Exactly. It doesn't reach most of the time, and not in most of the gaming circles I go to. It's expressive? Sure. But it rarely reaches out of their own bubble.

It's not like 'cyberpunk 2077 launch is trash' level of awareness. Not anywhere close to that.

One of the major issues in the current educational and media environment is that men in general and particularly young men have been almost vilified by the left which leads to all kinds of negative outcomes. It doesn't have to reach the masses. Just the several million potential customers this game has. I don't think Obsidian can shrug off the level of potential bad publicity this kind of thing can generate.

My desire for DA4 to bomb was directly in response to the revelation that the game celebrated genital mutilation. That game took it further than "just" pronouns, and it bombed accordingly because most people don't want that sickening shit in a fantasy RPG.

The market has spoken, and it probably will again when Avowed is released.

Actually, you could. As long as you do it in such a way that makes him engage with you properly. The level of publicity you would generate would be colossal. If I were Obsidian I would have invited him to the studio to play the game. 'Don't judge the product before you've played it yourself, Elon!' would have been the messaging I would have used. You don't antagonise people who are anti your product, you win them over.

Welp this game is off my list.

We live in a time when developers push political and gender specific agendas in their games instead of ...you know....make a fucking good game.

2022-2024 we saw a lot of DEI/politically charged games that ultimately failed hard. When will they learn? In all honesty...this is a good thing. If they want to fuck around and find out - let them. Eventually everything will balance itself out and we will be back to just pure 100% game developers through process of elimination. Let the mentally retarded fucks sort themselves out into obscurity.

the difference is that one side is attacking gamers and the other side is attacking devs/established media...you tell me what side is going to be more popular with the public.
