was at a loss for words. "We're going to have a meeting in the morning. Come see me in my office when you get to the arena." My immediate thought was "This is going to be one hell of a fine." Nothing could've prepared me for the reality of what would actually go down.

The next day at RAW, we were called into the meeting. As we sat down, I started thinking, How much this time? Five thousand? Ten thousand? Twenty thousand? The meeting opened with the Head of Talent Relations telling us that he was extremely disappointed in us. "I put my neck on the line to get you guys up here. I believed in you two. The crowd loved you two. You both were doing so well. I'm sorry to tell you guys, but I'm gonna have to let you go."

Get pumped for CWC round 2 in this year of great tournaments:

Akira Tozawa vs. Jack Gallagher
Tajiri vs. Gran Metalik
Drew Gulak vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Noam Dar vs. Ho Ho Lun
Brian Kendrick vs. Tony Nese
Kota Ibushi vs. Cedric Alexander
T.J. Perkins vs. Johnny Gargano
Lince Dorado vs. Rich Swann

Aiii

So not worth it
Meltzer is saying all the wrestlers are legit pissed at Conor's tweet and that UFC/WWE had an actual plan going forward that might be in jeopardy now lol

Conor The Best

I'm sure UFC is very sad they don't have to borrow Rousey to WWE now because Conor said something Conor says about every UFC fighter ever.

This has to be the most Meltzer thing Meltzer has said in months.

Is Baron Corbin the most hair folliclly cursed wrestler of all time? Can't grow a beard to save his life, has a hairline that rivals modern day Hulk Hogan, its just sad. Sad.

What is the best main event of mania history?

Main event in this case means the last match on the card so no Austin Bret and no Macho Flair for example...

Is it really mania 14? Austin coming off a broken neck and HBK a drug addict with a broken back...

1. WM 17 - Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock (No DQ)
2. WM 20 - Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. ***** ******
3. WM 12 - Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels (Iron Man Match)
4. WM 5 - Hulk Hogan vs. Macho Man Randy Savage
5. WM 30 - Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan
6. WM 6 - Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior
7. WM 19 - Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar
8. WM 26 - The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (Streak vs. Career)
9. WM 14 - Shawn Michaels vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
10. WM 23 - John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels

That's a whole lot of Shawn Michaels.

10 moves banned by the wwe:

10: Chair shot to the head
9: Piledriver
8: Curb stomp
7: Canadian destroyer
6: Kinniku buster
5: Victory Star Drop
4: Dragon screw neck whip
3: Diving headbutt
2: Top rope big boot
1: Burning Hammer

Isn't the Kinniku Buster the Mustle Buster? That hasn't been banned since the last TakeOver has it? I'm still catching up with NXT.

Kinniku buster is the same but instead of Joe dropping on his back he'd drop flat down on his ass => the impact of the move would be on the neck of the dude taking it. I couldn't find any video of someone actually doing that (aside from videogames...) but I do think it was a thing in Japan at some point.

Holy shit, why did I look at the comments on WWE.com articles?

You see people in there occasionally making posts that try to adhere to some sort of kayfabe. You know because they're not 5 years old, they know it's a work and they're just trying to keep it on the level or maybe they're a little ignorant which is good in the world of pro wrestling

and every other comment and replies to them are UM YOU KNOW THIS IS A WORK RIGHT? UM ITS PART OF AN ANGLE GOSH
