August Wrasslin' |OT| Make a.. make a good...uh...a good wrestling thread

I need to watch more Japanese wrestling. I'm in the middle of Okada vs. Takahashi from Invasion Attack and this shit is incredible. Great psychology.

Kinniku buster is the same but instead of Joe dropping on his back he'd drop flat down on his ass => the impact of the move would be on the neck of the dude taking it. I couldn't find any video of someone actually doing that (aside from videogames...) but I do think it was a thing in Japan at some point.

I see I see. Yeah that would hurt.

Is Baron Corbin the most hair folliclly cursed wrestler of all time? Can't grow a beard to save his life, has a hairline that rivals modern day Hulk Hogan, its just sad. Sad.

If he plays his cards right he can use that. He should never shave his hair. Keep this dirty look.

Aiii

So not worth it
If the Piledriver's banned, it could explain why Taker's only on 1 show a year. Not really, but still.

That would actually be a great way to explain why Taker just disappears after Mania. Just have Stephanie continuously warn him before Mania that the Tombstone is banned and he is not to use it. And then the underdog can keep kicking out of his pin attempts and submissions until he has no choice and hit the tombstone. The pop would be huge and then Steph can ban him from competing for a year and he can go back to where-ever it is Mean Mark goes when he's not doing wrestling.

Holy shit, this is surprisingly show of the year for 1997 so far.

It had all the hallmarks of a PPV that I would hate on paper. Short card, only 4 matches, the title isn't the main event feud, and the main event feud is a ten man tag. I've never been a fan of multi man tags main eventing PPVs but this show did it right. In fact, all four matches are must see. You have Mankind vs Triple H which is a white hot feud at this point, you have the debut of Taka Michinoku and The Great Sasuke in the light heavyweight division, you have the continuation of the Undertaker and Paul Bearer feud with Taker defending his belt against Vader and that ten man tag. The Hart Foundation is firing on all cylinders. While I wasn't as big of a fan the first time I saw them, this re-watch has me convinced they are up there with some of the greatest heel factions ever. And the other team is perfect, everyone has a reason for being there. It normally feels like they throw together tag team main events at the last minute, but this one has some thought to it. And that crowd....quite a different reaction from the norm. Bret Hart had turned on his fans in America, but his Canadian fans still cheered him like never before and they even boo'd Stone Cold Steve Austin which never happens elsewhere at this point. Ever since this PPV, Canada has been an odd crowd and this show explains that. Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to Summerslam 1997 more than Summerslam 2016?

What is the best main event of mania history?

Main event in this case means the last match on the card so no Austin Bret and no Macho Flair for example...

Is it really mania 14? Austin coming off a broken neck and HBK a drug addict with a broken back...
Top three for me so far: Hogan/Warrior (VI), Hart/Michaels (XII), and Austin/Michaels (XIV).

So can anyone enlighten me as to why badd ass billy gunn was punished for doping but brock will not be?

Brock is not subject to the same rules due to his contractual status.

Luigi's Mansion #Sucks
Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?

Isn't the Kinniku Buster the Mustle Buster? That hasn't been banned since the last TakeOver has it? I'm still catching up with NXT.
Not quite, same setup but muscle buster you fall back while the kinniku buster is a sit down stunner type thing that basically shatters your neck.

Didn't Owens and Cena bust out a Canadian Destroyer during one of their matches?
Cena's Yoshi tonic or whatever right?

Monday night is always the night, unless you need people explicitly saying it via the medium of terrible music talking about hype crowds. Everybody get down.

Tonight is the night.

My point is, as much of a problem they are, the charismatic fuck ups are who actually appeal to the casual human being.

Complicated people and redemption stories are nice, but bad decision-making is not a must for me to be interested in someone. Seems kinda messed up to be rooting for that to be celebrated outside of fiction.

Sport is defined by competition not athleticism.

Sorry to be the burden of bad news.

Aw, man. Reviews for No Man's Sky don't hit until late tonight? Lame. Very interested in the reception for that one.

Huge patch just hit today that made pretty drastic changes to the game. It's why there aren't reviews hitting yet despite a rushed one that was posted in the review thread.
