AusGAF 3.0 - Double the price, region locked and refused classification

There are already online shops (Mariio128, which seems to be reputable) selling LA Noire for under $50. Not tempting (it's an Asian copy, which I'm always wary of with PS3 games) but looks like it'll price bomba everywhere else fairly quickly.

Edit: Dead Rising 2 is only $17 for consoles. You peeps should get on that.

I think it will hold it's value if it sells as well as RDR, especially while the great reviews are coming in and advertising is everywhere. Eventually OzGameShop will have it under $40 but I would expect to have to wait 2 months. Has anyone used that Mariio128 site before? Postage is $6 and paypal only.

Edit: If it does drop I'm looking forward to Wario64's Bomba thread. Always a few defensive gaffers who don't get the joke.

I'm growing tired of Jintor's bragging about games that aren't released and meeting people we know are cool.

If you give a massive information link a la "Modern Warfare 3" (I don't believe for a second this was a leak), all will be forgiven.

Some of what she says is certainly true, and it is very well written. I particularly enjoy this:

That moment provides an important reminder: pornography, at its core, is a market transaction in which women's bodies and sexuality are offered to male consumers in the interests of maximising profit. In the end, it's about attracting the most "wankers" possible.

Entirely correct.

However, she turns into a bit of a raving loon as the article continues. Men imagining porn scenes in order to orgasm while having sex with women? Really? On the contrary, I think most men are imagining terrible scenes in order to stop.

At least she's able to identify what porn is for. Even though it is like saying, "super hero comics feature super heroes doing super hero type things to maximise profits by selling these comics to people who like super hero comics".

Very heterocentric though. I'm not about to Google "size of homosexual pornography market" while at work, but I'm sure it's there. She's taking a bit of an us vs them stance.

FFS Steam. 7gb Telstra cap ran out so I marathon downloaded TF2. Got to 88% and I shut the computer down. Turned it on today and its decided to delete all progress and go back to 0%. Does anyone want to send me the files via DVD? I will pay for discs+postage and could send someone files for other steam games (Crysis, L4D2, Orange Box)

Men watching heterosexual pornography are also being offered male sexuality, so to speak - even if it is a caricature of dominance. And pornography, at its core, is also a business in which male talent is negligibly recognised and poorly remunerated.

It's actually at 88% still, even though the progress counter has started over it should be technically counting from 88 - 100 even though the scale is 0 - 100

Except she misses that lots of women and gay men also consume porn.

If you're with telstra, shouldn't the free traffic server be of use?

Certainly. From that perspective (men paying for hetero porn) her point is accurate, which is what I was alluding to.

She does not address the fact that women and gay men enjoy porn, nor the fact that most people don't pay for it either. So the majority of the hetero market aren't even within her scope of argument. For instance, you'd imagine the bulk of the men who attend sexpos and ogle the women are in fact wanking consumers.

Well, the girls are usually referred to as "the talent" in this regard. You're hardly having a shortage of dudes lining up to do the job. Yes it is different when you're surrounded by people and the camera is rolling, but this doesn't change this previous fact.

This, in reference to gonzo porn, strikes me as largely false, too.
Uhh, I don't know what sort of gonzo porn you watch, but in the ones I look at, the girls are at least pretending to like it. Brooke Banner and Allie Sin being exceptions to the rule.

2 girls asked about it, saying "is it a geek/nerd thing?" but not in a mean way.

The 3 guys that I know are gamers have all been busy working and I haven't seen them today.

Ordered it on April 30th, it left their warehouses on May 7th and I got it on the 16th. Pretty good imo.

What is defined as Gonzo porn? I assumed it was weird stuff like Gonzo art but safe google search tends to point to it being POV or storyless porn scenes. To be honest I'm not much of a connoisseur, more of an impulse shopper.

Gonzo porn is just porn without a story, straight to the fucking.

I rock this one a lot:

You just need to be proud to be a nerd. Of course, being told on a regular basis I look like a bikie, it probably helps if I wear silly t-shirts.

My games lecturer wears a different gaming shirt every time I see him. It's nice to spot references.

Today was the second time I've worn my portal 2 three turrets shirt. I can't decide if it's so bad it's good, if it's just bad and I'm wearing it ironically, or if I'm wearing it because it's a clean shirt.

Or because it has the video games on it.

PC incoming. This is what I have bought (albeit with a different case).

Do I need to buy any cables (I know the issue of cables generally produces lulz, but take me seriously) ?

Ebay has a few okay ones. This dude created one like Shaneus was talking about.

As all porn should be. Well, except big budget b-movies like that Pirates one or the awesome looking Star Trek one. If porn has a story it should be awesomely funny like those.

It took us just a shade over a month to burn through 5,000 posts. I blame reptilescorpio and his multiquote giant walls of text.

I have literally zero minutes to play LA Noire over the next 5 days. Who wants to trade lives? Our coffee robot makes a pretty good hot chocolate, so if we do a life swap, you'll be rockin' that.

I think generally they're pretty cool. Unfortunately there's a fine line better clever and just kind of cringey.
Thinking of getting this for my man's b'day, but I haven't figured out which category it falls into yet...
2d1k32r.jpg

I also like the tee that says "NPC" on it :p

I only ever bother with game-related shirts if it's subtle and not obvious what it refers to unless you know said game well. Also, logos on the back which point out the game the aforementioned subtle shirt refers to are total dealbreakers. Actually I don't think I have any game shirts any more... huh.

I buy 90% of my shirts from Threadless on sale nowadays. Under $15 a shirt? How can I lose?

Looks like, and his name if from a Jim Jarmusch film starring Johhny Depp. I wouldn't be too afraid of him :)

Hey! The multiquotes cut down on posts, if I replied separately we would be up to AusGaf 21.24 by now. I have saved the internets valuable space (to use for streaming porn).
I don't even have enough time for TW2, let alone LA. I can remember back to my salad days as a rambunctious 20-something, spending my days playing videogames on the tax payers dime, eating week old pizzas and getting smashed. Ah, those were the days of our lives. So many completed games. So many gamerscore points.

Also shirts need to be vague, most of my gaming and music shirts that I wear could be regarded as just cool art rather than needing to know a reference.

I will be the ausgaffer who plays L.A Noire in 6 months time, Turns around and says it wasn't all that good. Way too linear for what it should have been and it has no replay value. It was so so.

That's when i will play L.A Noire!

But your shirts are fine. It's the meme-like shirts that I can't stand.

Dead Man is a brave man lol

But what about meme-shirt monday? How else are you meant to celebrate it?

Was that your reaction to Portal 2? What are the most impressive games for this generation for you?

I wll play L.A. Noire when it becomes retro, and then draw a comic about it, and become a millionaire webcomic artist guy.
Is Deus Ex old enough to be considered retro yet? I would love a Deus Ex retro comic. Plenty of material to choose from.

There's also plenty of non-meme stuff if you want to actually be funny ><
