C7 z06. 2.95 secs to 60. 10.95 quarter.

Fuck. Me.

At 127MPH. Don't ever leave out trap speed, son.

The King Slayer has returned.

I bet mags and owners will be running 130MPH traps. And owners will have this motor churning out 800WHP within the first month of availability.

Yeah but dat FRS at #3. Add the BRZ, and the car is easily #1.

So basically, a huge portion of owners of the GT86 and WRX/STi in the US are young hooning idiots.

The percentages are the portion of the pool of people requesting quotes for those models that had a ticket - the figure for all GT86 pattern cars would be between the FR-S and BR-Z numbers (e.g.: 32.6% of 1000 FR-S + 22% of 1000 BRZ = 27.3% of the combined group)

Good point. Damn BR-Z owners being more careful helped dilute the number down a bit.

I don't understand how the Mercury Topaz made it there, though. My first car was its twin the Ford Tempo a 93...and it was a lethargic car with an engine that was too scared of itself.

Someone said some people with shitty cars drive them like they stole them because they just don't care. I'm inclined to agree with that.

Likely small sample sizes - Autoblog seems to agree.

To make it onto the list, a vehicle needed over 50 quotes

In the case of the Topaz, there can't be that many left on the road, while niche cars like the BRZ, FR-S, etc. have never sold in large quantities, so it only takes a handful of respondents to really skew the numbers for a 50-unit sample.

I hadn't even been to AB today, but that's a solid clarification. I'd imagine the Topaz's that are alive are probably being stopped for safety issues, such as headlights out, broken or missing mirrors, brake lights, turn signals not functioning, etc. Lord knows my Tempo used to have all of those issues (except the mirrors, they were fine), down to the horn not functioning.

those cars have to be the worst american cars made, (that people still drive)

They are pieces of unadulterated, unfiltered, unpurified shit.

I was only 17 1/2 and I felt like the very ability of having a car would be great. But when I got behind the wheel of the Tempo it struck the fear of God in me. It was such a piece of shit. And at the time it was only 9 years old with 60K miles on it. Utter trash. I was so scared of driving it after a few months, I started complaining to my dad I didn't want the car as a hand me down - even if it was free. I'd rather drive the Maxima and pay for it. Shortly after the Tempo was sold and I was driving my dad's Maxima.

Eventually I bought the 2001 Maxima from my dad for 15K around the time I turned 19 (in 2004), he later leased an Infiniti FX35. Having a car payment was a shit ton better than having a terrible car, imo.

On drag radials....big difference.

The Z06's numbers are probably fairly conservative where as dodge likes to publish hero runs.

What's scary about that is you know the mags and owners will do better than 2.9, and every second it gains will--as Alpha put it--slay a king: 650S, 911 Turbo, Aventador, Turbo S, etc.

Crazy.

I'm just floored it's that much better than the outgoing ZR1.

edit: Here's a good article about the LT4

So, Miata coming with the 2.0L NA SkyActiv. The Mazda3 variant produces 155hp and 150 lb-ft of torque, but the current Miats makes a bit more than that. Honestly, I'd like them to hit 200 horses with it. If Scooby can do it, so can they.

Lambo Asterion:

Looks fantastic. I guess Lambo felt left out of Porsche/McLaren/Chrysler Fiat Performance DivFerrari's hypercar club.

Is it me or does it remind anyone else of a modern day Miura?

Mmm engine porn.

Speaking of engines, my car is getting a "new" one thanks to some flash flooding and an asshole in a lifted truck with huge tires going 40 in a fucking monsoon. Created a bow of water that slammed the front of my car and went over the hood. She was dead in 10 feet. 25 feet further and I escape the area where water on my section of the road went from 3-4 inches to a foot as I turned from one street to another and there was a slightly lower area.

Once she died we sat there for about 10 mins as cars went by crashing waves in to the drivers side. Sounded like being in a boat. A good guy came by and helped me push her to a side street and very little water got inside thankfully but the carpet is going to be removed and treated.

Compression on the cylinders, 1 at 160 all the others under 35.

Was on a first date (she said that she was a bad omen as the night began!) at the time trying to get back to the data center after leaving a wonderful dinner early due to storms knocking out power and our server room UPS let a bunch of servers bounce. Memorable evening to say the least.

Here she is getting towed to the shop for diagnosis..

fnAbchil.jpg

I haven't had any significant problems with it in 2 years other than my thermostat failing. Found a M54B30 ZHP longblock out of a 2005 with 81000 miles (1k less than mine) for $2850. Going to have all vacuum lines replaced, engine mounts replaced, do the valve cover gasket and swap in a rebuilt VANOS by Dr. Vanos, Oil filter housing gasket will be required as well. Also have a cold weather crankcase ventilation system that can easily be installed. I'm sure I will think of other things and will discuss everything with the guy at the shop once I get the word about insurance OK-ing the engine.

Hope it all works out and it doesn't become a problem vehicle.

Do you have an aftermarket intake or something? The damage your describe sounds like something that happens when a car is completely submerged, not just from a large splash. I've seen cold air intakes with the intake down low suck in water, but stock intakes are usually up high.

It sucks any way you look at it and I hope insurance will cover the repairs.

