He's just being honest. No need to get snarky.

A lot of people have very horrible taste, and like some shit that is just plain bad.

But god damn, if I can't stand you because just come off as such an asshole.

i dont get it.. most other reviews for this album are good.

Not everyone is going to love the album. It is a very anti-NIN album (and more along the lines of Still in terms of production, which seemed to put off a lot of older NIN fans but brought in a lot of new ones), but it's still very good. Just wait for the pitchfork review, those bastards wouldn't know a good album if it fucked them in the ass.

The "reviewer" was probably shitting in diapers when "Pretty Hate Machine" was released... as well as homie on the top there.

I don't have an opinion on 'With Teeth', but what does the reviewer's/listener's age have to do with anything?

Reviewers are reviewers. Their opinion doesn't really matter, yours does. Find the ones you generally agree with and use them to find more music you'll like.

I use Pitchfork a lot to find new music. However, I know I'll generally disagree with them when it comes to more mainstream bands. Nine Inch Nails being a good example. I like this album, not as much as the others (except Pretty Hate Machine, the production on that album drives me crazy part of the time) but quite a bit.

Bell Woods makes it a point to crush any joy people have in music unless it is in some untalented, farcical whiny white boy band. He means well, but can't escape the lack of taste that a life in the suburbs has given him. He is a product of reality tv and caged emotion. I feel for him. Really.

Raoul Duke knows nothing about the music bell woods listens to. Of course, by stating this, I make it seem like what Raoul Duke said about me made sense in the first place. I doubt many people comfortable with the English language would be able to make sense out of this atrocity: "Bell Woods makes it a point to crush any joy people have in music unless it is in some untalented, farcical whiny white boy band."

And how dare you compare John Coltrane to fucking Trent Reznor, nightwulf.

[edit]

drohne, British Sea Power were fucking incredible. That may have been the best and loudest show I have ever been to. Their lead guitarist was going insane by the end, jumping on the rafters, carrying this one guy around on his back, playing his guitar with his teeth, etc. And the dude with the drum, coming in and out of the audience. Ugh, so awesome.

And I have to say that "Apologies to Insect Life" has the coolest opening verse ever: OH FYODOR YOU ARE THE MOST ATTRACTIVE MAN!

I understand it just fine.

Yeah, I didn't have any problems understanding it either. Raoul Duke should have just kept the first part of his statement (the true part) and finished it by, I don't know, calling Enjoy Bell Woods a douchebag or something (which he is).

Although who am I to say anything, I compared power-levelers to child molesters in the FFT thread on the gaming forum.

Is that your review Bell Woods? I'm curious to know about what album you did like lately.
(if you are into emo punk, pop music or any scrap that call themselve a genre then we are not even talking.)

It doesn't matter what he likes or doesn't like. You're just looking for ammo to use against his musical taste so you can discount his opinion but that's all it is, an opinion. It doesn't matter. (note: I believe you can discuss the quality of music and that music can be categorized as brilliant and crap but crap can be highly enjoyable to listen to for various reasons)

The best thing for you to do is ignore him. Stop being trolled. However, if you want to fight it out on illogical grounds, go for it. It's a fun read... sometimes.

Are you seriously comparing John Coltrane to Nine Inch Nails?

He didn't. His statement was categorizing three people on this board. What that category is... well, I have multiple guesses but I don't know what he had in mind.

oh good god.
no im saying they have pretty limited music tastes, and they show elitism at that limited spectrum. not so much star powers may be, but i dont notice diablos or bell woods listening to anything aside from rock, and indie at that.
and they are always going about how this is shit or that is garbage. basically im saying that no one actually has the right to put down other people's tastes when their own tastes are so restricted.
the comment involves more than this thread, its more of a general comment towards their general attitude regarding music.

hypothetically, if all one does is listen to punk...then what right does she/he have to say that disco sucks? what does that person know about music, at all?

radiohead sucks balls. there i said it again friends!

its the truth.... i am fairly certain you can make your own radiohead album by just blowing air into a comb, ratteling a pebble in an empty pop can and humming random gibberish.

Quoted because it needs to be said again.

I don't know where it was discovered that my tastes are so limited. I posted a review I found humorous - that's all.

Nine Inch Nails has been horrible for 10 years, and that's all I have to add. If I don't have any right to comment on a band I've been familiar with for the past 12 years, so be it.

people get too wrapped up in the opinion of others (myself included). if someone says "i don't like hamburgers". that doesn't mean hamburgers suck, it means that person doesn't like hamburgers. no need to take offense to it, but i understand it is all in good fun and that's why i play the game :D

p.s. bell woods have you ever seen nin live? surely if you have you enjoyed it

The problem with this thread is not that fact that the review (if you can even call it that) is funny, but the fact that it's nothing note worthy that couldn't have been added in the other Nine Inch Nails thread. You simply made a thread not to be honest, but to push in the knife a little deeper. You're quite the instigator, and obviously knew the reaction that you would get. It's just like a little kid, when they do something bad and know what the outcome is going to be, but like to play dumb when they get caught.

10 years ago Nine Inch Nails released what is my favorite album of all time. From that point I think Trent has taken Nine Inch Nails in a lot of different paths, some successful and some not so much. Sure, the new sound is more rockish and broken down, but that doesn't make for a bad record. It does make for an amazing 5.1 experience though.

Hell, even Diablos likes the record...that should mean something!

Oh, and NIN is by far the best live performance I've seen. They played Chicago this weekend, I missed out. Damn tickets sold out in less than a minute :/
