I think most people at one time or another have watched wrestling. I don't anymore but I remember the glory days. What's the best moment you guys remember?

Personally, my fav is when DX invaded WCW headquarters in that fucking tank. That was one of those "change your life" moments, and ever since then, it's been one of my goals to invade somethign stupid (like a rival college) in a tank and set up shop.

Seriously. There's not many things I can think of that'd be cooler than that, haha. Invading someone with a tank.

God Bless Shawn Micheals.

Rock Vs Hogan

the crowd turned pro hogan in a matter of seconds, you could tell everyone was shocked.
Awesome moment i marked out like madman.

HHH tapping out to benoit was also great.

Everytime HBK made another comeback to do something with the company, and his music blasted, I'd go nuts. And then something would happen and he'd be gone again. But I always loved his appearances. After awhile, he actually came back and I wasn't even watching anymore

Anyway, too many memories. Wrestlemania usually was a joy to watch. III with Andre/Hogan, VI with Hogan/Warrior, Bret Hart/Yokozuna fued, Ramon/HBK at X, HBK/Bret Hart WMXII, HBK/Stone Cold.

I especially liked WM14. Just seemed perfect at the end of it. All those continuing storylines that never seem to end, really did end completely that night as with previous PPV's. Now everything is "what will happen tomorrow night on raw as result of this. And what will result of tomorrow night's results which in turn lead to next week's raw and then smackdown and raw and again. Don't miss sunday night heat!"

Storylines were never the focus when wrestling was great. They were there, but it was basically as support. Wrestling was at its most exciting when two forces built themselves up and collided, seeing who would prevail. Build a menace to the federation and see who takes it down. Earthquake, Yokozuna, Kane, NWO.. And do that through title belt divisions, bumping and knocking down various wrestlers.

NWO still remains a bit of wrestling storyline genius. Just a bully with the power beyond WCW. And Sting taking it down was such a heroic effort. A dark hero at that, which was insanely cool. Put fear into those who spread it. WCW should have just ended it there. Roll credits and end it.

Hmm, but yeah, that's about all I have to say. Lot of great moments past.

Yeah, that was one of the coolest moments in recent wrestling history

Even though I didn't see it live, even watching Rock vs Hogan taped... god, just incredible. I never watched WCW, so stuff like Hogan turning heel never got through to me.

Another one I'll never forget is Jericho beating HHH for the world heavyweight title on RAW and being champion for like 10 minutes before it was reversed because Hebner counted fast or something. But when he hit the mat the for the three count, god, I marked out like a retard.

I miss liking wrestling :(

I stopped watching when WWF and WCW merged awhile ago and honestly cant remember a whole lot about the stuff when I was younger and watching so it'd be hard for me to name a single great moment from awhile ago. However, the two greatest eras from the 90s and on for me were definitely when the NWO started up in the WCW and when The Rock started in the WWF. The whole Poontang Pie Thanksgiving segment with Jerry Lawler and Michael Whatever was about as hard as I'd ever laughed. Good times.

too many to name, but hitman vs. hogan fake match that seemed real then they end up raising their hands joined to signal the hitman-NWO alliance and effectively end the "wolfpack needs a hitman dreams, back in one of the Monday Night Raws was classic...

Bret Hart vs. HBK, Iron Man Match

And since I was actually there, it's even more special for me.

I would agree, if Bret didn't get the shit end of the stick that night. I was there too, I just wish I had a pellet gun or something to shoot Gorilla Monsoon at the time.

Anyway, my personal ones:

- Scott Hall whipping Macho Man with a Slim Jim.

- Hogan spraypainting Ric Flair's hair black.

- Pillman gun incident.

- Hogan/Rock WMXVIII

- Yokozuna/UT casket match at RR 94

- Thumbs up I got from Owen Hart at a house show. :)

When savage accidently bumped elizbeth off the apron, and Hogan(seemed like god to me at that time in my life) picked up elizabeth and brought her to the back, leaving his best friend Savage in the ring to get stomped by AKEEM.... damn saturday Night Main event was Amazing.... the good old days..

Oh, another one I forgot:

"IT WAS ME, AUSTIN! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!"

That shit was so hot.

Also the time New Jack booted a toy Godzilla into Bam Bam Bigelow's junk on that PPV.

It's a good thing this isn't "awesome wrestling promo" thread, or I could be here all day...

Old Era:Watching NWA Wrestling on Saturday. Any Ric Flair 60 minute match (v. Steamboat, v. Dusty Rhodes, etc)

New Era: I had a pirated cable box, and watching the first ECW PPV blew my mind. Everything was so raw, and the fans were fantastic. I remember sitting there and saying, I want to move to Philadelphia .. just so I can attend those matches and be a part of it all.

I need to get that new ECW wrestling DVD.

Same moment I had. Sitting there watching ti with my Dad. Been hooked ever since.

Ric Flair Takin out Hogan in Royal Rumble 91 I think. Winning his first wwe championship.
Easily my favorite wrestling match. So many gimmick wrestlers in that match: Warlord, Berserker, Hercules, Repo Man.