Nope, no aftermarket intake just awful luck with the truck going by and creating the wave. When my car stopped dead in the water the water level was just below where the doors open with waves from cars going by splashing above that level. Insurance will cover the repairs.

what in particular internally could be ruined by the water to destroy compression? the head gasket?

Wash the rings away?

Usually a hairline fracture in each cylinder is all it takes to lose all compression (we're talking so thin that a light would barely penetrate it). Sounds like Tyler got enough water in there to do so.

ohh the water got in and pressure was built up when the pistons built compression.

That sucks, but sounds like you have a good insurance company. Yet another reason to hate those idiots in their raised trucks.

Hey now...

I'm actually thinking about selling my lifted tundra and getting an sti, kinda nervous about missing the utility of the truck for picking things up that wouldn't fit in a car but I've wanted an sti for like 15 years and I'm finally in a position where I could get one

"Hydrolock" is a first culprit usually when an aftermarket CAI and water are mentioned in the same sentence. Sorry to hear that.

Guys,

I'm trading my 2013 3-series which I bought in May for a 5-series BMW. I like the 3-series quite a bit, but two things are against it: it's a bit too small and it doesn't have xDrive. The first came as a slight surprise as our family of three were quite happy with our A4. The second I thought I could live without, but it's bound to get frosty here in Finland and last week we had slight frosting and I couldn't make it up my garage ramp with the rear driver...

Anyway, my problem is choosing the interior color. Namely, I can't choose between Brown and Black. Beige isn't an option because of the baby and a dog. And me being an overall messy person.

Black is black.Fits everything, but damn if it ain't boring.

Brown is a tad more interesting, but don't those lower dashboard and doors look horrible in brown? Or is it just the photos and it actually looks awesome in real life?

My BMW 335i Coupe had Saddle Brown...it's fucking GORGEOUS in person. It won't get dirty and nothing looks tacky or out of place. Get the brown, dude

The seats and door trim panel look great in brown but the dashboard split makes it look like an aftermarket install.

But like Alpha said, maybe it looks better in person.

Another vote for the Saddle Brown.

BTW, what's the color of your exterior?
Trying to get a feel for the current colors but I'm not too crazy about any of them.

Huh? As I recall, the rumors were that it's like 1000 lbs heavier or something ridiculous and sites have known the car was only around 198 lbs heavier in reality. I don't ever recall the PR saying it's lighter.

I'm pretty sure there was never a rumor it was 1000 lb heavier, which would make it almost weigh the same as an F-150. The latest rumor before release was someone saying it will probably gain ~200 pounds.

Sorry, yeah, I forget the numbers, but the original rumor was that it would be much heavier. When the numbers came out, everyone realized it wasn't that bad. I don't ever remember Ford saying its lighter.

It was nowhere near 1000lbs. That'd simply destroy the whole car overnight. It'd be heavier than a Challenger by 500lbs.

There were some rumors that the car would be nearly 200lbs heavier...then Ford said no it'll be a little bit lighter. Then they released official weights and they came in about 75lbs heavier.

And then mags started weighing them...they were nearly 200lbs heavier, after all.

Hmm, so Ford was off by 125 lbs. Did they not put fuel in the new one when they weighed it?

I assumed by your username you were in Toronto but they are probably the best truck tires for performing in winter in my opinion and I do a lot of mountain trips in the winter so I would trust them.
So since I am finally about to get some time off work to start looking, I am just wondering if I should even bother getting tires yet.

It's a brand new truck, so my tires are new as well. They are Goodyear Wrangler AT/S, I understand the duratracs are better, but are my current tires sufficient for winter conditions? A lot of mixed reviews online.

Seeing as I already have all terrain tires, I'm wondering if it even makes sense to buy the duratracs as a winter only tire.

You can ride on Duratracs year round, they are a AT tire with the snowflake rating.

However I have used my stock tires that came with my new tundra in the winter before no issues, if things get a bit dicey just engage 4x4 and off you go, just remember for highway driving 4x4 isnt as safe and you will have limited grip if you hit an icy surface.

Serious Question: Is anyone here a car dealer salesman?

Because I would really like to know why your business is such a fucking pathetic excuse for a consumer retail operation and secondly why as individuals you have to be such condescending pieces of shit and know less about the car you're trying to hawk me than the fucking APR rate on the dumbass financing I told you I did not want.

Seriously, were it not for rules and society I would have punched your fucking teeth in. I think you were starting to sense it too.

The reason I am not driving an expensive new automobile is literally your efforts to sell it to me.

Ugh - which dealer/marque?

Have you tried working with the internet sales department of your dealer(s)? Usually you can get most of the scut work done through them if you know what you're looking for.

It literally doesn't matter - this is not a wholly unusual experience. Although in this case it was Audi. Who I foolishly assumed would have a better class of scumbag, but not on Sundays.

Because they are salesmen. That is how the sales world works. They work on commission being a big part of their paychecks. Their base salaries are awful. They are terrible at reading people and telling who's who - so they just assume everyone's a moron who doesn't know shit about cars. They crawl under my skin, but I try my best these days to keep calm.

Negotiate with their internet manager online first and have them prep everything, you then show up, sign and go home in under an hour.

Or look on Audi forums and find a local rep worth talking to.
