Babylon 5 reboot in development at the CW

This will really need the right cast, since the actors were a large part of bringing the story to life. I am unsure though of JMS, B5 got the ending he wanted, it was the sequels that never did. Like, who the fuck can replace Katsulas (G'kar) and Jerry Doyle, apart from some major cost movie/or Shakespearian actors?

Wonder if he is doing it to get a shot at tying the other stories together on the screen? Again, after all his other efforts sort of crashed and burned.

Hoping for the best though. Loved B5.

Why a reboot and not a continuation? Doubt we'll ever get such an amazing performance by an actor wearing so much make up and prosthetics

That scene gave me chills. Amazing actor.

And please don't fucking over design the Narn prosthetics like the Klingons in Discovery so you can barely see the actor act.

Maybe itll be good? The original series has aged really poorly in the fx department. It's hard to go back and watch.

Good news...or bad news?

Let it burn, don't care about the network now that Supernatural has finally ended.

I don't see how current CW would make something that's not another trashy drama for teenagers.

To be fair, the original was basically a trashy drama for teenagers as well. It had its moments but let's not put it on too high of a pedestal.

What I don't think they will match today is the blend of camp and deadly seriousness. B5 was able to handle those shifts really well because it wasn't all snark. Not sure if writers these days can resist either unrelenting melodrama or post whedon snark.

The company that owns B5 selling the TV channel they were making B5 for? That sounds like pretty good news... from the perspective that a B5 reboot will probably be an abomination and something like this has a good shot of killing in the womb.

Also. Pedowitz? Damn what an L of a last name, fuckin' Pedo'.

I was looking forward to Michelle Geller playing Delenne with Zac Efron as Mollari!

No. The series is just perfect! No need for reboot.
The only scifi reboot that was actual good was Battlestar Galactica.
Besides we all know how they "represent" the Narns/Centary conflict :messenger_sad_relieved:.

Today, about an hour ago, Deadline Hollywood announced the slate of pilot scripts being picked up for production by The CW. Babylon 5 was not on that list.

When a pilot script is not picked up to production, 99.999% of the time, that’s the end of the road for the project, the script is dead.

However: shortly before that piece was published, I received a call from Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW. (I should mention that Mark is a great guy and a long-time fan of B5. He worked for Warners when the show was first airing, and always made sure we got him copies of the episodes before they aired because he didn’t want to wait to see what happened next.)

Calling the pilot “a damned fine script,” he said he was taking the highly unusual step of rolling the project and the pilot script into next year, keeping B5 in active development while the dust settles on the sale of the CW.

Here’s the bottom line:

Yesterday, Babylon 5 was in active development at the CW and Warner Bros. for fall 2022.

Today, Babylon 5 is in active development at the CW and Warner Bros. for fall 2023.

That is the only difference.

Nothing against JMS but

Is kinda like how I used to say "Tomorrow I'm gonna ask out that hot girl at the gym" and it became" Next week I'm gonna ask out that hot girl at the gym".

The only difference is that I prolonged rejection by another week :p

Yes... but in that glorious extension of a week, you bought your self 7 more days of hope and imagining her in your head. Never let go of hope, its the only thing that keeps much of the male population from revolting.