Also:

These:

Undertaker vs Mankind hell in the cell match. Holy shit moment: Mick going through the table. Mick getting slammed on thumbtacks.

all of those TLC matches with the dudleys, Edge Christian Rhyno and the Hardy boys.

The early days of Hulkamania were amazing. The sheer energy the man created was astounding to behold.

My favorite single moment happened when Hulk wrestled "The Genius" Lanny Poffo. Hulk was beating Poffo, and Poffo escaped outside of the ring. Once there, he picked up a clipboard and started doing some complex mathematics.

If I recall correctly, the formula was something like X+320/Y2 = Hulk down! And he went back in the ring and used his formula, by which I mean he performed a hiptoss or a snap mere (is that how you spell it?). I remember Bobby "the Brain" Heenan practically leapt from the announcing table in ecstasy over Poffo's great cerebral powers.

I would have to go with WM14 i think it was. Austin vs. Micheals, and just the last 2min of that match were amazing to me...Just seeing Austin grab Micheals foot, spinning him around and stunning him was great.

Eric Bischoff: You will never ever wrestle here again!

Ric Flair: Abuse of power! You suck! I hate your guts!

Bischoff: My House. You're history!

Flair: You are a liar, you're a cheat, you're a scam! You are a no good son of a bitch! Fire me! I'm already fired! Fire me! I'm already fired!

I remember... because I WAS THERE

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It was all downhill for wrestling from that point on, but man... that was awesome.

The night that Shane McMahon interupted Vince on Raw to announce that HE now owned WCW and that that night he would be simultaneuosly broadcasting from Nitro.

I had no idea that was coming, so it shocked the hell out of me. I really thought it would be the start of something good.

Oh well.

I second that. Where are the up-and-comers nowadays willing to risk their lives like this for my entertainment?

Has anyone else seen this yet? Does it live up to the hype?

Steamboat vs Savage (that whole feud rocked city blocks)
Coconut Willie vs Little Brutus
The "Fingerpoke of Doom" (I was OUTRAGED)
Austin vs Michaels
Big John Studd getting bodyslammed

Taz's opening promo from ECW November to Remember
Flair's "bleeding virgins" promo from MSG on Raw last year
The ECW turn against the WWF during the Invasion angle

The Rock tossing Austin off a bridge

Just off the top of my head.

The best moments I can think of are the ones when I was younger, and couldn't find out what would happen on the shows.

Seeing Hulk Hogan come down to the ring making it seem like he came to help WCW, but then dropping the big legdrop and showing his allegiance to the NWO. Man I went totally crazy, I was so shocked that he did that.

The last Wrestlemania that was in Toronto, that was my first time going to a pay per view and damn it was so fun.

Probably the most surreal moment would be the Survivor Series match in, I think, '97. The ending to the Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels match and the aftermath was pretty unbelievable. I was a huge Bret Hart mark at the time, so I was in awe.

Rock vs. Hogan at WM 18 was my personal favorite. I was going crazy when he hulked up after that Rock Bottom.

The Austin/DX era was also awesome, there were plenty of great moments there. I think the number one though was 'Tyson and Austin! Tyson and Austin! All hell has broken loose!'.

Funniest moment in retrospect though has to be the Ultimate Warrior getting up from the Pedigree in two seconds and beating Triple H is like 7 seconds at Wrestlemania 14 or something like that.

Piper smashing the coconut off of Snuka and rubbing the banana in his face will always be the best ever IMO.

Mr. Wonderful pile driving Hogan was classic, just as classic was McMahon's screams of "no, No, NO!" as it was happening.

Mr. Wonderful piledriving Rudy Diamond like 5 times in a row for wearing a "Paula" shirt was complete hilarity.

Andre turning on Hogan on Piper's Pit.

Savage jamming the ring bell into Steamboat, just awesome. Also complete hilarity was that skit of Steamboat trying to regain his speech afterwards. And his Ninja training for the rematch was equally hilarious.

I have this Best of RAW DVD and everything on that disc was a moment to remember.

Austin fighting in the grocery store, hits a guy with a carton and says "Got Milk?"

Austin pretending to be a nurse and beating up Vince in the hospital. The bedpan made the loudest noise when he cracked Vince in the head :lol

Austin giving everyone in the room a hat and Kurt's was this tiny little one with an elastic :lol

HHH invading WCW with DX. Going down a ramp to a garage door "We're bringing the war to WCW but they're ending the war early by closing the gate!"

DX Nation impersonation

Warrior coming to rescue Hogan from Sid and Papa Shango. I think that was one of the only PPVs that didn't end with a title match.

Any Bret Hart match was a sight to behold. Diesel, Yokozuna, Owen, HBK etc.

HHH has been having a lot of great moments recently too.
"You hear that? On sale tomorrow, number one best seller, MY book. You hear that? That means I'm a bestselling author Bischoff!"

