Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
The appeals process, 10 yr wait, etc aren't cheaper.

The injection and bringing in 10 people to see him die is fairly cheap. In these cases where guilt is obvious to me it's justifiable to put them to death.

If you want to study insanity there are ample amounts of the mentally ill to study.

Except we dont just suspend the law for someone so we can kill them quicker because killing someone shouldnt be treated lightly by the state or anyone else. So saying its cheaper if we just ignore all this shit isnt convincing.

Listen, I had a psychology class back in high school. I'm pretty sure I can diagnose people with mental disorders over the internet.

Its extra hilarious because it isnt even a psych term outside of shitty TV shows. Insanity is strictly a lay and legal term. And the legal definition is much more strict than the lay term which just seems to be thrown around with no thought.

I went to see the midnight showing of the show and I remember hearing the news and it was like a nightmare. I couldn't imagine something like this happening. I still have a heavy feeling for the events that took place.

We shouldn't suspend anything, give them the same options just speed up the process 10 fold for priority cases where acts of extreme violence was done.

In this type of case the end result would never change, exactly the same way other high profile cases of obvious guilt are.

Insane or not, there is no excuse for what he did. It's simply not acceptable. Hopefully he is put down sooner rather than later.

"oh, well he's actually insane." "oh, well actually he was sleepwalking." "he was acting." You think those victims give a shit?

The odd nutjob going on a small shooting spree makes me sad. Seeing threads full of otherwise-reasonable people crying for more blood in the name of "justice" makes me sick.

Hurting this guy won't fix anything. He can't hurt anyone any more.
deterrence, brah.

Doesnt seem to work based on the information I've read. Thats one of the biggest mark against capital punishment.

I've been watching this live for a few hours. I find the court process very interesting.

Why is this trial (and a few others) available to the public to watch when other trials aren't even allowed to have photographs taken (they use court sketch artists)?

Applying the concept of deterrence when it comes to crimes committed by the mentally ill is, ironically, insane.

The death penalty is wrong in all circumstances, no exceptions.

Death is an escape, convicted criminals of the magnitude we see in this guy, Manson, Durst, the Boston kid, etc should not be given an escape. Plus it's much more expensive than life in prison.

I have a friend on facebook who began a steady descent into madness a few years ago and is posting these weird links about how this (along with almost every other recent mass shooting) is a false flag operation orchestrated by the government.

what is the reasoning behind this argument in this case?

Because the reality of terrorism is a little too much for them to understand. Why did James Holmes do this? We'll probably never actually know.

Also, gubment want take der guns. Jade Helm, bro.

Huh, I didn't realize this wasn't' allowed. So, what happens? Do they replace the jurors or what?
Yeah you're not supposed to discuss the case with anyone until deliberations, and even then, you can't discuss it unless everyone is present at the same time. So if someone has to take a bathroom break, you can't discuss it while they're gone.

Can we just send hm to jail forever and take the millions of dollars we save on court trials, and retrials and other crap and just give it to the families of the murdered victims?

Does it matter if he dies or spends the rest of life in jail?

Defense tried to plea bargain to life and prison. Prosecution said no.

I support Colorado death penalty. We use it very rarely. But we also have a spineless Governor who won't allow anyone to be executed on his watch (he won't commute the sentence, he'll just deals it so the next guy can deal with it). I don't see why they didn't take the deal with the current political climate.
