Huh. I think Dean is boring as hell in the ring but that interview with stone cold was pretty good. Here's how I know it was good: about 5 or 6 times during the Lesnar interview, I thought 'wait, why am i watching this boring guy talk again?' and I never even thought to ask that until I realised it was almost over, listening to Dean talk.
Yeah he does a lot of uhs and stares away from eye contact constantly, the guy is clearly trying to 'put up a wall' like stone cold quickly said (and didn't get a response to), but dean does have a certain piece of shit charisma about him nonetheless.
The tension with steve trying to get various answers out of him, and failing, was entertaining to watch. Seems like good old stone cold thought this podcast was going badly at many points, but I thought it went really well.
I skipped the first few mins about his childhood cos I'd heard dean wasn't comfortable with those q's from posts, so I figure it's none of my business, and I skipped the last 2-3 mins exactly when stone cold says 'i'm gonna issue a challenge to ya' - cos I'm not watching a promo after those last few very interesting minutes. That tone-deafness is on stone cold for agreeing to whatever creative told him to do ("the bit with lesnar was good, do it again no matter what this time!") So that probably helps with my overall positive impression of this interview, but I think Dean comes across as a guy who is probably actually pretty boring, and knows it, so he hides it with some bluster, and that's interesting. He also has moments of lucidity throughout which reveal he knows what he is doing.
Didn't seem like a champion? Seemed nervous or something? Pfft. He seemed like a weirdo. That's exactly what you want out of champion - a guy who isn't like the guys before him.
Good program overall.
Dean's still shit in the ring though.