Invading JR day in Oklahoma "That'd bring a tear to a glass eye" and then beating up Danny Hodge
Batista: "Danny Hodge? How old is that guy?"
HHH: "I dunno... *pause* Ancient."

keep your strippers out of my American football
Rock/HHH Ladder Match at Summerslam - That match really confirmed Rock was a superstar and though was a lil overbooked, it was a great match.

DX/Nation fued - The Rock/HHH Street Fight on Raw in which the Nation paid off DOA to keep the rest of DX on the ramp so HHH could get his ass kicked by the rest of the Nation. HHH ended up bloody and carried out by the rest of DX.

WM XX Main Event - HHH/Benoit/HBK was a HELL of a match. One of the best in a few years, IMO. Really got me back into watching WWE, until Raw and Smackdown turned me right back off.

RVD/Undertaker at Vengence - Hardcore match that UT won (of course), but UT sold for RVD and made him look like a million bucks. That is rare for UT to make his opponent look that good.

Angle/Benoit at Unforgiven - A blow off to their fued. Incredible match that only had one dead spot. Which was Shaq walking into the arena in the middle of the match. But Benoit wisely went into a rest hold until the crowd finished their Shaq worship.

Kidman/Rey/Juvi + Kidman/Eddy at Starrcade - It was a 3-way dance that lasted about 25 minutes, then Eddy/Kidman went about 20 minutes on their own. 45 minutes devoted to cruisers at WCW's biggest PPV of the year? An incredible match. It was overshadowed by the Nash/Goldberg main event. But it was a great match.

Benoit/X-Pac/Jericho/Eddy at No Way Out - This was actually a great PPV all around with HHH/Austin 3 stages of hell, Trish/Steph, and other matches. But the 4-way dance was awesome. Benoit and Eddy carried alot of the match, but I think this might have been X-Pac's finest match to date.

Angle/Benoit at Royal Rumble 2003. The greatest match of all time, and Benoit got a huge standing ovation from the whole crowd afterward.

That whole time period when Austin was heel with Angle and McMahon before the Invasion. All of those skits and promos are timeless, with Austin singing Kumbaya and Angle trying his hardest to fit in with them.

ECW joining the Invasion. This moment was ruined just an hour later when Steph joined in and ECW joined WCW.

The current Batista slow turn. They haven't fucked this up yet, and I'm pretty sure we'll all be talking about this years down the line. It's the only interesting thing on both shows.

^^ I laughed. Not because it was funny however.

Seeing ECW for the first time - This was back before the PPV, towards the end of '96 when wrestling was really starting to pick up and I hadn't watched anything in like 5-6 years. Needless to say, my friend instantly got me back in the fold.

The Michinoku Pro Match at Barely Legal - It was my first Japanese style match I'd ever seen, and while I've seen much better since, it (and Fire Pro for Saturn) was what got me into Japanese wrestling.

RAW IS JERICHO - I waited all friggin summer for it, and it was total markage. It's a shame they're totally wasting him now.

The Man of 1004 Holds - I liked Jericho as a face, but after his heel turn he was the fucking man. ARMBAR.

When Rocky Maivia became "The Rock" (after he was getting Rocky Sucks chants AS A FACE) and started talking in 3rd Person, and eventually kicked Farooq out of the nation. - Some of those skits were fucking hilarious.

Also - Liver Spot, Dog Spot

Speaking of Scott Hall, when Nitro was going off the air and the nWo had taken over the announcer's booth, Scott says to the Giant "Hey are you really Andre's son?"

^^^^ many here on GA, including myself, Ripclawe and Darien. Alicia Snow 4 Lyfe. IIRC Alex Cain tried to get someone expelled from college too. I'm pretty sure that all three of us were there for the birth and death of the moderated group. It is 'the game of human cesspool', after all.

Yeah, I was gonna say Jannety-->Plate glass window too.

How abot the Raven/Kanyon skits, those were fucking hysterical, like a fuckin Ferris Buehler tribute with Raven playing to the camera constantly.

edit: it was Chad Bryant who Alex Cain tried to get expelled.

That's prolly true. My initial wrestling stint was from like 83-91. I never watched again until the summer of 99. Haven't watched it since early 04 though.....I think the product just sucks now.

You like me, you really really like me!
- Hogan joining the nWo at Bash of the Beach (I was in tears after that Pay Per View)

- Scott Hall invading Nitro then getting into a scuffle with Sting at the announcer's booth.
That's when Scott Hall promised a "big" surprise next week, and it was Kevin Nash.

- Chris Jericho naming all the moves he can do (during his feud with malenko in WCW)
It was hilarious because he starts naming the moves and then they went to a commercial break and came back and he was STILL naming all the moves. Classic.

- War Games Match between WCW and nWo. The fake Sting came out for the nWo and the whole arena went silent, next thing you know WCW's final guy comes out and it's the REAL Sting! (then proceeds to leave the match because Lex Luger and the other guys not trusting him)

- Goldberg defeating Hogan for the title

- Any moment during the Sting/Hogan feud where Sting would drop down from the top of the arena and give a coldblooded stare at Hogan while pointing his bat at him.

- I love WCW.
