Desaparecidos - The happiest place on earth

Lyrics:

I want to pledge allegiance to the country where I live
I don't want to be ashamed to be American
But opportunity no, it don't exist
It's the opiate of the populace
We need some harder shit now
The truth is getting around
And each public school is a halfway house
Where the huddled masses sober up and up enough There's not enough to fatten the cows
And feed all of us
It's just a rationing of luck
What can't be bought gets raffled off
Oh God good God shed greed on thee
Your shining sea turned a dirty green
From the industry off the shores of New Jersey
I got a letter from the army
So I think that I'll enlist
I'm not brave or proud of nothing
I just want to kill something
Too bad that now-a-days you just point and click Swing low satellite
Hot white chariot
In the computer's blue glare
The bombs burst in the air
There was a city once now nothing is there
Our freedom comes at their expense
It makes sense does it dollars and centers
They're stretching barbed wire across the picket fence
That is surrounding your housing development
Just in case you lack the confidence
Oh God my God give strength to thee
These amber waves purple majesty
Are nothing but backdrops for Disney
We'll look up close
It is superimposed on a blank blue screen
It is fantasy fucking magical
The dreams floats like a chemical
Through each snapped synapse our television past That is beautiful no more no more

Awesome!

Getting new music now, I need some new groups. So far I've gotten:

Snow patrol
Q and not U
Beep beep
Interpol
Broken Social Scene
Desaparecidos
Bright Eyes

I liked The Ugly Organ better than Domestica, but either way, Cursive is fucking awesome.

Also, if you don't know already know Blood Brothers, go get aquainted with them. Crimes is a really good album to get a-going with. Rilo Kiley is a really good band to check out, they're sort of in the same vein. Well, the Bright Eyes vein, anyway (the indie rock, soulful, emo sort of stuff).

Also, just on sheer principle, Death Cab For Cutie?

Cursive is great. Check out the blood brothers, beep beep, black eyes, and broken spindles to name a few. (wow all of them start with b)

Hey! What about Sorry About Dresden? :D

Also, maybe you should look up Park Avenue? That has Conor Oberst in it.

Agree with just about everything in here.

I'll add The Good Life (same singer as Cursive.)

Cursive is on indefinite hiatus so Timmy can write more material for The Good Life.

Fuck the Good Life, they're like boring Bright Eyes, make another Cursive album.

Seeing as I've now got every Bright Eyes record that's pretty readily available, time to turn my sights to Desparecidos.

I'd say listen to:

Patrick Wolf
Jason Molina/Magnolia Electric Co./Songs: Ohia
Xiu Xiu
John Vanderslice

I like the Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower and This Moment in Black History better than Blood Brothers.

And if you want something that will completely tear your face off? Racebannon.

Oh, Lambtron- I meant to tell you that under your recommendation, I'm really, really into Dressy Bessy and Bis.

And Ween.

WHAT THE FUCK
Crimes is awesome, but it can be a bit too weird for its own good. PTBUTET & TMIBH just tear shit apart, and it's a bit more straight forward. That's what I prefer to hear with that style of music. *Shrug*

Good deal. Dressy Bessy are disgustingly underrated band, and are easily the best of all the E6 collective. Go see them live, they're a good time. Plus Tammy is so cute. She does this awesome leg kick thing when songs are really rockin', it's great. I don't admit to any bis releases after Music For a Stranger World. I kind of hated it all. If you don't have it, you should hunt down the I <3 bis disc. It was a bunch of old b-sides and demos and shit, and it's REALLY good. There's like, extremely old versions of "Kill yr Boyfriend" and stuff.

And Ween, well, that goes without saying. ;)

That's the exact reason I like them so much. Unique is good. Best album I've picked up since Piano Island. I think Rats and Rats and Rats for Candy has to be my favorite track. I can't stop listening to this cd.

Your opinion blows. heh

lambtron, i'm sorry i have to correct you on this matter, but....

BEULAH is easily the best of the e6 collective. followed closely by apples in stereo and of montreal. RIP beulah, apples...and go strong of montreal!
